Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

Based on what I've heard of his turn in The Grey Man, I sure hope not.

I wouldn't judge too harshly anyone's performance in that movie. I think Page is in maybe a total of 6 minutes...it wasn't really a scene-stealer type of a role.

the irony is Krasinski had a total of 2 minutes and is being judged harshly by those who dont like him for the role lol

lol okay true, that's fair.

I think people are so desperate for info, we kind of are focusing on trivial things. Costumes being CG or who says something on a commentary or writers and such being cagey I think don't give us any indicators on what Marvel is doing. So far, that article Willie posted a while back about why Watts left was the most concrete info on the project we have gotten. I think people just gotta be chill until D23. I was hoping SDCC would be the day, but most people circled D23. So, I think Krasinski is still Reed. But it is possible he isn't. But what I do know is nothing out there is the SILVER BULLET that tells us anything

If Reed is played by a black actor, would he be the biggest Marvel name to be race swapped? Pre-MCU, I would have certainly argued that he was a bigger name than Tony Stark,

is that a hint silver surfer is coming? ;)

Coogler is giving Namor's underwater kingdom a new name - probably to distinguish it from Curry's digs - and slapping on some Aztec imagery and architecture. But I'm sure it will be close enough to comic book Atlantis and the original name will be brought up at least once during BP2.

And I'd bet that, in the end, it will still be called "Atlantis" half the time anyway, assuming its proper name isn't *literally* 'Aztlantis' or something close to that.. Probably with some explicit in-story reference to "Yes, we were the civilization that inspired the Atlantis myth". Its basically going to be the MCU version of Atlantis, just with slightly different aesthetics.

( Also, in retrospect, yeah, its almost certainly due to DC getting out an Aquaman movie first. )

Kang is the long lost descendant of Reed Richards, right? I wonder if Reed will be similarly cast.

I believe that was eventually revealed to be false in the comics. Or at least, he's no more descended from Reed than anyone else from a thousand years prior. Which, btw, means that any ethnic connection is coincidental at best, a thousand years is a *lot* of time.

i don’t get this. I mean just because Thanos and Darkseid are so similar doesnt mean we go abandon Thanos as a Titan and then culturally appropriate something the character never was. It’s laughable to me. But whatever, i think it works aesthetically except for the headdress…since i dont really care for Namor anyway

Krasinski was on Fallon and they asked him about Reed and Blunt maybe playing Sue, and his response was miming being killed by a blow dart. I don't think it confirms he IS Reed or anything, but he didn't say it was a one off or anything

My gut feeling since seeing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is that John Krasinski will probably play Reed Richards moving forward. It just seems like a logical choice, however, Kevin Feige and company will do what they think is right for Fantastic Four. This can also work into Krasinski's schedule when it comes to filming. Krasinski is in pre-production with his upcoming family comedy If and he'll likely start filming that movie later this year. I doubt this is the kind of production that takes up to 6 months to film so post-production likely kicks off late this year or early next year. Assuming Krasinski is indeed Reed Richards and filming isn't going to start on this MCU movie until around mid-2023, he'll have the time to play the character. Also, if that is the case, I think it's likely he will not direct it but merely star in it. In addition, If releases May 2024 whereas Fantastic Four releases November 2024. The marketing push for Fantastic Four probably wouldn't begin until summer 2024 so Krasinski can be available for promotions.

Maybe I'm wrong! This just seems like this could work in the guy's schedule. I'm sure D23 will reveal the full cast. I do doubt Emily Blunt will be playing Sue Storm though.

I'm of the mind he will be Reed. once they opened that door they cant unclose it. Everyone wants him to be Reed after that appearance.

Does Reed being descended from Kang really matter?

Unless it's something that connects to the plot I don't think it is even worth mentioning.

ppl forget that since the lockdowns even actors are having trouble finding work. The production budgets for many things have shrunk as well. Marvel giving the Krasinskis work is more of an opportunity that cannot be passed up on. Also Emily Blunt in the MCU is something that has been a long time coming. They have been eyeing for her since Iron Man 2, do we really think they will pass up on the opportunity to cast her as Sue or even Jean Grey?

Plus, I can see John Krasinski wanting to be part of the MCU for the next 5+ years. And if anyone thinks he is too old to start playing Reed Richards, they must of thought a mid-40's Paul Rudd was too old to start playing Scott Lang, or a mid-40's Robert Downey Jr was too old to start playing Tony Stark. If John Krasinski does indeed become our new Reed Richards moving forward, we should feel lucky that we have a fantastic actor who will give this role everything he has got.

About Emily Blunt, it's just my gut feeling that another actress will be cast as Sue Storm. I would be thrilled if Blunt became Sue but I'm expecting a different actress to take the role. We will see soon enough though.

I'm fine with them going with an Aztec background, but they should still call it Atlantis IMO. The real location of Atlantis is somewhat vague anyway, even though supposedly it's in the area of Africa or Europe. But some point to those underwater formations off Japan and say it's there, so the Americas don't seem any more outlandish.

Let me take this opportunity to say though, that Wakanda Forever looks awesome, and I think they have a great look for Namor. Honestly, I half expected them to remove the wings from his feet, but they didn't, so kudos for that. If there's one problem with the trailer, I didn't see any massive Atlantean fleet or army. Maybe they're still working on the CGI for that.

I always associate Namor with the FF, because he made his return to comics in FF#4.

here is the interview. I have a feeling it may be him now lol he just seems too cheeky

also:

@2:14 “Thats why I did Fantastic Four to balance it out” - John Krasinski

was this a Hollandian slip? Or is that too much of a stretch?

I think he did mean to say that, but... was it a slip? Lol

There were wild comments after this.
From Campea’s video, they said if John didnt get the part, he wouldnt be so coy and playful. If he did it’s no wonder he is so humorous about it. Think about it. He could have corrected himself and said: thats why i did fantastic four. Sorry i mean doctor strange. Perhaps he didnt want to get in trouble with Marvel.

the other comment suggested what if Krasinski is Doom in 616? I thought that is crazy. I dont think he is right for the role but i like the logic though

What about option 3, they haven’t made a decision yet and he’s in the running?

I think that’s likely and he’d probably still be having fun in that case.

At this point, I would be surprised if the decision wasn't made. Movie opens in just over 2 years, so filming will be next year and who knows if the characters are making appearances in other projects.

I do think that's a possibility, but I feel more confident about him playing Richards after seeing that interview. If nothing else, he seems open to the idea of playing Richards, and IMO Disney/Marvel would be absolutely nuts not to go with him if he's willing or eager to do it. It gives the film automatic excitement.

I agree.

I’m not 100% onboard with him, but what he lacks in “Reedness”, he makes up for with enthusiasm.
