I searched for a thread but didn't find it

Anyone else interested?

The obvious comparison point is The Prisoner, but it looks intruiging enough for me to check it out.

Anyone watching? Very cool so far. The mystery has definitely intrigued me. Far more than Happy Town did. Looks like we've found this year's Harper's Island. Plus it has Alan Ruck. Nice to see him getting some work.

The pilot was okay. Needed a bit more urgency and unexpected angles.

The Nightmanager was the most intriguing.

Very cool first episode. The Night Manager is creepy as hell. "I'm used to it by now." That delivery was amazing.

So, clearly at least one of the main cast members are in on the kidnapping.

We saw Janet get kidnapped so that rules her out. Though her mother may be in it.

The guy in the sheriff's office with the shotgun is too obvious.

I'm not sure if they're setting Joe up to be a red herring or if he may geniunely be in on it.

Moira, I think is a red herring. Clearly there is more to her than meets the eye. But I think she's a mental patient. Not a kidnapper.

Military guy is pretty much there to fill the archetype of a military tough guy. Same with blondie being the dumb young girl. Of course, that could just be so no one suspects them. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't suspect that, but with McQuarrie behind this, I'm expecting some serious twists.

But my lead suspect is Charlie (Alan Ruck). He is not the one you would suspect immedietly, but you'll get to him if you think on it. But he's also not the one you'd least suspect (Janet). He's the one you'd medium suspect, so by Dwight Schrute logic that makes it him.

What does everyone else think?

I still need a couple eps to see how this "town" operates. A dinner every night? A clothing store obviously.

My first instinct is that none of them are in on the abductions, but that one of them has a pretty good idea why they are there.

It can't be about murder since they had to be sleep to get the drug into their bodies.

My wild guess is that the person They are after is the guy from the sheriff's office.

Haven't figured how the reporter is going to organically fit into this.

This looks like a good mini-series. They should be doing this more often. Flashforward probably would have been a better thing if it was a mini-series too.

Hmm, I feel like it would be anticlimactic if none of them are in on it. But clearly it goes beyond the sheriff's office guy. Why would they have eyes on Janet's mother if it is just the one guy they are after?

I think the reporter is there to show us how deep this all runs. If whoever the abductors are can get to him and silence him.

What do you think Joe's job is? A spy or mercenary perhaps?

Hitman was my first thought. He did let out he was in NY before being abducted then shutdown.

Anticlimatic? I guess I'm hoping for some not by the book twist. I expected two of them to actually know each other.(The woman in the robes didn't seem as shocked everyone else).

Someone reminded me, I thought I had simply missed it, but we didn't see the woman in the bathrobes check her leg.

Yeah, Moira never got her leg checked. Also she was pretty emphatic that Janet not leave with Joe, as if she knew something would happen.

The show is OK. I will watch the next couple episodes to get a better feel for it.

I think a lot of the pilot is set up. With the ground work laid, I am confident it shall only improve.

Hitman, I like it!

The thing is, if someone in the group is not connected, then the reveal of who the kidnapper is, is less powerful. Even if someone is unwittingly connected, I still want someone involved. A wolf amongst the sheep, if you will. Perhaps Joe had a hand in kidnapping the others before being snatched himself? If he is a hitman/assassin/mercenary type, he may very well have been hired to track the people down and aide in taking them only to be double crossed by whoever is behind it?

A decent first episode. I found the soldier guy really annoying because of the way he acted. It wasn't very soldier.

I like the mystery that it has setup, it has a Dark City type of vibe but not so trippy.

Did anybody else notice Janet's fortune cookie message? In the pilot the words were all on one line. In the preview the same words were on two lines. I hope they don't have more sloppiness like that with their story.

I'm wondering if everybody has a role to play in this place in order to escape. For example, the Night Manager needs to be the night manager to escape the town. The Chinese people need to make the best or provide food for these strangers in order to escape, and Janet needs to kill Joe to get out.

I enjoyed the first episode, I thought it did a great job setting up the atmosphere and intrigue, it reminded me a bit of Identity.

At this point it's impossible to guess what they are being held for or if any of them are plants, someone made a good call on Moira being a mental patient and I think Joe will be legit, he's the shows badass with a dark past, perfect fit with the single mom Janet, I reckon he's a merc perhaps working for a PMC, in fact given the high tech camera's that are watching them I could see this being tied into a PMC.

Is it certain that show will stay in the ghost town for the entire 13 episodes?

Someone made a good call on Moira being a mental patient?! Is that all I am to you!?! :argh: ;)

I'm thinking I may be onto something with Joe. If I were to guess, I'd say he had a role in bringing them to the ghost town. Perhaps a mercenary or hitman who was hired to be in on the abduction (scouted or located the victims or something) and then was double crossed and abducted himself after everyone else?

:lmao: I thought it was the other guy you were discussing it with. :O

I could definitely see Joe's arc being that he is in on it initially as a debt he owes and then turns on them to help Janet get her daughter back, especially since her Mother may be in on it, but I wonder if her acting strange when the reporter interviewed her was b/c she knew the camera was there.

Yeah, the mother's behavior was odd. I think she was definitely aware of the camera. The question is, are the people behind the abduction intimidating her into cooperation, or is she one of the conspirators?

Well the scene plays more like being intimidated but then Janet seemed to fear her daughter being left with her Mom was worse than being kidnapped, so it's hard to tell.

That's what I love about the show. While all the characters are pretty much just cliche archetypes, there is a mystery behind each and every one that invests me in them and I look forward to seeing how its developed.

A bit underwhelmed by the second episode.

I did like that they were actively trying to get out and doing so as a group. Eventually, they will probably break off into groups and betray each other.

The nightwatchmen continues to be the most interesting unfortunately. I did like Moira and party girl becoming Bffs.

The second episode was a bit choppy and the Paris Hilton chick is a poor actress, I'm still intrigued but I am struggling to see how this can be stretched out for 11 weeks given how confined the setting is.

The light was a WTF moment for me. They did not even acknowledge their attempt to escape. Did it erase their memory or something?

My first thought was "aliens." But I think they had driven in a circle and arrived back at the other end of the town.

But they didn't even acknowledge their escape attempt. Or the fact that the night manager (who can clearly deactivate the fence) was back. Was it just poor editting deleting some explanitory scenes?

I actually liked that. They were defeated for the what, third time? Even the guy they thought had escaped was still there. They just filed past back to their beds.
