When Cable grabbed the baby and started time-hopping, he found an isolated little community in the mountains somewhere in the future and settled with them for a few years. While there, he met a woman named Hope and married her. Hope and Cable raised the "little one" (who Cable never bothered to name) together until their community was attacked. The three escaped the attack, but Hope still ended up getting killed in their travels. After she died, Cable named the little girl (who was maybe 7 or 8 at the time) after her adopted mother.
