PC Tech's top 10 passwords people use

Hah... none of you will ever guess that my password is...

Wait, that would be dumb.

123456.........*runs off to change 5 passwords* :(

blink182?

Well, let's face it. Many systems ask for at least one letter and one number and a password that's 8 characters in length... some people remember band names easily.

1. password
2. 123456
3. qwerty
4. abc123
5. letmein
6. monkey
7. myspace 1
8. password 1
9. blink182
10. (your first name)

I can honestly say I've never used any of the above.

This reminds me of when the Hype wanted us to use our Mother's maiden name for a password. A number of us Hypesters pointed out what a major security gaff that would be, because if you have a persons real name (from their e-mail address) and their Mother's maiden name, you could possibly get access to their bank accounts.

DON'T USE YOUR MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET.

Monkey? The hell...?

You know... I'm not actually sure what my mother's maiden name is... grandma had re-married twice by the time I came along.

when i was in high school, the computers in the labs had the password password, so one day while we were in there for spanish class, taking practice tests, i changed the answers

well played

Ha, I used to use the word Qwerty as my password for some online gaming accounts :D I never thought it would be common though...

I used to se my first name, when I was 14 and couldn't remember anything else.

your first name is a brilliant password.

i'll give you guys a clue- none of them are my password;)

Funny enough monkeys was one of my first passwords back in like 1995.

'Swordfish' didn't make the top 10? I guess Halle's ta-tas are the only relevance that movie is to have.

<~~~ uses 14 -20 digit password at work that requires 2 uppercase, 2 lowercase, 2 non-consecutive numbers, 2 special characters, cannot form a word or name and cannot be similar to any previous passwords...and we have to change them every 90 days...or something like that. And I have 3 accounts at work that have those requirements. I'm sure I'm missing some stupid detail but basically that's the garbage I have to go through.

i HATE memorizing those damn things. I can't wait til we goto biometrics.

My password is Random. not "random" but I mean, you'd never guess it.

*changes his password*

heh. That was close!
