Pet Sematary Remake in the works

You've got to be kidding, they actually released this as a clip? The only thing I ever saw from this film was the first trailer and seeing it last night this and the ending where the best twists on the story, this was very surprising when it happened as they totally took my expectations and flipped them upside down, thank god I didn't see this before seeing the movie.

All in all though the movie was ok. This twist and the ending were probably the best things about it.
no kidding. They post this way before the movie. They even highlight this on their poster and Final Trailer.

I'v read the book so it's just a little bit surprising because they changed this detail a little bit.

Saw it last night, better than most mainstream horror films but I'm a tad disappointed. Early reactions indicated to something truly special.

7.5/10

If they didn't release that goddamn spoiler trailer it would have a bigger impact.

I’ve heard the opposite that knowing it’s there, it doesn’t throw you in a negative way if you’ve read the book and seen the 1989 film expecting it’s Gage.

I enjoyed this movie. 7.5 for me. Deeply disturbing and I enjoyed their reflection on the afterlife. That ending was great, very eerie. I had a better time watching Pet Sematary than I did watching Us.

For a movie with a similar running time as the original, it felt like they took everything not used in the book by the previous film and then didn’t use anything that was. The twist wasn’t effective because
I found a talking, older kid just wasn’t creepy. She was a fine actress but she was too obvious she was evil. Besides Gage being a small child, he wasn’t as off putting and strange acting and even tricked Rachel into immediately accepting him because of her grief. Ellie was immediately giving off red flags in this version.

Also we have seen this kind of villain in so many other horror movies

So saw this for a second time, and guess who’s sitting two rows ahead of me? Christopher Nolan and his kids. So wanted to go up to him after the film, but thought that would be a bit disrespectful, being with his kids and all. They all seemed to have really enjoyed it, they were having a pretty loud discussion comparing this with the original.

Just got back from this. I haven't read the book but I have seen the '89 film. The first two thirds are decent, but once the last act began, the film kind of snowballed into mediocrity. It's by the numbers, okayish horror that you've seen a million times before. Doesn't help that the film was insanely rushed.

A shame because visually the film is really nice. Props to Laurie Rose, I really liked his cinematography, there were some really striking visuals. The performances were good for the most part. Jason Clarke is always a mixed bag for me, but he had some really good moments. Amy Seimetz was fantastic, I loved her. Unfortunately, I left just feeling whatever about it overall.

I thought the change to Ellie dying was really poor. Was just too modern and cliche. I've seen the evil young girl done so many times. Also the fact that she just goes crazy, kills everyone, and buries Rachel and Louis, was far less interesting than Louis simply going mad and resurrecting everyone he can because he doesn't want to accept their deaths. Just more cliche bs that really hurts this film.

I will say though, the final moments were well shot. The second to last shot, from inside the car with Gage looking out at the family, was really cool looking. Especially when Church came into frame. I thought that was a cool image to look at. The final few moments were pretty eerie, but predictable.

I really think I went into this film expecting something more in the style of the most recent adaptation of "It" and it just wasn't that. I think the film overall had a very creepy atmosphere and the muted colors of it really added to the sense of dread, but as a whole it really fell short of my expectations. I thought the film had a lot of strong scenes and the acting was great, especially the younger actress playing Ellie. I didn't remotely find this film scary though and although there was that creepy vibe, it never made me jump once. I really wanted to know more about what was going on with the cemetery and why things were brought back, but there was not a real reason given. I think if we knew for certain this was getting a sequel, the ending would have made more sense, but as it's most likely not getting one, the ending was just so abrupt.
I'm not quiet sure what they were thinking releasing this film against Shazam and at a time of the year when horror films typically don't do as well. I think if this would have been released closer to Halloween it would do better, but honestly I don't think it's going to do well at the box office. The showing for Shazam on Thursday was packed and the showing for Pet Semetary on Saturday had maybe ten people in attendance, everyone else at the theater was next door at the Shazam screening.
Anyways, more thoughts in the video, but for anyone wondering, I'd say wait for video on this one. I don't think the theater experience is really justified.

This movie felt extremely rushed and unable to flesh out important elements, one of which was Jason Clark's descent into a grieving father. It doesn't even touch the original, especially emotional moments like when the father had to put his son down with the injection. Very disappointed.

Was in to see this last night not the biggest fan of horrors but thought id give it a shot anyway.

Personally felt it spent too long setting up the story, so once Ellie died it seemed kind of rushed that Clarke went straight back to dig her up and bury her in the pet cemetery. Could have done with 5-10 minutes of his grief and descent in to madness. Lithgow was probably my favorite part of the movie thought he played his part really well. The story with the mom and the sister seemed to be there just to give the mom something to do (maybe I would have got it more if I had read the book) but the actress who was playing the mother didn't seem great imo. Think the main issue I had with it is I don't really find kids in horror movies scary (unless there is a lot of them)

Overall 6/10

Pet Sematary is becoming the new Children of the Corn...
