Well you have to consider budget everything is expensive even remaking suits and EVEN Designing new ones cost money, Money that was used to give us incredible looking VFX. But mostly i think they didn't do it because it makes them look more like unit and whole team.

right right, they HAD to do it for x2, the x1 suits were "unbearable" and very tight, even though they were cool, they needed a revamp, given the enlargened budget on x2, suits were a main thing to change, now with X3, they have other concerns to worry about using tehe budget money for.

I for one LOVE love the suits. its pretty much the exact way id have done things if i were costume designer, ect...

Most definitely, I agree with you. From the start they should have had just a bit more color. The suits right now are almost interchangable if it weren't for a pink belt buckle or yellow slash marks.

The X-Men are a tactical unit just as the marines, army, navy, etc... What mutant hero or soldier would like to go into a battle with a red and yellow costume? No one. They might as well paint red and white X's on each of their suits. Their costumes are based on reality and given the highest realistic approach on what they should look like. The last thing Xavier would want for his team is a bunch of painted up circus mutants. Those black, leather suits convey a sense of organization and unity as a team.

ugh thats so tru, thank you. Great example. i liek the term "tactical unit"

they are literally tactical vigilantesor something, fighting to protect, btu they are still mutants and are sought out by the military, ect.....

Pulled this screencap from the Xverse forum:

It clearly is not 100% clear from that picture/screen...but I still think they could have made him look better.

Heh. Maybe one thing that would help are his eyes. Like I said...not a clear picture but still.

I agree with you for the most part. But would a navy seal wear leather? The team mentality is your main point and on that I agree with you but leather? They would be better off in fatigues, or whatever the hell material Storm's other costume is made out of. Her navy blue one is awesome and I wish all the costumes were closer to that, or Jean's Alkali one.

Jean's Alkali is the same team leather costume and IMO the Navy blue one Storm had looked kinda tacky.

Jean's is slightly different though. She has the red belt and it isn't so stuffy by the collar. And to each his own on the Storm suit.

I agree, but I think that it was Jean's hair that clashed with the leather that let it down. However those two things seperately aren't too bad.

As for Storm, I thought she was a Star Trek reject. I'm not too fond of the cape for her other costume either.

No a Navy seal would not wear leather. I was just making the example that a tactical unit/team wears sensible mathing uniforms. Leather is very durible and insulated, keeping the wearer warm. Most of the scenes and areas the X-Men visit are cold.

So no missions to the Bahamas or during summer time then? :p
Nope...no baddies hang out at beaches. I would like to see Storm, Jean, Kitty, and Rogue in matching X swimsuits for those beach missions though.

And what exactly would that be?... That's he's transparent, or that he doesn't look as you envisioned him in ice form? I was expecting him to look as transparent and as detailed as that Ice chick in "Die another Day", but that obviously didn't happen. Who knows, we might see a better version of him when the movie hits.
the look i can live with, what i have problems with is the iced up leather costume.

True one can say that his costume has been adapted to allow for his powers to manifest but i would have preferred to see him busting out of his costume 80s iceman animation style...

freezing it and exploding it out, leaving him in shorts. leather is restrictive enough let alone frozen leather.

i mean if mystique can walk around naked in full blue, then i don't know why a bobby drake in shorts isn't possible..

ah well...

so much potential but there always is in this thing

I raised that question yesterday. And now that I study it even more, the "V" line that makes up his torso continues on, even through his left arm where the light appears to be shining through. So I would have to say that he is DEFINITELY transparent (made of solid ice).

But this also raises another question, on how can he possibly convert his leather costume into ice?
Maybe Pyro burned off part of his costume and his arm is exposed.

Oh its possible.. i just dont care to see Bobby in a battle with shorts lol.

So....

1) How do you explain the light shining through his left arm?
2) How do you explain the dark torso line extending through his left arm?

If you can come up with a perfectly good explanation for these two occurances, I'll consider it. Otherwise, his arm looks pretty transparent to me.
He just fought Pyro and was engulfed in flames. Maybe part of his jacket got burned off and that is why you can see through his arm.

If that was the case then his face would look the same as the burned off piece of jacket.
Its just the angle, he is defintly all ice

If he was all ice wouldn't light be shining through his chest as well.

Depends on whats behind him and where the lights shining from
