Whoa, it was originally intended for PETER to be the father of Gwen's "super-kids"???? Daaang, i didnt know that. Wow, that woulda been an IMMENSE mistake on Joe's part. That woulda destroyed so much of the Spiderman legacy, im glad he changed it at the last minute even though it still ended up a crappy story.

Man I have ta tell ya....no matter how bad Pete being the father of the wonder kids would have been as a reveal......it pales in comparison to the travesty of having Norman the father

Have to agree with you on that one. At least Pete being the Father would've SOMEWHAT made some vague sense!

I wonder what route JMS was going to go....? Would he have made it so Osborn kidnapped the kids and genetically altered them:huh:

Either way, wouldn't have been that great. But I dunno, Brubaker proved with Bucky that it's all in the delivery

I don't know. Sins Past could have only been saved by a Mysterio plot or something at the end of it. Peter being the parent of two illegitimate kids by a girl he banged 7 or 8 years ago (his time) who are now super-aged and mad at daddy for running out on them is bad...although I don't know if it would have been as bad as Gwen doing Norman, getting pregnant, sneaking off to have the babies, lying about it to Peter, telling MJ, or whatever.

It woul dhave taken a Mysterio "Ha ha ha....I've known your identity for years, and now I've used that to my advantage..." reveal at the end for me to have enjoyed it...and I still wouldn't be able to go back and read it without hurling.

Yeah neither works I admit......but if someone put a gun to my head and said I had to pick one reveal, after dislodging three bullets from my cranium I'd pick Pete as the Father ftw!!

I feel the same way! Norman as the father was unforgiveable...if JMS said "I was going to be killed if I didn't choose, and I chose Peter, but Joe Q made me change it", then I might forgive him...but only if he'd takn a couple of shots to the kneecaps, first.

In this case, however, Marvel has made far too much investment in "Brand New Day" as being Spidey's new status quo, what with all the art previews, interviews, and recently the leaked "Spider-Man bible" that came out a few days ago, it may be too late to back out. .
Can you link me to it, or repeat it please, i've been outta the loop for a few days.
Thanks.

Don't forget that Sarah tried to seduce Peter... Where the Hell is Maury Povich...

Ok, can anyone tell me the new street dates for Sensational#41 and ASM#545?

I thought Sins Past was going to reveal that Norman had taken Gwen by force, and upon discovering she was pregnant, she fled to England to have the children in secret...

For me, that would have been the saving grace. I had no problen with that story until Straz tried to tell us Gwen, who was so obviously head over heels in love with Peter a freaking BLIND MAN could see it, jumped into bed with Norman at the drop of a hat. :cmad:

To me, that would have made Gwen more of a victim, and Norman more of a villain.

Hey Marvel.com says part 3's comin this week, november 7th. So...was the delay a false alarm, it looks like they pushed it back up.

Thanx for the dates guys, and Capt,- I would have still hated SP if Norman forced himself on Gwen, just not quite as much.

It still would have made no sense in terms of continuity.

Well how about Rape but there are no Babies... Or Norman cloned Babyu May and used his Gobln Formula to accelerate her age turning the Baby May clone into a Spyder Goblin? OM! I'm starting to think like the "Creative" team at Marvel... BRB *Gunshot*

The reason its delayed (supposedly) is that the entire last part of the series has to be re-written and drawn. They are changing the fact of what happens because word got out to some folks and it got a groan even bigger than the clone saga....

Proof? Because as far as I know, OMD is being delayed because of Quesada's ridiculously slow drawing speed.

So they're re-writing a future story about past stories being unwritten? :oldrazz:

Yeah... I thought so too.

The WORST thing that could have happened would have been for Peter to find out that the kids were his... and that Norman had physically experimented on them and turned them into psycho killers, who were dying. Double YIKES. :csad:

I have to disagree..the worst thing happened.....Gwen willingly sleeping with Norman is "far" worse than Pete having kids...even if they're experimented on...why?....cause at least the characterization would be on.....Norman screwing around with the physiology of anyone's kids is well within the realm of believability....Gwen leaving with the kids and not telling Pete is a stretch but conceivable......

....Gwen's been painted a ****e for bumping uglies with an old man...not just an old man but the father of her current boyfriend's best friend...there are crack ****es that would find that action offensive!!!... and MJ's been painted with have the emotional maturity of a 2 year old for not telling Pete, full well knowing the inner turmoil that's been his life since the day Norman murdered Gwen.....(or maybe she's just a ***** who enjoys seeing her husband suffer??...:whatever: )

..nahhh I',m sorry...."anything" would have been better than how SP ended..."anything!!"

We all talked about that to death when the damn arc actually happened.

I actually think that would've made it quite great story within the Spider-Man mytho's. Rape is a very serious and painful thing, and not to trivialise it, but Norman doing something like that would've been very much in character, and would've added greater layer to the Peter/Norman/MJ/Harry relationship.

It would've been intune as to why Norman dashed for Gwen, (wanting to keep HIS kids, and Gwen wanting to tell Peter what happened. It would've also made sense to her deepening depression at the time, which became a bit forced.) MJ should've been shocked and saddened by the truth, and we could've had some sort of a reveal that some vague knowledge of this sunk Harry deeper into drug addiction.

It would've worked, (regardless of fadom's actually feelings of the story.) But alas, we got the pile of crap that was SP. And the only other option was JMS' slightly less crappy idea of making Peter the Father :(

Well, at least it's all about to be retconned

You know, the one of the things that REALLY pissed me off was the idea that Pete and Gwen never slept with each and other:huh:
While there was the comics code and all that, (so love making couldn't be approached,) but this WAS the swinging 60's! Stan Lee wrote them as calling each and other 'lover,' all the time! I think it was pretty obvious to all the adult readers at the time...

And while it's debable that Pete/Betty did the nasty, Gwen and Pete were 1st true loves in college as adults. If Pete's the 'everyman,' I can honestly say that every man on these forums made love with the 1st woman they fellin love with as a young adult. In fact the retcon makes the Peter/Gwen relationship a bit 'weird' IMO

What's EVEN WEIRDER, is that it insinuates that while staying with Peter for so long, calling him, 'lover,' and never sleeping with him, Gwen decided to lose her virginity to Norman,() NOT use protection, ( ) And run away!

It also retcons the end of Spider-Man: Blue, which is one of the greatest Spider-Man graphic novels of all time

SO many plot holes you can use SP as a net!

You should win a Pulitzer for this post.

well said.....perfectly said actually.... ...I mean I'd be hard pressed to believe that someone could defend this tripe as a what-if story given the bizarre assumptions one would have to make....but as a continuity piece?....dayyummm. .....
