Where I work, the radio is on constantly and of late, the music has been really horrible. it fluctuates between horribly sappy l*ve songs for Valentines Day and the "top hits" it plays every hour on the hour, so being at work and having to listen to it all has been making me kinda crazy.

So I want a place to post lyrics, videos, stories behind songs as well as hear recommendations from other hypesters. I'm a sucker for an awesome lyric, and I guess what's been bugging me is all the songs playing at work that have about as much depth as a rain puddle. Now I will admit, I do enjoy some shallow music too, but I'm in a mood for some good tunes.

So post songs you love, add lyrics and vids if you want and share why you like em or why they're important to you if you like. I've found some of my favorite songs in the most unlikely places.

Be forewarned; i have very eclectic musical tastes, and will be posting songs about all kinds of things from all kinds of genres.

More Than A Feeling -- Boston

I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away

It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
as clear as the sun in the summer sky

It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

When I'm tired and thinking cold
I hide in my music, forget the day
and dream of a girl I used to know
I closed my eyes and she slipped away
She slipped awa y. She slipped away.

It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

One of my favorite songs of all time.

i don't have a Valentine this year :( and while I'm not the kind of girl who gets all sad and mopey about it, I can identify with this song a little bit more this time of year. Its one of my favorite songs.

Queen- Somebody to Love

Can... anybody find be somebody to love?
Each morning I get up I die a little, can barely stand on my feet
Take a look (Take a look at yourself)in the mirror and cry(yeah, yeah)
Lord, what you're doing to me
I have to spend all my years in believing you
But I just can't get no relief Lord
Somebody (somebody) oooh somebody (somebody)
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work hard (he works hard) everyday of my life
I work till I ache my bones, at the end (at the end of the day)
I take home my hard earned pay all on my own
I get down (down) on my knees (knees)
And I start to pray (praise the Lord)
'Til the tears run down from my eyes
Lord somebody (somebody) oooh somebody (please)
Can anybody find me somebody to love? (He wants help)

Every day - I try and I try and I try -
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I'm going crazy, they say I got a lot of water in my brain
Got no common sense, (He's)I got nobody left to believe
Yeah - yeah yeah yeah Oooh
Somebody (somebody)
Can anybody find me somebody to love?(Anybody find me someone to love)
Got no feel I got no rhythm , I just keep losing my beat
(you just keep losing and losing) I'm OK I'm alright (he's alright)
I ain't gonna face no defeat, I just gotta get out of this prison cell
One day I'm gonna be free Lord

Find me somebody to love, find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love, find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love, find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love, find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love, find me somebody to love
Somebody, somebody, somebody, somebody, somebody
Find me somebody, find me somebody to love
Can anybody find me...
Somebody to love

Find me somebody to love, find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love, find me find me find me
Find me somebody to love, Somebody to love
Find me somebody to love...
Find me, find me, find me

Cowboys From Hell -- Pantera

Under the lights, where we stand tall
Nobody touches us at all
Showdown, shootout, spread fear within, without
We're gonna take what's ours to have
Spread the word throughought the land
They say bad guys wear black
We're tagged and can't turn back

Pre-Chorus:
You see us comin'
And you all together run for cover
We're takin' over this town

Chorus:
Here we come, reach for your gun
And you better listen well, my friend, you see
It's been slow down below,
Aimed at you, we're the Cowboys From Hell
Deed is done again, we've won
Ain't talkin no tall tales friend
'Cause high noon, your doom
Comin for you we're the Cowboys From Hell

Pillage the village, trash the scene
But better not take it out on me
'Cause a ghost town is found
Where your city used to be
So out of the darkness and into the light
Sparks fly everywhere in sight
From my double barrel, 12 gauge,
Can't lock me in your cage

Repeat Pre-Chorus
Repeat Chorus

It's a great song because I can play it perfect on Guitar Hero, and it's a great song to pump you up.

More Than A Feeling -- Boston

great song Fran

i heard an acapella version a couple years back that was pretty good too, but i can't remember who it was that sang it.

