The Dark Knight Opening Titles anyone?

Yeah really, too long.

I've been up to all sorts of stuff lol. Lots-o new projects. :woot:
Sorry, REALLY late reply. I kinda forgot about this thread. Haha.

But that's cool.

I've just been going to school and all that.

:(

I know its not a major part of the film but since this film is part of a franchise and not a standalone film, what better way of pumping up the fans?

I remember getting pumped for SM2 and SM3 when listening to the theme music and I think alot of Bat fans will too.
I think im already pretty damn pumped up seeing as how im currently browsing movie boards for a film that doesnt come out for a year. And it's safe to say when I'm sitting in that theater 2 hours early (to ensure a good seat) at midnight, I'll already be the most pumped up pump that ever did pump. I don't think the titles play a big part, and i really liked the Begins short opening thing. It really sent a shiver up my spine.

I don't really care in all honesty. I'm there to see the film and that's that.

I have mixed feelings for this one. I love being able to listen to the hero's theme itself and see some neat visuals, but I'm not sure if something like that would be out of place for Nolan's Batman.

I dunno.

But either way, I'm sure it will kick ass... though I had a nightmare that the film came out and was like a rehash of Batman 89 mashed with Batman and Robin... and it sucked. :csad:

It'd be fine if it was either way...

However.

Christopher Nolan doesn't strike me as the kind of filmmaker who would go for the self-indulgence of the opening credits sequence.

that's ridiculous. so many goddamn movies have opening sequences. self indulgent my butt.

and like every religion this one has crazy people who are obssesed.

:woot:

I'm not obsessed. :( :(

And I like more colors you just posted, MiniBond. The combo of the green & purple doesn't look too bad. It kinda of a way to give out that the Joker is in it with the colors there. But like others said, I prefer the dark blue. I don't want colorful look for the opening theme. I just like to see how things look, even if I don't want it in the movie. :)

Couldn't agree more !:cwink: :woot:

QFT.

Actually it's more self-indulgent NOT to have an opening titles sequence. A credits sequence is the norm - in fact don't the filmmakers have to pay the Director's Guild or somebody a fine if they don't have one? I thought it was a union regulation or something because George Lucas got busted for it for not having a title sequence in Star Wars.

Anyway, from a purely stylistic continuity perspective, I'd prefer TDK not to have one because BB didn't either. I also quite like the way BB threw you straight into the movie and I LOVED the swarming bat-logo. They have to do that again.

Or an exploding Bat logo. :o We'd have known the title sequence the whole time!:wow:

I agree that opening titles do get you more pumped but I just like what BB did, with the bats forming into a bat-symbol. I want TDK to do something like that but not the same thing

I'm a film maker and the flying bats was a nice touch. however, opening titles sequences take away from action movies. the opening of TDK should be similar to begins but not the same.it should also go with the same blue theme as we've seen before. i'll be extremely disappointed if nolan has opening credits.

There just opening credits, not the movie

I really liked the approach with BEGINS -- no credits, no title, just the logo and then wham, you're into the movie. And how eloquently the title is revealed at the end of the movie, when Batman truly begins.

I would have that approach for THE DARK KNIGHT, and it furthermore makes me think that the ending of that particular film will see Batman in a darker place than we've ever seen him before.

Can't wait. Gets me excited just thinking about it.

Was this part suppose to give your opinion a little more leverage? LOL

So was it bad in Begins?

Yes. It was too jarring. You had music that didn't fit the garden scene because it was following on from the bats, it was wierd.

I for one want a credit sequence.

You could still have the WB symbol and the DC symbol, then the Bats flapping in a CGI sky, then the credits. I think that would suit everybody.

I'm not a film maker, but i still disagree with you. I loved the FF credits and the Superman credits, and the B89 credits. All great, all really inventive and entertaining.
I think it actually can help a film rather than hinder it, if done right.

Since this has the joker, I'd love a title sequence that was homage to Batman 89s title sequence.

i guess that big explosion they just did in London is supposed to be the opening sequence

I think these stories are way too fat to have a lengthy title sequence, and I loved what they did in BB. It felt like they didn't have to eat crap, because they had a monster story to tell about a legend, and they needed to get right to it. That sense of urgency and importance is what I think these bat-films are all about.
