I really liked #5... The best of the mini series imo... Still, nothing compared to Endsong, but still, overall it has been a nice Cuckoo's mini series!

However using the title of "Phoenix; Warsong" was just cashing in on Endsong... it should have just been a mini series title around the Cuckoo's

I was actually hoping that all the cuckoos but Celeste woul die and just be done w/ all these clones OR that the two dead sisters would come back to make the 5-in-1

hang on a minute though. Emma hasnt' had her Diamond powers for long and Weapon Pluss entire plan seems to be focussed around them. She gained them in issue 116 (or maybe slightly before from Nova) and the Cuckoos first appearence, if im not mistaken was 118. This doesn't exactly give them much time to get a new sample of DNA from Emma, create this master plan of creating a load of diamond emma clones to store the phoenix, create a massive lab, create a weapon with hundreds of clones, growing a group of clones to maturity and infiltrating them in to the X-Men without anyone knowing.
I know WeaponPlus can slow and speed time, but this seems an awful lot to accomplish in such a short time. Especially as one of the Cuckoos has apparently been dating stuff for a while by then.

like i said from the beginning, i hope the NEXT part of this trilogy (if there is going to be one) focuses on jean/phoenix coming back to get the missing pieces. if it came back and wrapped all the lose phoenix ends laying about, then phoenix could leave jean alone on earth and restored to her original self. HOWEVER...i don't see a miniseries having a huge impact on the regular continuity. overall, what affect has either of these two series had on the MU? none really. so if jean is going to make a comeback, i'm going to venture off and say that it will happen in one of the main books, or be a sort of crossover.

on a side note, if you haven't read "inferno" yet, you really should.

Well, she had the potential to have her diamond powers but she didn't develop them until Cassandra did her thing (I guess it was something like what Sage did with Slipstream and Beast, she jumpstarted her mutation). And since it looks like children inherit some of their parents' powers, the Cuckoos got them from Emma (and maybe the secondary mutation (diamond powers) were just jumpstarted by the Phoenix.

Says who? We know everything that happened in Emma's mind after she betrayed Cassandra and helped stick her into Stuff was fake because that's when Cassie jumped into her mind, but we've no proof that anything that came before it was fake, including that scene where Nova talked about giving her the diamond powers.

Huh huh. It's not as if Emma helped bring down Cassie. TWICE. t:

Surely, Cassie would've put some sort of fail-safe had Emma been - knowingly or not - her pawn/ally all along.

And sticking Cassie inside Stuff wasn't so much betrayal as tricking the old scow.

Will leave it at that, though, since it would be material for the actual Astonishing thread.

i thought the series was decent overall. i'm not a jean fan(person) so i'm not all in a huff about the so-called misuse of the phoenix force, but i do agree that marvel was just capitalizing on it being associated primarily with jean.

i don't feel like digging up NXM, but was emma destroyed because the girls found a flaw in her form? i can't remember. because i don't see how beast can be so sure the hearts are indestructible if that wasn't the case. especially since he was the one who found shattered!emma.

anyway, the whole phoenix-trapped-in-diamond thing is pretty weak. and the whole not-feeling-emotions thing is, too... it's such a cheesy fictional construct, that emotions are felt in the heart.

Overall I was disapointed, did even hold a light to Endsong. I felt they had the right cast, the Astonishing crew & Stepford sisters was a great call, but the writing just didnt deliver.

Wow! I can't believe how long it has been. BN changed the release date for the trade all the way from Nov 28, 2006 to July 18, 2007.

I've only been able to find the hardcover warsong for pre-order. There isn't going to be a paperback edition?
