Apocalypse Olivia Munn IS Psylocke!

Frumpy? I think the word someone was searching for was "classy". The X-women looked classy in the original trilogy. At least as civilians

In battle, the X-women had costumes that very much showed off their curves in the original trilogy. Form-fitting black leather (a lot more than the mens' suits) isn't exactly hiding someone's curves, especially when the curves are built into the costume, along with molded boob armor.

Anyway, Psylocke's costume is clearly designed to be seen as a sort of glamorous blur in motion. I'm sure it will work fine onscreen.

I hope she's a different kind of X-Men female villain. The one that actually sides with the X-Men at the end of the film. We haven't seen that yet. Though it feels kinda weird that she would be older than Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Nightcrawler, Storm.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too surprised if Apocalypse's horsemen turn on him at some point and band together with the other mutants.

From Oscar Isaac's recent comments on the final battle scene (see below), one could definitely surmise that Apocalypse will be left standing alone. Of course, we won't know that for sure until we see the movie.

Oscar Isaac: "I mean that last battle is going to be pretty insane. I mean, it’s like freaking Apocalypse fighting all of the X-Men. It’s pretty cool."

Well translated = It has the basic look of the comic costume it's emulating.
Well adapted = Making it look as if it belongs in the movie-verse.
But we've seen 2 pictures and that's it.
So you can't really say it's well adapted until you see the movie or it in motion. The same thing is being said about Psylocke and Apocaypse all from a picture. We don't know how anything will look until it's on screen.

See, posts like this annoy me.

You try using the reasoning of 2 pics only so I can't have a negative judgment, yet no one says this sort of post to anyone who is pure positively in love with it WITH THE SAME 2 PICS.

That sort of hypocrisy is always so annoying.

I never said you can't have a problem with it. I'm talking in regards to your post about it being adapted well. We can't really say yet because we haven't seen it yet. I like the look but it could be crap when I see it on screen.

Hmm thats a bit much if everyone is against Apocalypse... like during the climax. But we'll see.

Except it doesn't for everyone. :whatever:
It looks good to me, her costume has been getting more praise than any of the others costumes. Also the costume is well fitted buuuuuut she's slouching in that pic with apocalypse and storm which makes the costume look frumpy.

That EW cover looked awesome. Close to perfection imo. I also really like Storms design

Thankfully, no one has advocated for her actual Death costume. Trust me, this swimsuit is much, much better.

I don't think it's hypocrisy at all! If a noted filmmaker/ A-list actor is making a film, the expectation is that the film will be good. Hence even if the film in the trailers et al doesn't look as appealing, people will want to give the films a chance. If that film looks good on viewing the trailer, think of it as checking two boxes- a good crew behind the film and a film that looks potentially good. Thus, the extra excitement.

The same analogy works with judging costumes off first viewing. If Shyamalan is making a film and a 'difficult' costume looks good people will still be circumspect about it working on screen. If it looks bad, they'll lose their ****.

Singer, for all his aversion to giving comic accurate costumes is a big name in the industry and people tend to trust him. If he dished out something that looks good people are more excited and if it doesn't look as good, some would still want to give it a chance. It's not hypocrisy. It's just erring on the side of the known, if you will.

I don't know if you agree with this or not, but I think I've sufficiently explained what I think.

The one thing I'm still a bit surprised about is her resemblance to Jennifer Lawrence. They have very similar facial features. You can't tell on that magazine cover though. They enhanced her Japanese features a bit.

The outfit, on the other hand, is not bad. It markets to male populations and to traditional fans from the 90's era. It's the first time we get something so comic-accurate so I don't think the fans should mind.

Nonetheless, they should totally keep Psylocke for future films and write a stronger character that will refuse to be objectified that way (switch to uncanny x-force outfit). Fox has a great franchise to give audiences good messages!

^aNarcHy2day, I get and understand where you're coming from, but from being on these boards, that's not the mindset that is used most of the time when it comes to the positive/negative view on a character's costume/make-up, and it gets annoying to pretty much be implied to be a hater because of having an issue on the negative side about a costume, where those who blindly love it get passed on for no reason.

I know what you are saying because I myself haven't been fair on peoples opinions and i'm trying to relax a little. But right now the excitement from fans and the audience for this is at an all time high. There is a lot of positivity towards Bryan, Fox and the X-Men universe. So you will get a lot of people who are going to defend it. In comparison check out the F4 boards. You can go on there and bag out the movie, and it's the way it is. But defend it and you find yourself getting attacked. I've had that over there because i've stuck up for the movie. Every topic, movie, forum is different in regards to that.

I think what is true here is that people who aren't keen on certain aspects are within their rights to feel that way but the one good thing about our X forums is the people are still going to see the movie and are excited by it. There isn't negativity about the story, or where Bryan is taking it, or how well it would be. Everyone is excited about that. And can't wait for it.

I've thought about doing that a few times, because I honestly think the movie looks decent, but...nah. I know a lost cause when I see one.

I'm not, but I try not to rain on people's parade as much as I can.

Thankfully, it is only for a few panels.

That cover is ****ing awesome.

Love the art for that run. Don't know if there is any way to translate it to screen, but the designs fit the tone of that book. And overall it still destroys at least 90% of all X-Men books...and modern Marvel books in general.

Still think her later UXF Vol1 Remender/Opena suit would have been the best compromise. But I'm more then stoked with what they gave her here for the film.
