I brought Photoshop 6.0 off Ebay for a reasonable price quite some time ago, but since I don't have a book on PS I mainly use it to crop and resize images. Right now I'd like to use it to manipulate images by fitting a smaller image onto a bigger one, and put on text on the image (with a font of my choosing). Does anyone know how it can be done, or do you know a good website that can show me how? Thanks.

It will be hard to find tutorials written specifically for Photoshop 6 nowadays but most of the tools work the same now as they did then (I use 5.5 so I can verify this) so most photoshop tutorials you find should be relevant unless they use features or tools that are exclusive to newer versions. Even then, there is usually an equivalent tool or process for older versions. You can find lots of information in the Help files that should have come with your installation (especially if you actually paid for it) and there are a lot of good tutorials online if you just do a Google search for Photoshop Tutorials. As far as text goes, just use the text tool (it's a big letter T on the toolbar) and you can use any font you have installed on your system. Fitting a smaller image onto a larger one should be as simple as copying an image, pasting it into your photoshop workspace on a new layer and sizing it down with the free transform tool (ctrl + t) and positioning it with the move tool.

Thanks for your help! I'll see if I can find those tutorials.

Raiden, I used to be as clueless as you in photoshop a few years ago, now I can turn myself into weird.... things to say the least. I never thought I'd reach this point (still a long way to go) but all you need is some proper ideas on how to use the program and a bit of imagination and LOTS of a patience.

This was my first "tutorial" website, hope it helps you:
