Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

I agree.

I’m not 100% onboard with him, but what he lacks in “Reedness”, he makes up for with enthusiasm.

im sure there were ppl not 100% onboard with any of the four main avengers before their feature films, so lets give whoever is Reed a chance (hopefully it is Krasinski).

here is the interview. I have a feeling it may be him now lol he just seems too cheeky

also:

@2:14 “Thats why I did Fantastic Four to balance it out” - John Krasinski

was this a Hollandian slip? Or is that too much of a stretch?

Talking of slip ups I like how she calls the character Richard Reeds. :D Shows how easy slip ups can be live lol.

I'm fine with them going with an Aztec background, but they should still call it Atlantis IMO. The real location of Atlantis is somewhat vague anyway, even though supposedly it's in the area of Africa or Europe. But some point to those underwater formations off Japan and say it's there, so the Americas don't seem any more outlandish.

I imagine the thematic logic is that a hidden Mesoamerican empire probably shouldn't have a Eurocentric name.

America is a Eurocentric name; originated from Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci

whatever the culture is, we all human.

lets not put too much stock into whether someone is Afro/Asiatic/Euro its all feeding into the media propaganda to cause division in our communities and in real life relationships

Old news but havent seen it posted here

this same person just recently claimed that Krasinski is “definitely” not coming back because they are still looking for a director.

I dont see the logic here, since directing and starring in the same movie is a lot of work. It makes more sense to me that if they are looking for a director that means the chances of Reed being Krasinski is higher - since he will have more energy and time devoted to focusing on playing the role. There is no contract saying That Krasinski will only accept the role if he is ALSO the director. What kind of bs logic is that

There’s…a lot to unpack there, but I don’t want to derail this thread.

I get that, but then why would some people call the ruins off Japan Atlantis? Anyway, if I was Marvel and worried about Aquaman (which I wouldn't be), I would tell DC to change the name of their Atlantis lol.

Well there’s what people call it and what the actual natives call it. Like how the Māori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa.

Yeah, as long as they say "This is the city that inspired the legend of Atlantis" it should be okay. I just question the need for the change. It's odd to see the trailer suggesting that Namor worships Quetzalcoatl. This is a comic book character that dates back to the early 40s, and it's strange to see this new twist introduced just for the movies.

The other strange thing is that most more accepted locations for the location of Atlantis actually would have placed it closer to Wakanda, which would have made more sense if they have a traditional conflict.

I don’t think it’s that big a deal. I’m just excited to see namor and Tenoch is going to ace it

At this point, I would be surprised if the decision wasn't made. Movie opens in just over 2 years, so filming will be next year and who knows if the characters are making appearances in other projects.

At this point I'd put Vegas money on Krasinski playing 616 Reed.

I won't be surprised if he ends up on stage at D23 to introduce his fellow FF team members/cast mates.

I think he looks pretty impressive. I always had doubts about the green swim trunks costume, but it looks like they've pulled it off. All the gold is a nice touch.

yeah. I wouldn’t mind pulling off his green trunks

His facial expressions, his mannerisms, his silence, his "slip". It's all very telling to me.
I agree that Krasinski will be Reed, but the slip doesn't mean much to me. He used it in the past tense and FF clearly has yet to be made or even started.

I base it more on him playing Reed in MoM. I don't see Marvel using a popular fancast in the movie and then going to someone else. I think it would stir up a lot of negative press they don't need. For that matter, I think Blunt will be Sue.

how shortsighted would Feige seem if he were not to get Krasinksi to sign a long term contract? Like hey John would you like to do a one and done appearance and never again be part of the MCU? Sounds like a crap deal if i was John

Reed isnt Howard the Duck. This is one of the most important heroes in the MCU. A frakking mainstay. An A lister up there with Stark, Cap, and Cyclops.

but then again they did off him unceremoniously….

Unceremoniously is putting it mildly. They offed him so unceremoniously it became a meme.
The reason I think Krasinski is playing Mr. Fantastic is that Marvel hasn't really done too much to quash the rumor. At this point, if Krasinski isn't Reed, it's going to make some people angry. If they're really looking to set a high standard with this movie, they're not going to want to start off with people reacting negatively.

right. I can see the headlines now.

EXCLUSIVE: John Krasinski Not Mister Fantastic After All

Marvel Studios has decided not to extend Krasinski’s time in the MCU. After the mostly positive reception and meme generating buzz surrounding Reed Richard’s surprise appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel Multiverse of Madness, Marvel has decided to cast lesser known actor John Doe in the role instead. More as it develops.

Fans: Well that was anticlimactic!!!!

Feige: sorry guys, hope you look forward to your new Mr. Fantastic. Sorry to John for aborting your character. For what it’s worth that was just a one shot deal for ****s and giggles

Take this as you will

No, [Patrick Stewart] was actually not there! [Laughs] He was shooting Picard. That was a very interesting shoot because my role came up in the reshoots. As you can imagine, several of the actors were quite busy. Patrick was not there. Chiwetel [Ejiofor] was not there. Krasinski’s contract wasn’t even done. He wasn’t there. We had actors playing those roles, knowing that they were going to either be substituting their shots or transplanting faces. I’ve never done anything quite like that, and I was in disbelief of how well it cut together." - Anson Mount interview with Esquire

Well, even if it was a simple cameo, one and done, there would be a contract, so that phrase may not be telling.

BUT with that said, they wanted him, and he probably jumped at the opportunity (it would be fun and also give him an opportunity to audition for the broader role).

So it would seem to be a relatively simple matter of a boiler-plate contract with some small compensation. A couple phone-calls and done.

So if he really wasn’t able to be there because they were working in a contract, it could hint something bigger was being discussed.

Ha, he was probably saying that if they wanted him in their little MoM movie, they'd better be giving him the role for the main event, the FF film.

I'm okay with Blunt as Sue, but honestly I'd probably rather see someone else. She's not a fan like her husband. Although Blunt with Krasinski would probably bring in more publicity, plus she's already associated with Disney.

And with Stark and the original Cap gone, Reed will be a leader of the MCU even outside of being its primary scientific genius and leader of the F4. His profile will be heightened further with the wider MCU threat of Doom and his strong personal connection to him. I’d find it strange if Krasinski was up for the cameo and not the full role, knowing how significant it could be. This is an absolutely huge role and there aren’t going to be too many roles of this size going forward, the likes of Cyclops and Storm maybe.

There were wild comments after this.
From Campea’s video, they said if John didnt get the part, he wouldnt be so coy and playful. If he did it’s no wonder he is so humorous about it. Think about it. He could have corrected himself and said: thats why i did fantastic four. Sorry i mean doctor strange. Perhaps he didnt want to get in trouble with Marvel.

the other comment suggested what if Krasinski is Doom in 616? I thought that is crazy. I dont think he is right for the role but i like the logic though
agreed he wouldn't be right for Doom, but, intrigued by the idea of him like the anti-Reed of 616 ... I'd think someone like the Wizard or even Mad Thinker, would be more fitting (them even putting to together their own teams, made up of other rejected fans cast, could be funny)
