Pacific Rim: The Anime

So I guess nothing else in this franchise will ever be as vibrant and striking as the original movie, huh?

The Jaeger/Kaiju action looks good. Not quite sure why there is the discrpency in the frame rates.

Okay, 5 minutes in and the soundtrack is already much, much more reminiscent of the original movie than Uprising. So that is going to be a big plus for it going forward.

Okay, finished the first batch of episodes. Loved it, but it is an anime ass anime. The janky framerates with the humans isn't too bad, and I didn't really notice it. And the Jaeger/Kaiju action was excellent. Went into some fun places with the lore of drift technology. Kind of changed some rules around, have to see the rest of the story to understand why, I guess. Pretty standalone, but it does start hitting you with references to the movies later on, which was fun. Yes, even Uprising, which arguably is the bigger impact. So, as a fan of Uprising, I had fun with that. I have to really respect the kaiju designs here. The Uprising kaiju were a little too similar, but here, very different, even if you can see traces of past kaiju in the designs. Not too many Jaegers, but I respect the Australian Jaegers being reminiscent of Striker Eureka.

Hoping for a 25 episode order.

As a Kaiju lover I found this anime very satisfying and I hope any future Godzilla shows we get on Netflix are on this level of quality. Plenty of monster battles/action thoroughout and I was suprised by how much I dugg pretty much all the designs of the Kaiju and it was cool that we got a good variety of them.

I feel like they finally did this franchise justice after Uprising which I wasn't a big fan of, but atleast they made some cool references to both movies. I didn't even mind the human characters including the animation, but Loa stole the show IMO and gave me one of the biggest laughs I got out of this show in the final episode.

I am definitely looking forward to a Season 2.

Man they went all in on this being an anime with some of the concepts but it strangely works lol

I do hope for a sequel season that will fill in the blanks in what happened after the Uprising War, even though I wish they would've retconned it.

Returns April 19. Looks to only be a 12 episode anime, however. Which is too bad.

I'll take what I can get at this point.

The plot certainly looks more intriguing than the first season’s which I thought took it’s time to get interesting. And the kaiju look cool too.

Finally finished it. At least they wrapped up the core story, I would have liked a bit more info on what exactly the PPDC were doing with that final evacuation stuff. Breacher was neat, and I just realized he was the first Cat 6.
