Wow.

Powerful for a low budget film. I was honestly impressed.

Better than the first.

Wow. Another person.

How good can this DTV **** be?

Nothing.

Just humans killing one another like in real life.

Listen here i'am not going to spend my dang money on some movie that didn't even make the theaters. Now you give me one good reason why I should watch this rotten movie. The first one was bad enough that it even made my teeth get sucked down in my pants! so my answer is no.

The first one was great, one of the best subtle suspense horror/survival films ever.
I'll be getting the sequel soon on netflix, it doesn't sound all too promising though.

Yea, that's exactly what I thought too.

But I took the risk, and was truly surprised; it uses the same tactics as The Descent. (hell it's up there with the Descent by todays Hollywood standard)

It had better overall directing, cinametography, and better acting and script for a movie spending over twenty hours in the sea. You actually cared for the characters this time around. Some hilarious scenes also.

It's actually not a sequel. In the U.K. it got a theatrical release under the name of "Adrift". Due to the similar themes of "Open Water" here in North America, however, they bypassed theatres and slapped the title on it making it: Open Water 2: Adrift. There's nothing in common except for the idea of people stranded in the ocean. There are no sharks in "Adrift" either.

It's just a marketing ploy to get people to rent it. Kinda like how they slap "National Lampoon's" on any dumb comedy that goes straight to video.

I don't think that's entirely accurate,
In the first one before someone dies they say the Our Father, and a woman does the same in this, it's too referential to not be a sequel.

Anyways, I just got done watching it, and surprisingly I loved it. The human drama was handled quite well, as good if not better than the first one in that aspect.

It's not nearly as tense and suspenseful and I missed the documentary style cinematography, but still a very good film, especially for one I was almost positive would be pure ****.

i hated the first one with a passion, and i wouldn't touch this one with a 39 and a half foot pole.

seriously, the first one made me want to kill myself... or at least gouge my eyes out... okay, maybe not that either, but it sure did suck.
