Parks and Recreation - Part 1

I watched the first two episodes of season four last night, and even in those, there's evidence of castmembers addressing the camera outside of their talking heads... Andy showing off Tom's Entertainment 720 t-shirt to the camera, Ann awkwardly looking to the camera after Chris tells her that she "knows her testes", etc.

Y'all can split hairs all you want, but it's documentary.

Since a lot of the people behind the show are the same as the Office, I just tell myself that they're both in the same universe. :o

But the guys behind both have outright said that they arent connected in anyway

Bill Clinton said he didn't have sexual relations with that woman. :o

People say things, but plans could always change. Just because that was true then doesn't mean it's true now. And there's no real reason for me not to pretend that they're in-universe.

But it doesn't matter either way, it's not like we're getting a crossover episode. Whether it's a documentary or not, the characters are obviously aware of the cameras. The fact that they are aware of them points pretty firmly to the documentary.

The closest thing to a crossover between the two shows would be if Creed Bratton played Creed Bratton on Parks and Recreation.

And on Homeland. And then on Always Sunny. And then in Avengers 2.

So how do you guys see the series finale shape up? Will it be a very emotional finale where there is a lot of closure? Or will it be a normal episode?

I think it will be a fast-forward episode, similar to The Office but more practical than sentimental. It will focus on Leslie's campaign for higher office, like the House of Representatives, maybe 5 years after the "end" of the penultimate episode.

Unlike the Office, hopefully it will show better life progression in the characters, who for the most part are more likeable. Like April basically has Ron's job, Ron is running an outward bound adventure tourism company with his son, Tom is successful at doing something *****ey, etc.

And hopefully, Andy does something awesome.....like actually becoming a police officer.

Remember, he passed his written exam with 100%. He has hidden genius.

Andy's aspiration of becoming a cop is actually my favorite plot line.

The major difference between The Office and P&R is that by and large the P&R characters are happier with their existence and/or are taking iniative to try new things all the time, compared to the The Office characters, who by and large have given up on certain aspects of their lives.

That will likely lead to a less sentimental series finale, as the characters are focussed on tomorrow, rather than drudging through one day at a time.

PS: I doubt Andy will become a cop, but he might well become mayor!

Andy would be an awesome mayor.

I wonder how they will explain this on the show:

I recently finished the entire show over the past few weeks and I gotta say, it's one of my favorite comedy shows ever, probably right behind Seinfeld. I prefer this over the entirety of The Office even.

Ron Swanson is a god among men.

Am I completely crazy for wanting to see a Joan Callamezzo spinoff? :o

Me gusta. Anna is probably doesn't mind his new body.

Looks like he's in better shape for Guardians than he was for Zero Dark Thirty.
