WARNING, CW#5 SPOILERS!!!

Okay...over the last 5 or 10 years, we've had to endure some crap in the spider-verse. We all know it. Whether you liked some parts or hated them all, it's been less than a "blessed time" to be a Spider-Fan.

For those of you who haven't read it yet, Spider-Man turns on Iron Man in Civil War #5. He goes to leave, and can't break through the reinforced glass (?!). SHIELD shows up to apprehend him, and they shoot at him...and their bullets[/] break the glass, allowing Spider-Man to escape. Then, he is hunted down by two members of the new Thunderbolts, and they beat his ass.

Who could it be, you ask?
Green Goblin?
No.
Venom?
No.
Bullseye?
No.

No other than the Jester and Jack O' Lantern.

This is bulls***!! When is the last time Spidey actually one a fight without having to rely on back-up or a lightning bolt or new powers or some other s***?! Anyone?!

The guy who beat the Sinister Six, held his own against the Sinister 12, and has beaten everyone from Firelord to Juggernaut to the freakin' Hulk, gets his ass handed to him by two guys who couldn'y beat a one-legged Daredevil.

LAME.

I'm sorry, but this crap has got to stop. I could handle the unamsking. I could handle him getting all kinds of ridiculous new powers, but having him get beaten by EVERYONE he fights?! That's stupid!!

Mr Jeph Loeb, if you ever read this, please Please PLEASE remember that Spider-Man IS a tough fighter who can handle 2/3 of the Marvel Universe. No, he shouldn't win all the time, but DAMMIT, he's supposed to win most of the time!! Even Ultimate Spider-Man gets to win, and he's an IDIOT!!

So...voice your concerns, and, just for s***s and giggles, post one fight since the realunch back in 2000 that Spider-Man has won. Not tied. Not a draw. Not the bad guy getting away. A fight he actually WON decisively.

I like Jack O'Lantern, but no way could he beat Spider-Man. Jester I've never heard of. This is indeed a sad thing to read. As for the last villian that Spidey beat decisively, did you read Spectacular Spider-Man? The Countdown arc? Spidey made Ock beg to stop beating him.

Spidey has beaten the following people in the past years or four:
-Venom II
-Venom III
-Morlun
-Shathra
-Digger

Spidey has failed to defeat or lost to the following:
-Titanium Man threw the fight.
-Cap beat Spidey (like a b****)
-Jester and Jack O' Lantern beat Spidey.
-Electro beat Spidey (enjoyed that one, though)
-Tracer beat Spidey
-Sister Grim from the Runaways beat him.
-Wolverine just walked up and stabbed him the chest.
-Jigsaw snapped his arm.
-SHIELD mind-raped him.

I'll let everyone else have some fun with it, too. I'm sure his losses far outweigh his wins as of late.

I remember that one. I may not have liked Ramos's artwork, but watching Spidey actually beat someone down was just good to watch.

He also beat Molten Man, Mysterio (Berkhart), Ock, Morbius, the Queen, Stegron and the Vulture.

What the hell does this mean? No Iron Man Spidey fight in the new ASM?? I will be P1ssed!

Ugh... yeah, it's pretty sad. I mean why amp him up with new 'powers' a new suit and all this other stuff when he still gets beat-up and/or made to look like a total chump regularly...

Another embarrassing defeat: Typeface. Ugh.

That '90s Spidey animated series didn't do him any favors either... how many decisive wins did he have in that show???

You guys beat me to the Civil War #5 thread. I mean wow! Wow! This issue? I have only three words to describe it:

NOT WORTH IT.

This comic was absolute pure and utter bull****. The Iron Man / Spidey fight? It wasn't lame. It wasn't cliched. It wasn't good. It wasn't... anything. And I have no delusions about the idea that in Amazing (whenever the **** that comes out), it will be COMPLETELY different from this issue. Screw these people. Isn't there a continuity director who makes sure all the tie-ins.... TIE IN?! The worst example of this is Frontline, the second flagship title of Civil War, other than the titular series. It's Civil War, Frontline, then the rest. And what do we have? Goliath is killed by a lightning bolt from Clor through the chest in CW, and then in FL, Goliath's brain is fried by his lightning bolt instead.

