to be perfectly honest, the panels in endsong were just too confusing. At first they showed Storm doing all the lightning stuff. She attacked the ship with a lot of lightning bolts, then Quentin's eye glowed, and then the henchman said the phoenix fused their ammo.

So the phoenix telekinetically fusing the ammo is different from the lightning bolts from the sky summoned by Ororo right? Because I thought that the lightning was the effect they used to show that Quentin with PF fused their ammo psionically.

Trust me, I get that Sebita's a Storm enthusiast. It's just that Seb's point remains valid whether one mentions Storm or not in the discussion.

That being said, as far as I'm concerned, Storm got about as many silly mutant powers buffs as Jean. And I didn't take Seb's side in the Storm VS Jean thread.

As a matter of fact, I think I killed it by mentioning that Storm got owned by Phoenix in one panel in Endsong.

Only outrageous feat I can think of is like 1 or 2. Why is this even a discussion? Jeans character has been/is screwed over. She's basically useless now, compared to Ororo. Jean has died many times...I don't recall her character been screwed over...maybe she got screwed in one of the greatest X-men story???......

She's basically useless now, compared to Ororo.

Jean's not useless at all...last time she came back,the issues sold out...twice..she just not in any major story line....everyone knows when the X-men run out of story arcs....jean's ressurection is the answer....

Just to let you know Jean's lack of character devolpment comes from one of three storylines CONSTANTLY being rehashed.

1) Love triangles. 35+years of and the only personal devolpment they have for her is to have her firecrotch in high demand. Are you kidding? No leadership skills, no personal skills ( being a failed model doesn't count as a skill), "Help me save me even though I am uber and unstoppable," no wonder why she has lead only one mission, quiet some time ago.

2.) Birthing AU machine. Rachel, Cable (yes it's her clone's son, but it's still has her DNA, and X-Man.) Oy vey. Technically she's not even a mother because she hasn't raised a single child. And while I'm at it, I can put the whole obsession with her DNA in this category. How many times are they going to tell that story? So if that stays, then just for the hell of it, lets throw Maddie in this category. They killed her and brought her back more than once and they got rid of her when Jean came back. Was there a need to have two lookalikes who did the same thing basically both after the same man?

3.) Phoenix-Lather-Rinse-Repeat. JUMPING JESUS, HOW MANY TIMES DO WE NEED TO READ ABOUT THE PHOENIX? The act hasn't changed enough to hear about it every three years. Outside of the deadredbird, how has Jean's character changed. Compare the development of Kitty, Scott, Colossus, Storm, Hank, Psylocke, Rogue, Gambit, hell even Bishop to Just-Jean. There is a monumental difference. Why, because the only stories about Jean are the ones I mentioned above. It's like no one has the ability to tell a story that doesn't revolve around things in her, or that want to be in her...

We have seen X-men change drastically since their debut, but not so much for Jean. She hasn't been allowed to become a different or BETTER character like others because all that's written about her that has changed has been her *powers*. If that doesn't change then she needs to stay dead. Let her final sacrifice ACTUALLY mean something *this* time.

If she doesn't stay dead, please please please, let her have no Phoenix Force and no mutant genes. Let her come back completely human and start to be a better character. Maybe by having no powers she can learn to save herself instead of constantly needing a big strong man to save her when she's all powerful. It would be a great place to start to improve her. She needs to change, 25 years of stale storylines suck and blow like a malfunctioning Hoover.

We all know what a Phoenix is. The difference between Fawkes and Jean is that we see Fawkes on screen doing the Phoenix thing once. Count that...ONCE. That was one time in the theater, and once on DVD if the viewer saw it that way. Sure we saw Fawkes more than once, but we saw him die only once.

I don't know about you, but that cost me $9.

Every time Jean does the same bloody thing it cost money. Three dollars per issue. For what! The same storyline, with the same ending, and Jean doing the same thing, and having her behave the same way. Once again this wraps around to her lack of character development.

I am not/will not/didn't/ and don't pay for that crap over and over again. If your a fan of the character, demand more. Scream for change that benefits Jean, not another rehash of a story I'm sure you already own.

Jean life change drastically when pheonix came in contact with her, she was the first X-men get drastically changed in the fist place then guess what....every other X-men went through the same thing.....we have seen jean have a split personality and don't know who she is.......Cyclops you say changed drastically.........yeah right!!!!! Dumbledore explained Fawkes life cycle to harry potter...One time is good enough with the great explaination Dumbledore told harry...its about harry potter not Dumbledores bird.....my little cousin could predict what was gonna happen next when it dies again because he actually heard what dumbledore said.....he doesn't need to see it over and over again to realize the same thing he just seen is gonna happen again......he's a clever little boy!!!

