Which issue of the 600+ original batman comics should a newbie start from. Not a newbie to comics or batman just a newbie to the original line of comics

Dont...wait till Morrison is off, then start...or, get some of the trades, like Hush volumes 1 and 2, or the ones that are going though and compiling every issue ever.
 
I would suggest some of the TPB's since Batman unlike a superhero group like the X-Men doesn't have such a rotating cast of characters and that makes Batman more accessible to newer readers.
 
Start with the first few years or so (1939-1941) and then skip ahead to the late 1960s. The stuff between 1942 and 1966 is for completists only (like me.)
