I hate how Magneto is killing the world's mutant population. That makes no f---ing sense and is totally out of character. It's more of that craptacular Loeb writing

Maybe it's ultimate xorn.

I'll reserve judgment until I pick up all of coleite's issues; it's unfortunate Ultimate X-men isn't ending on a much grander and appropriate note though. Shoot..it's unfortunate it's ending..period.

We learn three pages before the end what to do to
make the dupes disappear - knock out the prime. But what's Logan's first recourse when Jamie won't believe him that everything's fake? Kills the bugger! Doesnt even try knocking him out and radioing the others, or Telepathically contacting Jean. Doesn't even hit him to make a dupe and then try various things to make that dupe disappear.

So ends the UXM. A very lackluster ending with very little if not any emotional impact. Kinda sad that this is how we end off.

You all realise that there is an issue after Ulti Jeph Loeb needs fired like they did on hereosmatum that wraps the story of Ult. X-Men up.

Ultimate X-men was never that good of a book. I mean I dug the Kirkman and Vaughn stuff, but generally it was always disappointing.

So ends one of the weirdest eras in the X-Men universe ever....the Ultimate series. Sometimes it made me say "whoa", other times it made me say," who the **** wrote this garbage?"

it's a shame, it really is...ultimate x-men had it's moments and deserved a better finale.

What a letdown. The writing was horrid.
Why couldn't Iceman freeze them so they don't multiply? Why didn't Jean telekinetically stop their hearts? The X-Men basically did nothing but waiting for Logan to solve the issue.
Can't believe that this is how they ended a 100-issue series.

I don't see why everyone is complaining about how the issue ended. It's ****ing Wolverine. What did you think was going to happen? He was going to make tea and cookies and sit down and talk the problems out?

And...
Why didn't Jean telekinetically stop their hearts? Why didn't Iceman freeze the dupes? Despite the Ultimate line being a much harder edge, the basic idea (spelled right out in the issue, might I add) is the same, that they're superheroes, and X-Men don't kill. Wolverine's an animal, though, even if he is a member of the team, so how does it NOT make sense that he's the one sent on a solo operation to take out the source?

Coleite did well with what he was probably mandated to do and what he had to work with. I'm not going to begrudge him at all his precarious situation. He can surely brush up on his dialogue skills, using contractions when he shouldn't and not using them when he should, and all, but aside from that, it is what it is. I'm not saying it's a great issue or that I'm pleased the series is ending, or that I think Ultimatum is great, but geez, that's the best you guys could think about complaining about?

It's like Batboys complaining about Morrison.

Yeah - she didn't stop their hearts because that would be murder, but when Storm killed one with a knife to the head "it was ok, he was just a dupe". And I didn't mean Iceman to freeze them to death - I simply meant trapping them in ice so they can't multiply anymore. Bobby used to do that in 616 when fighting Madrox.

Just because Jean said something doesn't mean she should have telekinetically killed them all. Storm IS right: any of Madrox's dupes are a real person in and of themselves. Jean under Coleite has become more of a battlefield leader, and so her words reflect that role: Storm did something, so either Jean can let her freak out, or Jean can try and calm her down. If Jean had TOLD Storm to do it and not done it, that would have been hypocritical. As it stands, it was attempting to calm a freaking-out teammate.

As far as Iceman goes, well, whatever. It's not gross mischaracterization, because Ultimate Iceman has never been a genius with his powers under any writer. It doesn't even count as a missed attempt, because it doesn't really matter.

I think it really just comes down to marvel's need to make Wolverine the center of the universe. This fight could be stopped in other ways instead of using Wolverine.

Yes, Marvel editorial told Coleite that he had to make sure Wolverine was front and center and would be the only possible solution. His job depended on it, clearly. In fact, his LIFE depended on it. The conspiracy continues, oh egads.

Do the Wolverine fans buy two copies of the issue everytime the character is in front or something?

Do they actually go that far?

i understand wolverine having to be instrumental in the demise of madrox...but i felt scott and jean needed to shine in the final issue of ult. x-men as well.

all the characters should've got some attention. But no Wolverine just needed to hog the final issue. Damn why can't Loeb kill Wolverine? That would be a death I'd support.

wolverine was probably on marvel's list of 'DO NOT KILL!'
