I'd like to know what the heck this deal of this being the last one is? I mean they rushed this one out. Finished off a few good people and now it seems its the final one. Where did something go wrong? Does this have to do anything with Marvel now making its own movies and releasing them under Paramount? What happens from here on out?

X-Men magically became a trilogy when Fox suddenly realised that trilogies were all the rage and they could cash in on films like Matrix Revolutions and Return of The King.

Unfortunately those films were planed as trilogies from the outset, whereas X3 was contrived for marketing purposes.

What i meant to say was why is it decided that this wil ONLY be a trilogy and nothing beyond that? Whats with this Rothman i also keep reading about? Someone please fill me in as i never set foot in this forum before last week!

Rothman's the producer at Fox who was behind most (if not all) of the major decisions that shaped the film we now call X3. He's a contraversial figure on these boards (to put it nicely).

The Trilogy line was just marketing. However Fox have made NO commitments or even hinted at X4. There's speculation amoung fans but I think that's just wishful thinking.

If X3 suceeds then Fox will greenlight a "Wolverine" solo-franchise. That's why the characters in X3 were so disposable.

It's just marketing & money. Why bother with the hassle of an ensemble film when you can focus on the #1 character instead?
