Persons Unknown

Some co-workers were talkin 'bout this show so I watched the first 5 episodes. Really interesting. The only thing I don't like is the geography of the town. There's no way to travel away in 1 direction and end up in the same spot (unless you circle the globe). I could see them maybe traveling in a circle when they were in the van but when Joe & Janet were walking how'd they end up back in the city?

Also I can't stand the Marine. He doesn't act like a Marine at all. The writers could have done a little research on Military uniforms and procedures. CBS seems to do pretty well w/ NCIS in that department.

Pretty lame episode tonight. I'm starting to lose interest in the show already.

The show is getting more interesting IMO. I thought they would drag out the storyline of Joe's secret so I'm glad everyone knows now. I don't like Erica. She scares me. Like "piss in my pants" scares me...:csad:

Lol. Prison Mike afraid of Prison Erica.:hehe:

anyone still watching this?

I like it. For me its kind of the opposite of Lost. With Lost, in the end, I found that cared more about the characters than the mystery. With Persons Unknown I care more about the mystery because the characters arent that interesting besides Joe and Blackham. Not that theyre bad, but theyre just boring. Except the 2 news reporters, I fast forward through all their bits, they're really annoying

Joe was a bad ass monster in this most recent ep. :wow:

I know what the Program is. It's a test of how twisted you can make a story before viewers wonder if there was a plan in the first place.

Those reporters are crazy annoying. I knew it was a weird strand of story even in the premiere.

I wonder how long Bright Eyes can reject Prison Erica before she tossses her? The new nightmanager looks like he might be good.

I hate to be one of the those people who continue to watch a show even when it's terrible but for some reason I want to know what happens.

Well I finally caught up on the 4 eps I'd missed after losing interest, firstly I agree with everyone on the reporters, not only are they annoying but they are very poorly written with their emotions flip flopping all the time.

I felt Erika really kick started things when she arrived, adding a bit of fire and helping the story progress, then episode 8 happened with Joe doing the THX thing and some old bird being revealed as the head honcho, at which point I just went.

The camera gimmick has also been overplayed to the point of being laughable.

I have no idea how they can end this satisfactorily, I mean they have taken the element of the human fight back out of the equation by making this organization ridiculously powerful.

Erica is so annoying. She acts like her prison wife is Janet. I wanted Joe to lay some of those Hulk moves on Erica.

Yeah, I don't care for Erica either. At this point I am just watching to see how it ends. The whole massive conspiracy story has put me off. It was such a good premise too. :(

My stance exactly except that I don't care for any characters. At least the reporters make it to the "town" relatively fast, it should end quickly.

I like Joe. I don't mind Janet (though I don't get where everyone is suddenly getting that she's the strongest person the program has ever had from, it seems like all her development is through things that we're told about her, not through her actions). I'm interested to see what they're going to do with Ruck's character. And I still think there is more to Blackham than meets the eye. I wish Moira, the marine, and Erica would go away.

The way she calls Janet "Bright Eyes" creeps me out. :csad:

I think Joe is a pretty good character followed by Janet and then Erika, with Charlie being the only other interesting one. Erika has basically been the catalyst to getting things moving.

I dunno, I think Blackham's stockholm syndrome is interesting. Problem is, they don't really explore him.

Blackham is a bit like Moira in that they have hinted there is more to know but not revealed anything.

And there in lies the show's biggest problem. I feel like it would've worked far better as a 5 to 8 part mini-series than a 12 episode one. It has filler episodes for goodness sakes. A mini-series should not have filler episodes. A shorter number of episodes would've made the pace move much quicker and helped the show a lot, IMO.

Better writing would have really helped as well lol but I agree, and it's 12 eps? I thought 10 was the last one.

According to Wikipedia its actually 13 with the finale taking place on September 4th. That's too many for the premise. But that goes back to poor writing like you said. The poor writing suprises me considering Christopher McQuarrie is the mastermind behind it all. I suppose it could improve though, before all is finished. If it finishes strong, the bad stretch in the middle can be forgiven, I think.

I think they are airing the two hour finale next week! This national nightmare is over.

Episode 11 is online at Hulu.

What the hell? That fake out with the town was too obvious. The night manager, both actually, are the best characters in the whole show.

I'm glad Moira and Graham finally got it on. So much pent up tension.lol Didn't expect that admission from Moira.

I think labeling a show "the next Lost" is the mark of death.

Is it me or is it very bizarre that episode 11 is only airing online?

At this point I'm just along for the ride. I've already invested hours into this thing, I'm not getting off now.
