Nah, I prefer the original ending. There's a nice message there about how crooks like Belfort never really disappear because there are so many people out there who are desperate to make easy money. Infomercials are lame, but there was something rather creepy about how he was still able to fill a room with corporate types even after doing prison time.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the ending as is. I just would have loved any ending that reminded me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail because, well, I love that movie.

In the same way Jordan Belfort was inspired by Wall Street, today's scum will completely miss the point and use this movie as an excuse to be as morally bankrupt and unethical as they could be.

Kind of like how those who love Scarface for all the wrong reasons and see Tony Montana as a hero and not the tragedy that he is. Money corrupts in both cases.

Just saw the film and it was as great as I'd hoped.... As for someone with Cerebral Palsy I do have one thing to say.

Man that scene was funny as hell. I couldn't stop laughing.

Was it funny because it's true? :oldrazz:

Just saw it (stupid Aussie release date).

This film. Holy ****. 20 years from now this will be an American classic, mark my words. So much to say about this film.

******* BENIHANA!

Oh man LOL!

This film was hilariously brutal. The cerebral palsy scene had me choking on my popcorn and the scene when they recall why Jordan had to be chest-strapped in his chair whilst on the plane...nuts...and Margot Robbie going full frontal....I'm genuinely surprised I didn't stand up and start clapping. This film was just gloriously wild.

Watched this again tonite. God what an amazing movie. Leo and Jonah are just so great together. I don't know if this has been talked about before but according to Wikipedia this movie drops the f-bomb more than any other film in history. That's quite a feat

Loved this film!

Don't understand how people can think this somehow glorifies Belfort considering the scenes toward the end of the film showing him beating the crap out his wife, kidnapping his daughter and crashing the car with her in it. It's a fun film, but also quite sad in showing how that life style completely corrupts. The change from a hard working and eager Wall Street rookie to the despicable Wolf is in a way pretty depressing to see, because you know it's happened to countless men and women.

I have to say, I wasn't as impressed as I was hoping. Then again, I'm not Scorcese's biggest fan and I'm pretty much burnt out on gangster/crime films. I didn't necessarily have any nitpicks with the film, I thought it was very well crafted; and for being three hours, I was never bored or wishing it would just end... But I felt like I had seen this movie before. The arc is practically the same one used in both Goodfellas and Casino. Just a different setting.

The biggest problem I had about the film is that I didn't care about any of the characters. I'm not saying that they have to be good people, but it needs to matter to me what happens to them, and I just wasn't as invested as I needed to be. Gags aside, there were no surprises in this movie.

Overall, I thought it was enjoyable, but nothing special or noteworthy. My favorite Scorcese films are still Raging Bull and The Departed.

I love it. Leo looks like he is having a fun ****ing time lately.

Yea I will agree with you about feeling like I'd seen this before. The basic narrative is almost identical to like a dozen movies. It's the whole FBI part of the story. How many times have we seen rich criminals scramble to dodge the authorities? Still though, the writing and performances are what makes this such an amazing movie

Ok yea like, I'm watching Lord Of War with Nicolas Cage right now. Basically the same damn story. There's just so many movies about a driven and ambitious young guy getting rich quick and becoming greedy and corrupt with the FBI or whatever government agency on their tail or investigating them. That's probably the only negative thing I can say about the movie. Literally everything else was as close to perfect as possible

Yeah the story is well worn. In this case in particular everything with Bellfort's first wife edge a little to far into Goodfellas country.

At the same time though, so many time when we have seen this similar arc, Goodfellas for instance, the people are basically small time crooks. There's a certain bit of legitimacy held by "the Wolf" even if he is a criminal, and more than most characters at the center of this kind of story, Belfort largely gets away with it.

Most stories are well worn really. This is the archetypal rise and fall. It's just so fricken hilarious and well made who cares if it's been done before?

Nobody is saying its not great. Just recognizing what it is. Believe me, I don't make it a habit of watching 3 hour long movies multiple times unless I absolutely love them

On another note, am I the only one hoping we will see more of Jonah in future Scorsese flicks? Or just with Leo again? They're so damn good together. Like, crazy good. I could see them teaming up more often definitely. Jonah really showed me here that he's capable of doing great things. I've been saying for years, even before he was in Cyrus, that he is incredibly talented and beyond just being an obnoxious smart ass like when he was in Accepted or Superbad. He's really come into his own as an actor and he just blows me away as Donnie here. I really hope he gets that Oscar.

i hope we see more of Jonah.

it looks like he has a new bestfriend

I can see them being the new De Niro and Pesci.