This issue was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. This series is stupid and going nowhere fast. Captain America has spent four out of five issues in an eight issue series PLANNING and whining. And I swear, this is the umpteenth time we see these two lines:

"This isn't nineteen forty-five anymore."
"Whose side are you on?"

This is the single most IMPLIED Marvel event I've ever seen. Hero versus hero? More like Hero versus nameless SHIELD agents, three supervillains, and one actual battle, in which nothing happens but an ass beating for Cap and the death of a C-lister superhero. The Avengers Disassembled issue wherein Wanda summons the space army had more going on in four ****ing pages than this entire goddamn series thus far.

**** this goddamn comic, this goddamn Civil War, this goddamn stupid ****ing series, this ****ing publishing house, this whole goddamn business.

From this moment on, no more comics. I'm done.

he might get beat cuz stark messes with his new suit. shuts it down or something. cant just jump to conclusions that these 2 3rd rate guys beat him without some kind of help or deception.

but, i could be wrong.

I say wait until Amazing Spider-man comes out first. It's not like the CW#5 had any serious detail. We still have to wait for Fantastic Four for the whole Sue and Johnny scene to make sense I think as well.

Well, I'm going to read the comic first before I say anything.

Read it in the store, then take a walk. Then think about buying it.

Edit: Oh, by the way, in the Spidey/Iron Man fight? No reference to an override at all. None. Zip. Spidey doesn't tamper with the suit, Iron Man doesn't turn it off, and there's (seemingly) no tracer on it. Apparently it only sends information through the suit, and in fact could be used offensively against Parker, in Amazing Spider-Man.

next thing you know they'll have RACHEL RAY kicking spidey's ass:ninja:

I read this book at the store today. Yeah, it was awful. I hate the Frontline stories, but they feature old GG, so I am obligated to buy them. The ocer at least looked promising....but it couldnt have been any more false of an advertisement. I'm glad to see Jack back, but was sorry to see
Punisher blow his head away. I dont know if he or she is dead, I hope not. I assume it was Maguire Beck.

Jester and Jack O' Lantern are the good guys, good guys are supossed to win. Why do you think Spider-Man beat Hulk, Juggernaut and Firelord. The rules change for the good guys.

Venom's in it tho right? thats why I am going to buy tmr.

I love overreactions...it's great. :woot:

I know seriously.

Everyone here does know that this fight is being shown in two places right? Also that the main Civil War title is pretty much just and overview and quick summary of events that are shown in detail in other titlles right (Amazing Spider-man and Fantastic Four for example as the main ones)?

Try and wait until ASM is out before bashing the fight.

So... are next week's ASM and CW #5 covering the SAME encounter between Spidey and Ironman?

They should. ASM ended with Iron Man crashing throw the wall to tackle Peter. There is no way they'd not show that entire fight with that type of cliffhanger.

While it wasn't actually a fight, Siryn over in X-factor also mind-raped him using some type of sonic mind control thing.

Maybe the Stark suit is riddled with little nanos that Tony put in to weaken Pete if he defected to Cap's side? It's totally unlikely but Spidey was confused and mentally burnt. I don't believe his Spider-sense went off when they were approaching either....

Aloha,
You are very wise. Does anyone think that Tony Stark would come after Spidey in a suit that HE designed and that suit is not wired to Tony's every command? Most if not all of Iron Mans suits are capable of remote control.I want to know why Peter hasn't ditched the thing by now. He has got to know that its bugged(pun intended). Can't wait to check it out for myself.
Spidey rules

Spider-Man JUST got his ass kicked by Iron Man. He got thrown out of a skyscraper, landed in the sewer, and was ambushed by surprise. Of course he got his ass kicked. You're just complaining for the sake of complaining. Besides, it had to be 2 of the 2nd stringers, because Marvel wouldnt have let Punisher blow away Bullseye, Venom, Goblin, or any of the other members of the team really. So stop complaining just to have something to complain about.
