I'll agree with that as long as we all acknowledge Marvel approved of the awful writing.

^^that's what scares me...imagine what they'll approve for future ultimate titles (for loeb)...

They have been doing that for a long while, otherwise Claremont wouldn't still be working, would he?

Yeah - total let down his being Wraith. The guy was a freakin' monster back in the Weapon X arc, then he comes back not only alive, but sporting superpowers and not being such an ******** (though being somewhat of one)

Out of curiosity as a none-westerner, one question, why do American comics change writers so often for one title?

It's so different from Manga (not that Manga doesn't have its own shortcomings).

^^i think it has to do with the writers' personal choice or being replaced by another 'high profile' writer by the publisher.

to increase sales. Ive noticed especially with the X-titles, the editors reboot most of the titles every other year. How many Reloaded, Revolution, etc... type of events have we gotten in teh past 10 years? They all come with a temporary sales boost until the next event that shuffles the titles

Thanks, it actually works? Guess it's another difference between east and west, cause if Japan relaunches a new series of Drangon Ball Z (ie: same title, different writer, etc) it won't sell as much as before.

Especially when the movie is so bad that it makes your eyes bleed.

yeah it works. People like to read for the changes and watch for the new lineups and creative team. Tracking the issues month to month, sales tend to drop after the first or 2nd arc.

does everyone think we've seen the last of ultimate x-men as its own title?

Yes, I thought that had already been announced a long while back. :( Some X-men (probably Wolverine) may do walk ons in the other Ultimate books.

i'm sure we'll get a mini-series sometime in the future too.

I wouldn't mind that, depending on who was in it. Some of the fun for me is lost because two of my top three faves are dead -- Gambit and Beast. Not much left for me to enjoy. :(

I'm surprised Kirkman didn't bring back Gambit while he was busy bringing other people back. Seriously. Then we could have had Gable, as Gambit-from-the-future. Or, heck, I'm surprised Bishop wasn't Gambit.

What? It wouldn't make sense because Gambit wasn't black? COME ON, PEOPLE. Use your imaginations! There's an obvious and clear explanation here: Gambit, while hiding out and making everyone think he was dead, had a very bad run in with the Crayola people who color Michael Jackson.

Wolverine is like the cockroaches...that ****er will survive every apocolyptic thing that happens in all Marvel universes.

it was John Wraith from Weapon X.
Lame. :(

I'd still had this half hope it was Gambit raised from the dead. No such luck I guess... :waa: What a let down it was.

Well, without the X-Men I'm kinda done with the Ultimate universe. Maybe I'll pick it up if I ever hear anything interesting happening with Wolverine, but still . . . Wolverine permanently without the X-Men doesn't really sound all that interesting, even to a hard-core fan like myself.

Got a feeling I'm not going to be investing money or time in the Ultimate Universe anymore too. Real shame - the line was the perfect opportunity to compile a linear universe with an established cache of characters and put them all in without other dimensional/alternate future anything and without complicated retcons or overly complex unexplained backstoried relationships.

But they blew it. They made Mojoworld an island for mutant hunting (Magneto trashes DC for building sentinels but just ignores Mojo island?), they made Cable the future Logan, had Logan do Magneto's wife then in the same page make it appear as if the man forgot all about it. They turned every third hero into a cannibal, made the completely inexperienced Jan... (you know what, lets just say they allowed Ultimates Vol 3 to happen), killed Beast TWICE, used the Phoenix as a Deus ex machina once to undo a couple deaths but won't do it to undo millions, and turned the deuche Wraith into frickin' Guardian.

Its like they just lost their way after the first three years.

It's more like they're using one *****e's stupid idea to erase another *****e's stupid ideas.

Is there any way to get a list of who all has died so far? I haven't been keeping up with ultimatum, but I am interested in which characters they decide to kill off.

Beast, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Xavier, Pietro, Wanda, Wasp, Giant Man, Dr Storm, Johnny Storm (maybe - no body yet), Sue and Johnny's mum, Daredevil, Blob, Madrox, Syndicate, Cap for a time, Valkyrie (though Thor's bargain was to have her returned)
