O'Reilly, Colbert to trade appearances

Tue Jan 9, 4:42 PM ET

It may feel like looking into the mirror for Bill O'Reilly and Stephen Colbert next week. The Fox News Channel host and Colbert, who has essentially based his comic character every evening on Comedy Central on him, will trade appearances on each other's programs Jan. 18.

"I'm really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me," O'Reilly said.

On "The Colbert Report," Colbert portrays a self-involved talk-show host who has tried to bring "truthiness" to the world. His character owes an obvious debt to O'Reilly, who holds court in the "no-spin zone" each evening.

On "The O'Reilly Factor," O'Reilly portrays a ... um, he hosts the top-rated program in cable news.

"I look forward to the evening," Colbert said. "It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O'Reilly."

should be entertaining, to say the least. i look forward to colbert embarassing him with his pattented brand of satire.

Can't wait.

O'Reilly...too bad he didn't create the "No-Owning Zone" because that is whats about to happen.

man, this is going to be AWESOME!!!!!!! O'reilly really messed up, he's going to be made into a chump WILLINGLY

Predicition: O'Reily will try to mimick Colbert's biting satire and embarassingly fail miserably.

Anyone know when this is going down. Gotta set my tivo. :ninja:

the article says it'll be on january 18th.

The O'Reilly Factor should be unusually funny, that day. The Colbert Report... should be funny for an entirely different reason. :D

I kinda hope some national tragedy occurs while Colbert is doing this, just to see what would happen. I know, I need help. :(

I just don't know how a comedian like Colbert would handle the pressure of a national crisis erupting live while he's on the air. It would be interesting to see how he would transition from what will probably be a mocking of serious anchors to a very somber tone by having to become one.

colbert's not actually a news anchor, though. he wouldn't tastelessly mock a national tragedy. he'd comment on it maybe, but he's smart enough to know when to make fun of a subject and when not to.

Pretty much, yeah.
Remember Jon Stewart on Crossfire? :woot:

I'll catch Colbert on the O'Really factor on the repeat at 10.

Olbermann comes on at 7, and I always watch that

It's owning time!

That's not a word is it?

Colbert, who gave a picture of O'Reilly to the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, recently returned to reclaim the picture in anticipation of an upcoming appearance by O'Reilly, or so Esten Perez, Institute of Politics Director of Communications says. O'Reilly himself received a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government in 1996.

They've both come along way.

The Factor is taped in the afternoon and I don't believe Colbert will be in character. He's never done an interview (60 Minutes, Charlie Rose, Late Night, Late Show etc.) in character and he wants viewers to see it is a character. Plus I'm sure Bill would like to see Stephen's Geraldo Riveria impression.

O'Reilly is a big blubbering vagina; it's so cute how he cuts everyone off when they start to make valid points.