"Why I Don't Believe In God" - Everclear

I heard the truth about you
And it really doesn't read at all
Like the whipping stick you raised me with
A scared woman in a private hell
Hushed voice like electric bell
Strange talk about Edgar Cayce and the long lame walk of the dark 70's
I heard the truth about you
Yeah you
Mama they woke me up
I was deep in an idiot sleep
I was just eight years old
Heard big words with a horrible sound
Why'd they have to call my school
Tell me my mother had a nervous breakdown
I wish I believed like you do
Yeah you
In the myth of a merciful god
In the myth of a heaven and hell
I hear the voices you hear sometimes
Sometimes it gets so much I feel like letting go
Sometimes it gets so goddamn hard I feel like letting it all go
Letting it all go
I ran away, went looking for you
Back to Culver City and the old neighborhood
Need to know if you were really gone
Need to know if you were gone for good
I ran through the projects at night
Hide in the dark from my friends in the light
Hide from my brother-in-law
Hide from the things he'd say
Said you weren't losing your mind
He said you just needed a rest
He said you'd be coming home soon
He said the doctors there would know what's best
Said that maybe I could go live with them for a while
I know the truth about you
I know the truth
Mama they woke me up
I was just eight years old
Sometimes it gets so hard I feel like letting it go
Letting it all go

Everclear's the king of emotional lyrics, IMO. And this is probably my favorite lyrically.

The latest addition to my cd library are a couple of albums from:

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

He's a Hawaiian musician with a superb cover of Somewhere Over the Rainbow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brRsRTTp1Pw

I never paid much attention to that song before, but he sings it in such a wistful way. I've been throwing his name about every chance I got to support his music, even though he died several years ago.

Thanks. I love that song, because something like that happened to me this past year (where I thought the love of my life slipped away).

Don't really like acapella, I prefer rock.

We Are The Champions -- Queen

I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune
And everything that goes with it
I thank you all
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise
I consider it a challenge before
The whole human race
And I ain't gonna lose

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions

I love this song. It, once again, inspires me and pumps me up. I played it non-stop when the Pistons won in '04 and the Red Wings won in '02.

Be My Baby- Motorhead

Make out, make out, you must run,
Divide & rule, more & more
Say the word, hardcore, hardcore

You live your life, behind your eyes,
You got no life, no disguise,

Be my baby, I ain't gonna cry
Shut your mouth, wanna do the dog,
Sex with needles, gonna get you off
Outlaw, outlaw, no ma'am, no way
Damn shame, I'll say, I'll say
Going to a freak show, to take my pain away.

Breakout, breakout, You must dance,
Divide & fall, more & more,
Save the world, high score, high score,

You live your life, behind the wall,
You got no life, not at all.

Be my baby, I ain't gonna cry
Shut you down, wanna do the dog,
Sex with monsters, gonna get you off
Outlaw, Outlaw, no ma'am, no way
Turn me down, damn shame, I'll say
Going to a gun show, to take my brain away.

Fake out, fake out, you can't leave,
Divide & stall, more & more,
Say the word, webcore, webcore,

You crawl with life, behind your face,
You got no life, no disgrace,

Be my baby, I ain't gonna die
Stay right there, wanna do the dog,
Sex with killers, ain't gonna get them off
Outlaw, Outlaw, no man, no way
Turn me down, damn shame, I'll say
Going to a gun show, to take my shame away.

Black Hole Sun -- Soundgarden

in my eyes
indisposed
in disguise as no one knows
hides the face
lies the snake
in the sun in my disgrace
boiling heat
summer stench
'neath the black the sky looks dead
call my name through the cream
and ill hear you scream again
black hole sun
wont you come
and wash away the rain
black hole sun
wont you come
wont you come
wont you come
stuttering, cold and damp
steal the warm wind tired friend
times are gone for honest men
and sometimes far too long for snakes
in my shoes
walking sleep
and my youth i pray to keep
heaven send hell away
no one sings like you anymore
black hole sun
wont you come
and wash away the rain
black hole sun
wont you come
wont you come
black hole sun
wont you come
and wash away the rain
black hole sun
wont you come
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)

hang my head
drown my fear
til you all just disappear
black hole sun
wont you come
and wash away the rain
black hole sun
wont you come
wont you come
black hole sun
wont you come
and wash away the rain
black hole sun
wont you come
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come (black hole sun black hole sun)
wont you come
wont you come

