Anyone who's an admitted Burtonite, raise your hand.

*Raises hand*

Okay, now, here's the challenge. There's also a twofold intention. The point of this thread is to discuss what we liked or even, dare I say it, loved about BB and (potentially) TDK. This is our chance to show others that we aren't fools that are crammed up Burton's ass. That we're just Batman fans with a preference.

No bull****. If you don't have anything nice to say about Nolan's films, don't post a damn thing. Not even a note of "I don't like them." That's spam, kiddies.

No backhanded criticism. This is a stereotype that we should disprove. We can praise some of Nolan's stuff without putting down other aspects, right? Just discuss what you liked, no more, no less. No comparisons to Burton's material if we can help it. Got it?

For me, I loved Batman being so new to the world, seeing the early Gotham thug reaction. "Can he really fly?" and the like.

Laim Neeson is the **** as Ra's. Perfect casting. Gary Oldman is ace as Gordon. My favorite scenes of BB are Batman's two meetings with Gordon. And Batman on the building-edge with his cape billowing in the wind? F---ing boss.

I love the sources of inspiration on TDK. Batman #1 and TKJ? Perfect.

I'll wait for others to get the ball rolling and then come back. I look forward to a fruitfull discussion.

i want to see Nolanites say some nice things about Burton's films first. :oldrazz:

okay:

1. the scene with young Bruce and young Gordon
2. some of the docks scene
3. the ending

Things I love about BB:

Cillian Murphy.

Liam Neeson.

Michael Caine.

Gary Oldman.

Morgan Freeman.

Christian Bale.

The Tumbler.

The entire script.

Bruce Wayne's characterization.

The "Swear to me!" scene.

Things I loved about BB

The score & cinematography

The entire first half before he returns to Gotham is a brilliant interpretation of his origins.

The scene at the docks

The rooftop scene

The Tumbler

The scene with Batman standing on a rooftop overlooking Gotham (iconic IMO)

The suit not the cowl but the suit itself

The scenes between Bruce and Alfred especially the one after the car chase

Batman calling a swarm of bats to create a diversion

Public Bruce Wayne being made into a total dick as opposed to a ditzy rich man like in the comics, animated series an older movies. IMO a more interesting take on that personality.

What I'm excited about the most for TDK is that the media will finally have a presence in the film, Batman influencing others on both sides of the fences, In terms of characteristics and mannerisms Heath is going to be a great Joker I know this just because of Batman # 1 & 2's influence on the film. I'll put my rep on this board on the line and dare say it will be the first supervillain performance to get a nod since Pacino in Dick Tracy.

Batman growing as a character and getting more lost within the symbol he has created. Harvey Dent & transformation into Two-Face finally being explored in depth. Gordon will no longer be just a stock character.

Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine were truly fantastic in their roles.

And, I loved the fear gas effects.

Oh yeah all the detective work he did in the film even that early on in his career. A lot of people tend to miss that. Batman eavesdropping on the DA in his civies was a nice touch.

The scene between Batman and Dr. Crane at Arkham.

The amazing cast sans Holmes. The origin, very well done. The Batman personality and voice. Besides a few things I don't like, TDK seems to be going well.

1. The "Does it come in black?" line
Many will call this a bad "one-liner" but actually I thought it was great. The whole Bruce Wayne characterisation was good. He knew he was acting theatrically and showed a bit of self-irony. This reminds me of the good ol' 70s, when Batman was not a depressed psychopath "who sees his parents gunned down every night" and uses every criminal'sface as a substitute for his parents' killer's. This is the Batman who tries to save people from crime, not prevent them from suffering a loss like he did and NOT to therapy himself. A hero instead of the grimmy anti-hero. Reminds me a lot of the Denny O'Neill Batman

2. Liam Neeson as R'as was perfect

3. The last meeting between Batman and Gordon was brilliant

4. Cillian Murphy's speeches when he said that a guy like he is will not frighten someone like Falcone and to Rachel Dawes when he said that here rules only the mind. I could really FEAL that this is the guy from the comics who was bullied and tormented as a child.

5. Batman calling the Bats

6. Arkham Asylum looked good

7. Michael Caine played a good Alfred

8. The Dock scene

Oldmann as Gordon= Brilliance

I like the tumbler

Murphy as Scarecrow=Brilliance

Neeson as Ra's=Brilliance

The cut of Batman's cape looked better, more like a wingshape, the idea of the lenght was good as well and the scene with the many Bats was a very well done.

As for TDK, can't say yet gotta watch the movie first. ^^

Absolutely loved Batman in Arkham, when he summons the bats. The look of content awaiting on his face a few moments before he drops the device down the center of the swarm is subtle, but classic. It was one of the few times in BB where we have a 100% pure Batman we know and love. So yeah, the Arkham scene is without question my favorite part of the movie.

Liam Neeson makes another fantastic mentor character.

Gary Oldman fits seemlessly into his role.

And my second favorite scene:

GORDON: "I never said thank you."

BATMAN: "And you'll never have to." (jumps off and glides quickly toward camera with the title of the movie flashing onto the screen)

While BB was not the best Batman movie, there are clues throughout that Christopher Nolan is very capable of making the best Batman movie, which I expect for TDK.

you know, i think i may just do that just to see what you'd say Joker, lol.

i guess you could call me a fan of the anti-hero batman, not the heroic do gooder batman. but anyways, there is too much to say in just one sentence, so i'd rather not. i am a batman fan, and i love all the batman films, but strangely, Begins for me is the odd man out with this franchise. it just didnt feel like a batman film to me, more like a bruce wayne bio-pic. i have a hard time watching it. the villians just werent VILLIANS, and werent developed enough. only parts to me that i thought was cool was the last 7-10 minutes when batman is talking with gordon. at that point, i was watching a Batman film. too bad the rest of this movie didnt have this feel to it. thats why im hopeing the TDK will be less indie film and more summer blockbuster, like its supposed to be.

I like both Burton and Nolan's movies...anyone who doesnt like both of them is an idiot with horrible taste that cant deal with different interpretations of a character, both of which were true to different eras of the comics...this whole Burtonite vs Nolanite s**t needs to just f**king stop, as it's ******ed as hell.

This isn't a bash BB thread. Please take it to another thread. Thank you.

Tee hee

OOOOh look at me! I like BOTH films!

Seriously, this thread is hilarious.

Yeah I don't get the spat one way or the other.

Burton's films are great.

Nolan's film is great.

What's the point to any of these "Burton vs. Nolan" threads???

Put me down as another "hey, I love Burton's and Nolan's films" kind of guy.

Heck, I even like Batman Forever.

Doc clearly said in his first post that absolutely no ill talk of BB should take place in here, you should respect that and edit your post. There are plenty of other places where you can complain about BB.

It started when people started saying BB was the only good Batman movie ever, and everyone who liked the Burton movies got pissed off.
