There have been rumors floating round the net that Optimus Prime will speak in a more human way...as in saying stuff like 'my bad' etc.

Well the rumors are true.

When reading the lastest issue of Empire magazine (Issue 215 with Spider-man being consumed by the Symbiote on the front cover), I came across the Transformers section which contained an interview with Peter Cullen about his role as Optimus Prime.

The part im talking about went like this:

Empire: Has Optimus Prime changed from the TV series to Now?

Cullen: The voice will be the same. There's maybe a little more human to him. What I find interesting is that he's now a little more colloquial, a little more trying to be hip...But he still holds the same ingredients.

...

Well there you have it. I don't know what you guys make of it, but im not so sure...it depends how well they pull it off etc.

Nothing much else to say other than Cullen saying that he was so overwhelmed by what they've done with the film he missed his queues whilst recording, that there's no sign of Prime dieing as he has been signed up for a three-picture deal and that he thinks they'll probably make a Transformers movie every other yeah, and is assuming they'll start the sequel next year.

What do you think?

*groan* DON'T SCREW UP, CULLEN!!!!!!!!!!:wow: HE'LL BE FINE, THOUGH! HE'D BETTER NOT DIE!!!! HE'S THE FREANING MAIN HERO, DARNIT (ASIDE FROM THE GUY FROM HOLES)!!!!!!!!!!:woot::heart::trans::trans::heart::trans:

Well if AI based robots had that much technology and could TRANSFORM in order to fit in on another world, I'd like to think they had the tech to simulate the English language with perfection.

It says he's trying to be hip, so maybe he just speaks like Optimus Prime usually does, but says things he has heard Spike say as an attempt to be more human (and as comical for the film).

I would imagine there will only be a couple of lines that are intended to be comical, but for the most part he'll be good ol' Optimus Prime.

*Whew*! That was close! Thanks Mike Bay for NOT F-ING UP ON THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!:woot::trans::heart::trans::heart:

In that context, it's not all that different from the cartoon.

A lot of people who have trouble with this kind of thing really should re-watch the first 2 seasons of the cartoon. You'll be surprised if you haven't seen them in a few years as to just how goofy some of that stuff was.

Also much as the Oilers suck this year, the Flames suck more :o

I've got the S1 DVD set, and he's right. I was squirming at how bad the initial 10 episodes are, aside from the pilot. :(

So I let the box set cool on my shelf for about a year, and I got it back out this past fall. It was much more tollerable when I didn't take it as serious...
I'm sure this movie must be viewed in the same light. :word:

I think it be funny if Prime were to crash into a building and there were humans nearby and he says, My bad!

that's how i imagine it will be played in the movie... i can see it actually being kind of funny.

So they are getting the voice ators to sync up with the already finished CGI? Personally i'd have done it the other way round, but i'm not a film director so what do i know :oldrazz:

I like the fact that Cullen was busy watching the clips instead of recording his voice. lol

TigerClaw check out the 'Cr*p movie' thread, a portion of the leaked script was posted showing where we believe the 'My Bad' line is inserted. It's not as bad as it could have been.

i didn't draw it just in case anyone's wondering.

It works in T2 only because it's the GENIUS James Cameron barely making Arnold's colloquial lines work through the father/son motif in the film. IT DID NOT WORK when Mostow, the non-genius had Arnold doing "talk to the hand" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O-QqC9yM28.

so think about it and this argument is very flawed.

Bay is NO James Cameron so don't expect it to work on that man's level.

*that picture makes me cry, Dorky*

Let's make intarwebz babies :)

It might be blasphemous... but I think it barely worked in T2. It worked only because of exactly what you said (the father/son subtext).

And, yes, Michael Bay is no James Cameron. Not by a long shot.

Ditto. But I feel it barely worked in T2 due to Edward Furlong's eye-roll inducing performance. I think Shia's a better actor but I still feel strongly about Optimus deviating from his Stern/Leadership character by emulating a human boy. Let BB have the line...oh, I forgot...he can't speak.

Yeah, looking back at Furlong's performance in that movie, he was beyond awful. I don't care if it was his first movie.

Personally, Edward Furlong almost ruins that entire movie for me (that and a couple of stupid bloopers like the magically reappearing windshield on the semi). Only the performances of Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, and the dependable Ah-nold (and the brilliant story itself) keep me loving that movie.

I try to go to the bathroom whenever Furlong is on the screen talking.

It won't be stupid, it'll be funny...because Optimus Prime wants to be more human I believe in the movie...so by him saying stuff like 'my bad' (even if I doubt he will say the actual words 'my bad'), it will bring in some humor...either way, Peter Cullen won't mess up the movie, just knowing Peter Cullen even is making the voice for Optimus Prime overshines that fact.

i think he was calling Megatron "junk" not "jerk"....but either way would be awesome, hehe.