Amazing song. I wish this band never broke up :csad:

Cigarette Lighter Love Song- Butch Walker

I know you're not asleep
I can feel you moving over there
Youve been playing with the seam
In your worn out underwear
My lips are raw as hell
From biting on them just to stay awake
Its not like Im gonna need them, you wont be around
To see them bleed and break

Chorus:
All that I do, comes back to you
So Ill just think about you
til theres nothing in my head
All I can do, is try not to screw this up again
And just be friends, Id rather be dead

I drove out of east atlanta
With a headache the size of my car
I called to say I was okay anyway
cause I know how you are
Im like a movie without an ending
You know Ive got nowhere to go
And it makes me wanna throw up
To see you wanna give up
More than youll ever know

(chorus)

Bridge:
Everythings supposed to have a happy ending
But the record keeps skipping and the needle keeps bending
Like the road Im driving to the bridge that has no end
I wanna take back everything that Ive broken
But the bridges behind me are burning and smokin
I guess this is the end

(chorus)

i've adored this song since the first time i ever heard it and the live recording is better than the studio version imo.

Audioslave - I Am the Highway

Pearls and swine bereft of me
Long and weary my road has been
I was lost in the cities
Alone in the hills
No sorrow or pity for leaving I feel

I am not your rolling wheels
I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride
I am the sky

Friends and liars don't wait for me
I'll get on all by myself
I put millions of miles
Under my heels
And still too close to you I feel

I am not your rolling wheels
I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride
I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind
I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon
I am the night

I am not your rolling wheels
I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride
I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind
I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon
I am the night

When I first heard this song, it was right after my ex left me because I'm a full-time student instead of working full-time to support her. I'm the journey, not the goal :p

Coldplay - The Scientist
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh let's go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming in tales
Heads are a science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh take me back to the start

I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart

Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start

Running in circles
Chasing tails
And coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start

i do like that version of that song, i heard it in a movie (50 first dates?) and i really liked it

Don't really like acapella, I prefer rock.

its very rare when I like something acapella, but i thought it sounds kinda cool but then again i was like 15 and i was kinda dumb back then lol

"Angles and Errors" - Park

There's a selfless soul I'm seeking
One that wants nothing, just look after me
Such is a seldom seed, planted far from the sun
And full of hope, she's not yet gone

Well lift your sleeves
So bare they might see
Your angles and errors
Arms that have shared you
With every heart etched in your skin
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry, for who I am

If such a pillowed hand worth holding
Staggers into palms which are running
Take a taste to be taken away I do believe
Centerfold, now to complete

Can someone be
More of a mother to me?
Discern out my thoughts
Correct all my verses
Show me I'm wanted every night
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry, for who I am

It's such a sad eclipse, fired sure as a bullet
Such a tatter, on a chest that will not happen
I take a chance, to be taken away a
And suddenly fall back into place
I'm so sorry (everyday now it's true)
I'm so sorry (everyday now it's true)
I'm so sorry (everyday now it's true)
I'm so sorry (everyday now)

I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry, for who I am

Emo. :(

Nelly Furtado - All Good Things

Honestly, what will become of me?
Don't like reality
It's way too clear to me
But really life is daily
We are what we don't see
Missed everything daydreaming

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?
Come to an end, come to an...
Why do all good things come to an end?
Come to an end, come to an...
Why do all good things come to an end?