UX 137, when Ororo held the Dark Phoenix at bay she could not escape her attack. Regreatbbly Cyclops (being the bad leader that he is) sent Wolverine and Colossus to continue instead of asking Ororo to finish her off (which she wouldn't have, but if she wanted she could have )

And in endsong she didn't have time to get back up since the next panel had Jean attacking Emma Phoenix

UXM 201 was the greatest piece of fiction ever written, her victory in said issue was legit and Claremont doesn't have a raging hard on for Storm.

Jean as Phoenix is overexagerated. She lasted as a viable character for nearly 15 years after her resurrection without the Phoenix Force. It was only Morrison that actually brought it back

Actually, Jean did raise Cable. At one point, Rachel used her wacky time-related powers to bring Jean & Scott's minds into the future in a couple of similar bodies. They raised Cable under the guises of Slym and Red Dayspring until Rachel died of old age, and their minds went flying back into the present day.

She's not entirely useless. But have you ever noticed a pattern that whenever a writer wants to write Jean, they write her as Jean without the PF or the sole antagonist of a story arc? Because she puts the Anti in anti-climactic in teams, like the X-Men.

and her current status as dead, and her not being resurrected for a long time now tells a lot that X-Men doesn't need her to survive.

I don't know who you are referring to but a character can survive without the X-Men. Being in the team since the beginning of their creation might not do that good for a character (esp. when a writer doesn't like a certain character). The whole ressurection Phoenix thing i die again story is what makes Jean a screwed character. Since her whole existence as a character revolves around a single thing. Next to Gambit, who is pretty much the king of all screwed (MOrrison sucks for not liking him).

Right. Check the Astonishing thread. I've made similar comments about Whedon and Kitty. I'm not 'out to bash Storm'.

Also... Jesus f****n christ. If I've said it one time, I've said it a f****n hundred times.

I genuinely like Storm as a character. It's her seemingly infinite uber l33t powers that tick me off. Trust me, I hate the Phoenix even more.

I just like her better as a weather WITCH then a weather GODDESS.

Having her *just* fly, affect weather on a medium-scale, summon rain/wind/blizzard and fry people should've been it. As if that wasn't enough. Jesus.

Jean died at the climax of the DPS....when she got her powers back he lost the other one....No telepathy but had her Telekensis.....she wasn't useless at all when she was using only her telekensis...that was jean up until GM's run........her on the team with one ability was fine......when she started with the power upgreade again during GM run(early2000s), she got back both her powers...she was only with Professor or by herself......Not with a team at all...GM was great in doing that, he knew that a powerful jean can't be on a team so she was only with the professor...a person near her power level.....you're delusional if you think Jean is screwed over because of your silly assumption that she too powerful to be in the X-men Mythologies.....you're talking about plain ol power display, I wonder what you think of your fellow storms talking most of the time about her powers all the time??

and her current status as dead, and her not being resurrected for a long time now tells a lot that X-Men doesn't need her to survive.

I list a pattern the writers that do the same thing over with every single X-men over and over again..............I could be general and indepth.......when jean is fully upgraded she never worked with the team so I seen no anti climatic agrument to what you are talkin about.....Only time she worked with the team was in the Pheonix saga.....and they needed her!!!! since they were dealing with things unknown to them...the star jammers, and the x-men needed to travel in space and only jean could do that......

The whole ressurection Phoenix thing i die again story is what makes Jean a screwed character. Since her whole existence as a character revolves around a single thing. Next to Gambit, who is pretty much the king of all screwed (MOrrison sucks for not liking him).

I genuinely like Storm as a character. It's her seemingly infinite uber l33t powers that tick me off. Trust me, I hate the Phoenix even more.

Then why are you bashing Claremont for something Hudlin did? Give me more facts on hw you think she's overrated so I can see it more clear.

I don't know what "medium scale" qualifies for you, but Storm has always been an extrmely powerful mutant, she just refuses to tap into that primal power. Again, I'd like you to ellaborate how you think she's ubber powerful.

There just was no need IMO for all that "possibly Omega" stuff (crap IMO - just so we're clear, I pretty much hate the omega concept in its entirity, it's not just 'Ro) Claremont is feeding us.

it was bad enough CR was doing the same thing that just happened a few issues back......if storm would die it would make the story a complete DP junior....luckily we only had dark storm for a few pages and nothing more....so that arc wasn't that horrible
