Agreed. i have no idea what the Hell they were thinking on that one.![]()
Sorry, that's total BS. The clone saga sucked, and telling fans that the character they've been following for the last 20 years is a fake is a kick in the nuts to the long tie readership that kept Spidey alive in print. And caring about continuity? Sorry, Gobby died, that's respecting classic continuity.
If anything, I'd say the cried wolf thing was more recent. When JMS started, (and was great,) an when Paul Jenkins was at his peak, and JQ was watching the internet, all of the Spider fans *****ed about anything possible after JMS was on for a while, as well as Jenkins being on for longer.
IMO, THAT'S what lead to them trying anything possible. No one had an idea what to do, as at the time fan opinion made no sense. This lead to them all getting fed up, and just doing what the (internet,) fans hated. It worked on USM...
I just have to say that I absolutely love watching you guys freak out and overreact. Entertainment at its finest.
You are Joe Q's pet parrot, aren't you?
No. By no means would I condone a "magical mindwipe" of the marriage. That's about as lame as plot devices can get.
But, I think the reaction among fans, particularly here, has been utterly ridiculous. Gwen and Harry coming back to life? Continuity being rewound all the way back to Amazing Fantasy #15? These are completely baseless predictions (to put it nicely), and people actually take them seriously! People are already crying for Quesada's blood over reviving Gwen; making childish comments like "Jokesada", "Joe Q is on drugs", and "my childhood is being raped."
It's complete and utter irrationality, and I can't help but laugh at it.
I personally think Joe Q is on crack for saying a single Spider-Man can do things like watch porn.People are already crying for Quesada's blood over reviving Gwen; making childish comments like "Jokesada", "Joe Q is on drugs", and "my childhood is being raped."

Agreed, I thought that was bad story telling and a really bad way to bring Gwen back. Why would anybody have Gwen have sex with Norman? It really is stupid.
SINS F***ING PAST!Whoa, is that from a what if comic? I don't remember that happening in 616.
SINS F***ING PAST!![]()
That's how you should think. But as for me I'm planning on brainwashing. What? Sins Past? Never heard of it. And since I didn't, it never happened. NEVER HAPPENED.
The people that were there in the panal would say otherwise. He didnt say it in a joking manner. It was a joke.
Can anyone point out what this new source is that is leading people to believe JQ and co are gonna completely trash Spidey by resurrecting Gwen? That cover to the comic buyers guide just don't do it for me. It's more likely that's the Goblin twin, or a clone. It's a tease it's gotta be. I would not put anything past him, but JQ has got to understand the significance of the all time classic ASM#121.

The Clone Saga didn't suck. It was completely based on ASM 150 were Peter throws away the DNA Results. The door was left open from that day on. Continuity was treated respectfully and faithfully during the Clone Saga.
Ben could have been Spider-Man. It could have been reversed way way way later.
Or another book could have been created for west coast Peter Spider-Man. Clones are a very real future issue/predicament, and it was pretty cool that Spider-Man comics were dealing with it in the 70's and again in the 90's.
I prefer a Ben Spider-man with Peter on the West coast fighting crime, with a mystery still of which one is real, then......... Gwen bangng Norman, Peter being a Mystical Warrior, Peter Metamorphising and growing Stingers easting peoples heads, and Peter sharing his ID with the world because all of a sudden he is a big Avengers puss, even though he was never written that way.
Give me a break. (I was one of the people *****ing about Ben Reilly in the 90's, I wish I didn't in retrospect.)
The door was left open and was entered by Gerry Conway, who did a nice job of tying up loose ends and finally wrapping up (what we thought) a satisfying ending to the original clone stories in the early 90s in Spectacular Spider-man.
Then the door was kicked down by Bob Harras and the gang years later, then they ripped down the door frame and blew up the surrounding wall when they ruined a classic story and brought Norman back, which is a disrespect to history.
The Clone story had potential, but the result was less then satisfying.