Travelling I only stop at exits
Wondering if I'll stay
Young and restless
Living this way I stress less
I want to pull away when the dream dies
The pain sets in and I don't cry
I only feel gravity and I wonder why

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end?
Come to an end, come to an...
Why do all good things come to an end?
Come to an end, come to an...
Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Die die die die die
Well the dogs were whistling a new tune
barking at a new moon
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could...
Well the dogs were whistling a new tune
barking at a new moon
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could die
Die, die, die, die, die

Well the dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling in a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
And the sun was wondering if it should
Stay away for a day, 'till the feeling went away
And the sky was fallin', and the clouds were dropping
And the rain for-got how to bring sal-vation
Well the dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling in a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could die.

"Street Spirit (Fade Out)" by Radiohead

Rows of houses all bearing down on me
I can feel their blue hands touching me
All these things in all positions
All these things will one day take control
And fade out again
And fade out

This machine will
Will not communicate these thoughts
And the strain I am under
Be a world child form a circle before we all go under
And fade out again
And fade out again

Cracked eggs dead birds
Scream as they fight for life
I can feel death
Can see it's beady eyes
All these things into fruition
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
And fade out again
And fade out again

Immerse your soul in love.
Immerse your soul in love.

First time I listened to this it made me feel empty inside. Was so crazy. I didn't want to listen to it again but I couldn't stop, and it just kept ripping me up inside, lol. Would have preferred an instrumental version since there's just something about the melody that hooked my ear. One of the few songs that actually hit me the first time I listened to it.

Lupe Fiasco - The Instrumental

He just sits, and watches the people in the boxes
Everything he sees he absorbs and adopts it
He mimics and he mocks it
Really hates the box, but he can't remember how to stop it
Uh! So he contiunes to watch it
Open that and then give him something that he can box with
Or how to locksmith
See the box is, locked in a box, ain't got the combination to unlock it
Thats why he wa-tches, scared to look away
Cause at that moment, it might show him
What to take off the locks with
So he chained hisself to the box, took a lock, and then he locked it
Swallowed the combination and then forgot it
As the doctors jot it all down with they pens and pencils
The same ones that took away his voice
And just left his Instrumental like that

[Hook]
(And he never lies) He never lies, he never lies, uh
(And he never lies) He never lies, he never lies, no
(And he never lies) He never lies.......
(Cause he never said anything at all)

[Verse 2]
He just sits, and listens to the people in the boxes
Everything he hears, he absorbs and adopts it
Anything not coming out the box, he blocks it
See he loves the box and hope they never stop it
Anything the box tell him to do
He does it anything it tell him to get
He shops and he cops it
He protects the box, locks it inna box when he goes to sleep, but he never sleeps
Cause he stays up to watch it
Scared to look away
Cause at that moment, it might get stolen and thats the last of the boxes
So he chained hisself to the box, took a lock, and then he locked it
Swallowed the combination and forgot it
As the doctors jot it all down with they pens and pencils
The same ones that took his voice
And just left his Instrumental like that

[Hook]

[Bridge]x2
And you can't tell me just who you are?
You buy new clothes just to hide those scars
You built that roof just to hide those stars
Now you can't take it back to the start

James Taylor- Carolina In My Mind

In my mind Im goin to carolina
Cant you see the sunshine
Cant you just feel the moonshine
aint it like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes Im gone to carolina in my mind

Karen shes a silver sun
You best walk her way and watch it shinin
Watch her watch the mornin come
A silver tear appearing now Im cryin
Aint I gone to carolina in my mind

There aint no doubt in no ones mind
That loves the finest thing around
Whisper something soft and kind
And hey babe the sky's on fire, Im dyin
Aint I goin to carolina in my mind

In my mind Im goin to carolina
Cant you see the sunshine
Cant you just feel the moonshine
Maybe just like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes Im goin to carolina in my mind

Dark and silent late last night
I think I might have heard the highway calling
Geese in flight and dogs that bite
Signs that might be omens say I'm going, going
Im gone to carolina in my mind

With a holy host of others standing round me
Still Im on the dark side of the moon
And it seems like it goes on like this forever
You must forgive me
If Im up and gone to carolina in my mind

In my mind Im goin to carolina
Cant you see the sunshine
Cant you just feel the moonshine
aint it like a friend of mine
It hit me from behind
Yes Im goin to carolina in my mind
