Stylistically. The story was so crappy and it actually went against the game story horrendously. Silent Hill is Hell? WFT GTFP.

The thing is with Doom and RE, you know what you are getting. No pretenciousness, just pop corn action-horror. SH and the director made out like it would be so awesome and so deep, when it mistook depth and plot for muddy writing, piss poor dialogue and acting.

It was boring, the actors sucked and the plot was complete and utter ****.

It wasn't even entertaining, so it failed on all fronts.

Yup. I just watched it. It was pretty good for the first hour and a half, but the last thirty minutes totally derailed the whole film. :

Personally I thought that Mortal Kombat was a good movie for its time... the second one just sucked completely!

Silent hill I thought was a much better adaption than what the Resident Evil movies were.

Doom well thats another story.... Everyone hyped it up so much to the point that when it came out people said it was *hit..

It sounds like Halo: The Movie is going to fall for the same fate as Doom if everyone hypes it up the same way.
