Rise of the Silver Surfer PG Rating: DISCUSSION

Remember Alba and Chiklis talking on the DVD for the first movie about how the only reason that the death of "Ned" was altered was so that they could get the PG-13 instead of the PG? I thought that was pretty silly.

The only ones who are insane are the Fox executives for allowing this to be released with a PG rating.

As a superhero movie, a sequel to something not critically acclaimed but STILL PG-13?

My god, they need to show the blood pouring freely out of the General's body as is described in the novelization.

People like making excuses so they don't like the movie... before it comes out.

Last time I checked, having a few less profanities, a little less blood, and no sexual content didn't ruin a movie for me. If anything, it makes it more pleasant for me, to be honest.:o

The Justice League cartoons are proof (to me, at least) that solid superhero stories can be told without exceeding PG-rated bounderies. So I'm not worried one bit, as far as the rating's effect on the movie is concerned. I'm infinitely more concerned about the writing, dialogue, things of that nature.:word:

And off topic again...

Speaking of insanity, is denial a symptom. Like in when a pro athlete says, it's not about the money its the principal, its about respect, while holding out for that extra 2 million a year, cause they have a family to feed.

Or is that just self deception or just downright dishonesty.

Is it possible that the Fox suits are out of their minds as they salivate over the lure of cash that their stock options will generate if the movie with a PG rating and that thing that shall remain unnamed brings in a boatload of cash.

What then shall we say of them when they trumpet the fact that their movie is all about family values and appealing to the young kids.

Is this their true intent or are they deceiving themselves, being in denial over their true motives, the need for cold hard cash.

Can they even tell what their motivations are anymore, which brings us to the point, is extreme denial not a mild (semi) case of insanity.:cwink:

Just saying.:cwink:

People like making excuses so they don't like the movie... before it comes out.

I like how you say that as if it were fact.

Plenty of people here LOVE Fantastic Four. They do NOT love the PG rating though. I'm a bigass Fantastic Four fan, and I hate the PG rating.

I didn't say you... but it is fact there are people around here that like to make excuses for not liking the movie.

I didn't say you said me, I was just comparing myself to others.

Some people may have used this as an excuse...but a crapload are just mad at the PG.
Doesn't mean they don't like the movie.

I don't mind the PG rating at all. I just want to use this as another oppurtunity to point out what a Marvel tool AD is. :)

I can just imagine now the average moviegoers and people across the planet who are so furious this is PG-13. This is an outrage! We should all stand up and make a stand, create chaos, anarchy!!!! This is horrific! This is unjustifiable! The World is really going to end! There must be a 13 after the PG or it's Doomsday! This is a tragedy!

^^ Lol

I really don't understand the uproar over the rating, PG is good for me and I hope it makes Fox some money, so that they can get cracking on the 3 hour epic that I know FF3 is going to be

.. Also after seeing the clip on Jay Leno I must say that was kinda real genuine comedy, particularly the part where Reed walked past the window.

I am glad our Fantastic Four is so different from all the others. That is how Reed and Sue actually acted in the comics.

Good stuff.

Now about this denial thing, Cinemark lists the movie at 2 hrs.

No. They sure as hell don't need to show that. :whatever:
THAT would be insane.

2 Hours would be a dream!!!

As for the rating, i'm all for it...I just hope they didn't cut anything for the sake of getting a PG...

Yes. Well said.
The idea that a more family-friendly PG is going to hurt this film in terms of quality or box office is utter nonsense in my opinion.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby would have preferred a PG rating.
Of that you can be sure.

That's exactly what I've been saying, Malus. Stan and Jack always had the younger fans in mind because that's what the target audience was back in the 1960's. I really don't care what the rating is if the story is good. For example, the Harry Potter movies were written for younger readers yet it has grown into this huge franchise that has readers of all ages.

crap! its official!
oh well.......... there it goes...

Thank you!

wow! 17 pages. Really?

I don't know what this 17 pages is about, I was about to go to earlier pages but found myself strangely distracted by your avatar.

I seem unable to avert my eyes.

Hmmm..., yes this PG rating is going to be good for the youth.

We must endeavor to keep them as pure as the driven snow for as long as we can. :cwink:

No, it's an illusion by Mysterio.

A LOCAL PAID FOR MESSAGE FROM MYSTERIO:

I can assure you that this not an illusion. There was a nonsensical fight over PG vs. PG-13. The fact that the debate rages on shows in fact how bored people are that are just looking to start or participate in an argument somewhere.

So says Mysterio...

P.S. Quinton Beck is the GREATEST director of our time! Hitchcock, Spielburg, Scorcessee, lol, please- they are only amateurs compared to the genius that is Quinton Beck!

SPIDER-MAN 5 PREMIERING SOMETIME THIS SUMMER. TRAILER NOW AVAILABLE.

Pathetic plug? I know, but that's the nature of the biz. Lol.

Couldn't pass up the chance.

NOTE: For all those unfamiliar with Spider-Man mythos, Quinton Beck a.k.a. Mysterio.
