Comics What would be a good starting point for reading Brand New Day?

I haven't read a Spider-Man comic in years but I loved it when I did. However, it seems most of the Astonishing Spider-Man comics I picked up here in the UK, reprinting Spider-Man stories, were just the Clone Saga.

Eventually, I just grew out of the comics before the Clone Saga was over and Civil War peaked my interest in perhaps picking it up again. Then a friend showed me One More Day, and I got put right off again. However, after seeing comments about the Brand New Day stories, I thought since I've found a store near where I live that sells Amazing, I may try picking up a Brand New Day story or go back to Astonishing which is still on Civil War.

^^ Enough of my rambling..my point is, are there any particular arcs in BND to recommend as an entry point? Or should I just go ahead and buy Astonishing again for Civil War and stop when it gets to One More Day?

I'd suggest with ASM #546, which is the first issue of BND... I'd think they'd still be cover price (or possibly less if you buy in bulk)... I've heard that a few stores have them in reduced bins...

However, things really start to pick up around the New Ways to Die arc (ASM #568-573), which finally starts hinting at what Peter did to make everybody forget, so you could start there as well... you just won't know who the "new" supporting cast members are...

Also, there have been 3 ASM Extras that have been released since BND began, which provide soem extra insight as to what's going on...

Good luck...

:yay:

I'd say hit the discount bins. You can easily find MOST of the run in there.

Yup. Better yet, go to a comic convention, and you can find them in droves for dirt cheap! The only one that is hard to come by is one featuring some overhyped politician....you might have heard of him...:cwink:

The rest are pretty easy to find, though.

hmmm...question, do they even sell recent Amazing spiderman comics in the UK? I've been there before and i'm aware that they print old stories in "Astonishing Spiderman". But are there shops that get more recent ones? I might be moving to the UK, so im just wondering.

There is a few comic shops that sell them, I'm sure. The one I saw that sells them is in Liverpool called 'Worlds Apart' that had the Character Asassination arc and had a few copies of the Obama one, and I think it had a couple more, not sure, the Obama issue I was tempted to pick up and yet ended up walking out with an action figure and a plushie.

I read the Obama issue on the store. It was a piece of crap not even worth paying for. Talk about cheese.

^^^that was a good issue the Obama part was stupid.

why don't you just get the BND trades they're not that expensive but if you can find all the issues for a bargin go for it.

Any issue, really. Just as long as it's not in the middle of a multi-issue story, you'd be fine starting anywhere.

And definitely read the Paperdoll arc(ASM 559-561) which is collected in Amazing Spider-Man Brand New Day Volume 3 if you can't get the all 3 issues issues
