Pet Sharks?

Aquarium stores that sell bull sharks? I've gotta see that to believe it.

I had one...it was a small one, but it actually got so big that it started to eat the other fish in the tank and we had to get rid of it...

Yeah, I don't think I'd have any other fish with it, just for that reason.

A friend of mine had a Pet shark, & a Gold Fish. The next day the Shark vanished, but the Gold Fish was still there.

From that point on everything he put in the tank with the Gold Fish. It would vanish within days.

It eventually got so big, that it got stuck in its cash, & broke its back trying to get out.

But that fish was gangsta.

I've been contemplating getting a shark too. I see a lot of fresh water 'sharks' that are available in pet stores, but I'm not sure...I'd like a cool looking shark...but so far, I haven't been able to locate any, plus the upkeep of one can be fairly needy.

With all that said..I'm considering getting a...Koi...which will prolly outlive me, as they can live over a 100 years :o

I was thinking about a pond in the backyard for koi but then I thought about all the work involved just to build it. I might change my mind again.

No joke. Don't mix goldfish with other kinds. They will annihilate them. I had a plecostomus for several years back in high school, biggest fishy I ever owned, then one day my parents decided to throw some goldfish into the tank with it and the others (sword-tails at the time, I believe), and that poor side-feeder was dead within a day.

but the work is the satisfaction. the planning and buying of materials, the digging and entrenching... god damn i might build a pond for ****s....

Yeah, most people don't realize what they're getting into with pet sharks. These are creatures that will be at least 3-4ft and possibly larger, depending on type. To adequately house one you'll need an aquarium or pond that's a few thousand gallons. Not to mention it's not that cheap to feed them.

Lol I had a gold fish just like that as well, first it would suck out the eyes of all the other gold fish, then it would eat off all there fins, I guess calling it brutis didn't help

My aunt has a pet shark i saw it the one and only time i ever visted her though so i'm not even sure if its alive still lol.

In all seriousness, I've always wanted one or two of those cute little pet sharks.

I don't have room to keep Bruce the shark, anyway. :oldrazz:

Uh...no. There are smaller sharks out there. ...though it's unlikely that those types would be sold in pet stores.

I've worked in aquariums for years. The sharks that are most commonly available grow to 3-4ft. Those are the types most likely to become pets, and people highly misjudge the proper means of caring for them.
