Ok, I bought a Wii...my friend will deliver it next weekend, I think.
I have a couple of questions...

1) I have an HDTV. Do I need some kind of cable or whatever to get the most out of it and get a great image?

2) Charging and recharging: Is there a controller charger kit that's worth a damn or do I just get rechargable batteries?

3) The Internet-Wii service is free, correct? As long as I have an Internet connection, am I good to go?

4) What accessories do I really need?

5) Do I have to place the Wii like stading up, or can it be on its side?

Also, these are the games I plan to get, please let me know if I'm missing anything cool...

Wii:

Super Mario Galaxy
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil: UC
Mario Kart Wii
Super Paper Mario
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2

VC:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Mario RPG
Super Metroid
Gunstar Heroes
Star Fox 64 (one of my all-time favorite games)
Super Ghouls and Ghosts

Gamecube:

Metroid Prime 2 (I already got the first one :) )
Eternal Darkness
REmake
Rogue Leader/Rebel Strike (unless that rumor about Factor 5 porting all 3 "Rogue" games to Wii with better graphics turns out to be true)
F-Zero GX

Thanks in advance (Brainiac, I'm looking at you! :cmad:)

1) The wii can only go up to 480p, and that is with wii component cables. It's not much of a difference, but if you really care about such things then pick one up.

3) The internet is free and wireless.

4) The major accessory needed is the Classic Controller. It works great when playing SNES and N64 games on the VC. It does not work with GC games and a GC wireless controller is virtually impossible to find anymore for cheap. So if you don't have a GC controller, you'll need to get one, wired being the easiest (However, I have found that the wire is way too damn short, and I rarely play my GC games because of this).

5) You can put the wii sideways, just remember which direction the discs go.

Also, where do I save the VC games without a HDD?

The VC games save onto the wii's internal memory. You can store them additionally onto an SD card, however you can not directly play them from it, so in order to play games on the card you have to switch them out.

This has gotten a lot of flack, and Nintendo has not been that interested in fixing the storage issues, however it was just recently announced that an update will come next year that will make it easier to play games off of SD cards.

Also, once you buy a game and download it. If you delete it to make room, the console remembers that you bought it and you can go re-download it whenever you want.

The games you want sound fine. I'd add Wario Ware to see how innovative the wiimote can be, and Wario Land : Shake It! is supposed to be a great new 2d platformer, I haven't played it yet.

My internet is funky, and I'm just checking on stuff from my parents computer.

When it gets fixed I'll give you some info Blas.

But with that said, Geo has given great info.

Upcoming games you should look out for:

Keep an eye out for Sin and Punishment 2 for Wii, that's going to be epic. I'd suggest Sin and Punishment one while your at it, especially if you like Starfox 64.

Megaman 9 is pretty great, and Cave Story, which is possibly one of the coolest games ever, is coming to Wii (I'm thinking it'll be for the Virtual Console. But I could be wrong.)

Oh, and Punch Out Wii.
Yes, Punch Out Wii.

Get Sam and Max Season 1 when it comes out Blas. Oh and Okami.

Jamie: I thought you hated the Wii :cmad:
But yeah, Okami looks cool....what's the other one about?

Geo: Oh mama....

I don't hate it, its just nowhere nears as good as the PS3 or 360...

Sam and Max is a point and click adventure. You remember a while back when me and you were trying to download those old Lucasarts point and clicks? I think you were trying to get Grim Fandango, that game DRT likes, and Day of the Tentacle Terror or something like that. And I was trying to get hold of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Sam and Max Hit the Road. Its essentially a throw back to those style of games.

Everyone here pretty much covered what I would recommend Blas.

I do have a bit to add though:

WiiWare is the new section of the Wii Shop Channel that has original games that allow larger or smaller dev groups to create new content for the Wii. Some games worth checking out are:

Lost Winds
Strong Bad's Cool Games For Attractive People: Episodes 1 & 2 (3 more episodes on the way)
Cave Story (On the way)
Gyrostar
Defend Your Castle
Toki Tori
Bomberman Blast
Dr. Mario Online RX

It's a fantastic service

Sorry i can't help you you should have bought an xbox

:whatever:

Then why did you post if you couldn't help him.

He has a 360..and is doing the smart thing by owning both systems...which gives you the best of both worlds.

lol no the xbob is a worst system it is so oooooooooold an only 2 good games an they r both HALO lol wii is good n has many good game

Does it have anything to teach people proper spelling, punctuation, or manners?

Another great game is Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros Treasure. Point and click puzzle game, with some interesting Wii-mote applications.

Rayman Raving Rabids is also a lot of fun and should be pretty cheap by now.

Oh yes, get Zack & Wiki, plus you can grab it for 20 bucks or less now.

I would highly recommend the Wii Fit. Seriously one of the most fun experiences I've ever had playing a Game on the Wii.

OK so I got the Wii had it for about 3 weeks now, but I'm wondering how do I get it to connecet with the internet? I have the modem upstairs, my Wii is downstairs.

HOMEBREW CHANNEL.

it's really easy to install and not as hard as one may think. well if you haven't updated to 3.4 yet.

don't waste your money on the charging kits. I got one for $35 and am glad I can still take it back because I've been using rechargeable batteries since I got the wii about three weeks ago and still have charge.
