Organic "Victor": A Doombot All Along? (new photo inside)

It must be very hard for you carrying the weight of speaking for the majority of the audience out there.

He probably should have worded it in a nicer way, but I think he's totally correct.

Which part.....

The fact that people who think that doombots could be used are idiotic....

Or......the main audience would think it contrived??????

How do we know what the audience would do........

The doombots have been used by Doom in many instances in F4 history, and used quite well.....he's a genius....for him to come up with something like this is nothing to him......if Doom's genius is used in pulling this scenario together....it would go directly with who he is in the comics....

To me the audience taking that Doom suddenly becomes human again....would be laughable to the audience....

I guess I need to know exactly what you are commenting on to properly reply.....

^Doom becomes human again is better than Doom being a robot and it happens that there is more than one out there.

Ok....fair enough.......why?

It is the same thing as clones in the Spider-Man saga. It is a cheap cop-out IMO. I mean it works in comics and video games like nothing else, but I think it would be way to cheap for the big screen. What would be more visually stunning...Victor abosrbing the power of the SS and returning to normal or Thing punching Doom and his eye pops out and sparks shoot from his ears...then Doom walks out and laughs. We know Doom is going to take or try to take SS's power cosmic, why not do the single task Doom wanted to have happen in the first movie, look normal to try and win over Sue and be the face of a major company. Doom bots will not work in a movie and I hope it doesn't happen.

Alright then......:yay:

I hope that Doom get's SS powers and heals himself. I agree that this idea would work better with the general public. I would have the Doombots look like the Doom in armor.

The reason a Doombot scenario is better is it basically throws the first movies horrible version of Doom out and gives us a chance to have a legitimate Doom.

Doubt this will be the case though. That would be too faithful to the comics.

Welcome back.

Do you remember us talking about this a couple of years ago on PM?

Story's blog comments gives me great hope...he used the words "classic look" and "touching on his roots...." hopefully that means gypsy, possible sorcereress mother/gypsy healer father, and of course, ascending to the throne of Latveria.

Holy cats, I just discovered this thread. Could I have been right about Doom all along? :doom:

This is how I think it should be done... but it'll never happen.
1) like WL said, they'd be throwing out pretty much the entire development of his character from FF1.
2) They'd be back pedaling and losing face.
3)Such a chapter would be too isolated from the Silver Surfer's storyline (I say this out of common sense and based on my own personal knowledge of these characters even though they've been tweeked to the point of being completely different characters altogether).

Unless there's news stating otherwise, it looks as if he has healed from Norrin's Power Cosmic (if that's what they're referring it as in this film). I mean, it could go either way if it were written well, scripted well, etc...
but I think we're all aware of this production company's track record eh?
Mmaarrkk here wants to just jump the gun and say cheeeeese! However, I've got no reason not to go ahead and give the "know it alls" making this movie the benifit of the doubt that they just might have possibly could have, actually learned from their mistake last time!?

ROTFLMFAO
nah. I think the campy factor is still going to be there, and such a factor is BEGGGGING for a scenario of VVD using the SS's powers to heal himself; aaaaannnnnnnddddd, I suspect they'll do it fashioned close to the way he was toying with the healing factor in FF1. Campy, cheesy and full o' popcorn.
If I missed some piece of news or anything and my post here reflects as such, please feel free to update me, although I've pretty much been doing a hellova lot of reading here so far this morning.

Blah... Kids, remember, all nighters may be fun at first, but you'll pay the next morning if you're not responsible. Do as I advise, not as I make example as. :o

Hey 'yall, tell me what you think of the belt buckle I sculpted (My avatar). I've been doing alot of different one's within the last year for Affliction Clothing Line. I only make myself look like I'm doing a bunch of shameless self promoting because I'll post up some of these Marvel & DC characters I've been doing here and there for people along the way as well..

BTW, for those who may remember my sorry arse, It's good to see some you bastards (well your words and ***** anyway). I've been busier than a one legged UFC contender. Lots of art, music, personal drama, family issues, psychotic girlfriends, overt partying, fights, you name it! Ummm. ... yeah.

Welcome back Knucklehead...you've been missed around here. ;)

The reason a Doombot scenario is better is it basically throws the first movies horrible version of Doom out and gives us a chance to have a legitimate Doom.

Doubt this will be the case though. That would be too faithful to the comics.

And it would ruin the movie for many of us, who would find the dismissal of a big chunk of the first movie off-putting. I'm glad you guys can just totally dismiss the first movie from your minds, but many of us can't.
Finding out the Doom from the first movie was a Doombot makes no sense, so you would have to pretend the first movie Doom didn't really exist. WAY too huge a leap. I can't belive you really hate the first Doom THAT much. You do realize that most movie goers would HATE it, don't you?

I can't see that playing down well.

Person 1: "Hey dude, I just got done seeing FF2."

Person 2: "Cool! So, was it any good?"

Person 1: "It was okay. There was some weird parts in it though. Hey, did you know the first Doom in FF1 was a Doombot?"

Person 2: "A what?"

Yeah...it wouldn't go down well. I've always thought of Doombots as contrived plot band-aids from the getgo, and don't see the appeal to them.

Kuro is a long time reader of the comic......and somewhat of a purist....his opinion will ALWAYS err to the side of the comic in its purist form.....nothing wrong with that....its just he strongly believes the way he believes....

"most' movie goers.........quantify that......

Non-purists with a logical mind who don't like to be taken for fools.

The general movie going public, in other words.

