Just watched the second trailer, much better than the first IMO. This looks like Prisoners in the sense that there is nothing particularly new here, the themes are tried and tested, but the execution looks first rate.

I'm not sure if I've said this before but the film looks like a Bruce Springsteen song turned into a movie.

^ Yeah, I agree. This is a much better trailer than the first one. The song worked really, really well with the clips and it just looked more contemporary if that makes sense.

Who is singing that song in the new trailer I wonder? Anyway this movie just continues to look like something that I will like.

My guess is - If it's not out there, then it was covered for the soundtrack.

I had a little search earlier but didn't find anything on it.

Yeah, I searched over youtube too and I couldn't find anything close to it. :(

Anyway... Zoe got Paul Dano-d again. Poor girl. :funny:

It was a tongue in cheek comment.

Another great trailer, really looking forward to this one

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed. :hehe:

Assassination of Jesse James.

The violence in Cooper’s “Furnace” takes place in a little-known world of backwoods brutality. The picture also brings the violence of the Iraq war into the psyche of one of the characters.

Cooper addressed the potential pitfalls of writing for specific actors. “For better or for worse, I tend to write — and this can be very dangerous — with actors in mind. I wrote “Crazy Heart” for Jeff Bridges having never met Jeff… and wasn’t going to make it if not with Jeff. And similarly I wrote (“Furnace”) with Christian Bale in mind and didn’t know Christian.”

He added, “I tend to be drawn to actors whose private lives you don’t know much about. Christian is a very private, man as is Jeff, so you’re more readily available to buy what you see on screen.”

Bale's gonna be a badass in this one, i can feel it.

I think it'll be the first time we see Bale play a "real life" badass type, versus a more fantasy type badass.

I don't think he's going to be a badass in this, more like an everyday man pushed to absolutely desperate extremes.

Another clip and new interview with Bale:

'Out of the Furnace' clip: Casey Affleck picks Christian Bale up from prison -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Christian Bale doesn’t normally like to watch himself on screen. But his new film for director Scott Cooper, Out of the Furnace (in theaters Dec. 6), has turned out to be an exception.

“It’s stunning. Scott is a hell of a director. It’s wonderful and I keep going in and watching it,” says Bale. “I keep calling Scott and going, can I please see it again?’” He laughs. “It sort of hypnotized all of us and the great thing for me is how much has come through in the end. As an actor you hope for the best, and sometimes you get experiences with the work when you’re really surprised it didn’t happen on film. There’s nothing you can do about that — that’s up to the director and editor to muster with what you’ve given them. But, this one — holy crap! It really came through.”

Out of the Furnace, which also co-stars Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Sam Shepard, and Zoe Saldana, centers on Bale’s character, Russell Baze, a quiet steelworker in Braddock, PA, who takes care of everyone around him — especially his younger, troubled brother (played by Casey Affleck). There’s a lot of painful twists of fate in this film that are best left unspoiled, but without ruining too much, you’ll note that in the exclusive scene below, Bale’s character is (happily) getting out of prison. And you’ll see exactly why this film is generating some Oscar buzz for this performance. (Full disclosure: this is one of my favorite movies of the year.)

Very nice to read, since i'm really looking forward to seeing him in this one, even more than in American Hustle
