I asked why this wasn't made, and someone said I should do it, so here I am making it. The rules of the thread are simple, talk about organic webshooters. Why ya like them over mechanical, etc etc. Those who don't like them are welcomed to jump into the discussion. Just please, no flaming. I don't wanna see any of people saying "Oh you like the organic webshooters? You're the worst spidey fan in existence". :whatever:

Me, I love them. At first I didn't realize that Spider-Man was going to have organic webshooters in the movie. I didn't keep up with movies back then like I do today. In fact, didn't the first set of Spider-Man toys for the movie have a button and a barrel on the wrists? I seem to recall that. So up until I actually saw the movie, I was expecting mechanical shooters. Back then I didn't mind or care. Webshooting is webshooting, but after a while, I grew to like it more. Now it's my #1 preference for Spider-Man's webshooting. As I said before, it should be a power, not a device.

. Once, while fighting Iron Man, Spider-Man supposedly "let loose", allowing his webbing to shoot out unrestrained. After he had stopped, he had generated enough webbing to completely encase Iron Man, and nearly fill the alley in which they were fighting with webbing.

The power of organic webbing! Iron Man had no chance!:hehe:

Always liked the organic webbing (which I believe was originally James Cameron's idea).

Let's face it, Spidey has enough to worry about in life without making sure he's carrying around enough web cartridges.

Plus, having organics could be bring out a painful scene in which a villain breaks his wrists to stop his webbing. I love how brutal that sounds.

Damn, that is brutal. Could make for a powerful climax to a fight. Maybe write/draw your own fan comic so we can see it.

Btw, Brolly, do you know where to find a larger version of the image in the first post? Hard to make out some of the details.

That's the biggest one I found I'm afraid.

The only one I found...:(

I like organic webbing for a lot of reasons. First of all, it's easier to suspend my disbelief about the kinds of things Spider-Man can do with his webs if they are one of his powers. If he's using mechanical web shooters, it should take him a long time to spin an actual net-shaped web like we see him make all the time in Raimi's movies, but because it's part of his powers, we can believe that he can just shoot a some silk and then a web appears. between two walls.

On a more meta-scale though, I prefer that Spidey's webs be one of his powers because that makes them unique to Spider-Man. I mean sure, he's strong and can stick to walls, but at the end of the day, if you have a pair of his web shooters then anyone can be Spider-man. Because the webs are one of his powers, there is only one Spider-Man, and I like it that way. They are arguably his most iconic ability, and I think it's much better for him as a superhero if it's not just a gadget. Wolverine was originally a "gadget character" too until the writer decided that he'd be a much more compelling character if his claws actually came out of his hands rather than simply being in his gloves like they were originally.

They worked fine in the movies, was surprised with the change first, never looked down on it.
Loved the idea as the movie progressed, still adore it

I always felt the organics fit perfectly into Riami's universe. It really did and to this day, I have no problem with it.

I love organics, but this poll may end up lopsided. Their is a dedicated thread to hating them :(

Tobey and Raimi said the reason for ogranics is because if a kid could create the webbing, then he coud create stuff for Nasa. Personally, I see no problem organics or Mechs. It still fit into the story greatly.

I like the thing about mechs and NASA, the dude could have had a job with a big company long ago
Big Time is BIG TIME

Love them when they were there in comics, served their purpose for the time they were there

When I first learned that Cameron planned to use organics I said he was nuts. I was angry when I first learned that Raimi was going this route and even signed an online petition against it. Over time I got used to it and by the time the movie opened, I'd fallen in love with the idea. I also agree with Spider-Aziz.

Anyway, I saw this image on google and don't recall ever seeing it before. Would any of you happen to know if it's legit or fanmade?

To be fair, the song does say "Does whatever a spider can", not "Does most of what a spider can."