Not necessarily, I happen to be one of those general movie going public.....and I understand much of what the purists were asking for this movie....it wasn't much when looked at "logically" and could have happened.....and had it happened....the movie would have probably been better for "all audiences". As far as Doom was concerned in the first movie.....he was absolutely nothing like the comic doom.....the comic doom was and still is the villain of villains......why in the world would you not want to put the villain that was the forerunner to so many of the great villains almost exactly as he is in the comic.....if villains like Darth Vadar were good enough for the big screen, and developed with Doom in mind, if he's good enough for the big screen, then why wasn't the "REAL DOOM" good enough for the big screen????? we had a semi-mask that was sort of based on Doom, nothing else was.....that was a travesty....had nothing to do w ith purism....it had everything to do with respect for one of the greatest villains in comicdom....and he got absolutely no respect.

Purists does not mean non-logical.....unless you think that all opinions different from yours are not logical....:o

True, but why is it that purists never seem to stand up unless the movie is bad or even a decent popcorn flick?

I mean, with Fantastic Four, I hated Doom, I whole-heartedly agree that everything about him didn't resemble what the character should have been at all. But, the same could be said for a number of successful super hero movies that everyone gets down on their knees and praises.

Long ago, when I walked into X-men, I wanted little midget Wolvie with a bad temper, and you know, just to appease my "purist" side, just one little mention of the word "Bub" just for a nod to the comics. Yet I got 6ft 3' Hugh Jackman, and a melo-dramatic Wolverine.

Skip over to the Spider-man series, I wanted to see a quick witted, funny Peter Parker. What did I get? Emo-Parker, with movie goers and comic fans screaming "He acted just like the comics!" Which left me with that gut wrenching feeling.

What I am saying is, I believe Doom should be done right, but why pick on certain films which did worse at the box office. If purists have to be around why don't I hear them complain more than just about Doom or the Things freakin brow!? Nearly every comic book character was changed once they hit the big screen. We should know by now to expect no justice to the characters pre-existing traits. And by justice to a character, I don't mean a good movie, I mean resembling what the character has always been.

Let me change the label of "purist" to "Lover of the comic" and I'll have that discussion with you....

Apparently you were not here BEFORE the movie came out.....those that loved this comic made their thoughts and opinions known FROM THE START....you are speaking of a few.....a few that are actually no longer on this forum....

People like Cappy, Iron Maiden, Willie.....they STILL support this movie....they wanted a "true to the comic Doom" why? because they know this character and know that this character would resinate with fans of all types.....Thing's brow they see as something that seemed so easy to fix, yet wasn't....???? why????? because it would lessen the emotion???? well they've seen the movie, and they now know that the brow could have definitely been enhanced.....

People that have a negative tilt to their passionate opinion, are usually labeled "purists".....to me they are simply lovers of this comic and this family.....there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a desire to see on screen something that you've had in your mind for 4 decades.....

IF THE CHANGES AND ADAPTATIONS work......then its much easier to move on from those negative vibes....UNFORTUNATELY ..... in my opinion.....it didn't work.....why???? several reasons....ALL that have been discussed numerous times here......

I had absolutely no problem with the changes to Doom that we saw coming for the first movie.....I also had no problem with those that were totally upset about it.......I understood.....

I thought MAYBE we could actually get a really solid villain out of this.....I was wrong.....we didn't......MAYBE we can this time because.....those "purist" that you speak of....continued their passion......and Tim heard them.......I don't know that to be a fact....but he has stated that he has read and has done what he believes should be done....

Thing's brow....well I'm one of those that honestly, just doesn't see alot of change in Thing at all.....MAYBE when I see it on the big screen....I'll see something different and go......YES, that looked really good.....BUT I didn't think Ben looked all that bad in the first movie....so who am I to judge....lol

I look at it simply as this.......those with the opinion "It's gonna ROCK" or "It's gonna SUCK" are no different and deserve IGNORE .....but those that have good solid, well backed reasons for liking or disliking what they've seen thus far.....hey I'll give them the respect and discuss and debate and in the end....enjoy my time here.....labeling people as this or that ..... SUCKS....... and what it ends up doing in the end is putting blinders on you that keep you from truly having intelligent debate....

Ok.....hops off the soap box....

No no, I just discovered the hype around last year. I was not here. I am actually one of those who believed that characters could be left the way they were simply because I do believe a funny Peter Parker, or a menacing Doom could resonate with audiences.

People that have a negative tilt to their passionate opinion, are usually labeled "purists".....to me they are simply lovers of this comic and this family.....there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a desire to see on screen something that you've had in your mind for 4 decades.....

Well I never ment to label anyone, if I were to call anyone a purist it'd be me. I do agree that lovers of the comic should be a better way of labeling me and my fellow fans.

IF THE CHANGES AND ADAPTATIONS work......then its much easier to move on from those negative vibes....UNFORTUNATELY ..... in my opinion.....it didn't work.....why???? several reasons....ALL that have been discussed numerous times here......

A) Right, like black suits in X-men compared to Yellow Spandex.
B)Also right, like Marco Polo.

Well, even though I am still a fan of the first film, god I hope you are right about hearing us. I mean, I don't want the only good super hero films to be super dark and depressing anymore. So far, FF2 is shaping up to be a good balance of light elements and seriousness.

Thing's brow....well I'm one of those that honestly, just doesn't see alot of change in Thing at all.....

You know, as a fan of the comics for a very long time..., I honestly thought, The Thing... looked like The Thing, I never quite got it either.

...but those that have good solid, well backed reasons for liking or disliking what they've seen thus far.....hey I'll give them the respect and discuss and debate and in the end....enjoy my time here.....labeling people as this or that ..... Hey, a fellow debater. I am starting to like you already JMA.

Well WELCOME to posting FB....LOL.....I hope I didn't get to hard on you.....I really do respect alot of the long time fans of this comic on here.....I've learned alot from them....when I feel like they are being labeled....well I kind of get alittle irritated...lol

Looking forward to discussing more with you.....
