I may be a Superman fan, but I like Spiderman to be set on his own. I felt the previous efforts had him to much as a nerd, in fact similar to a near bumbling Clark Kent. Let's move on and get the wise cracking dude with some confidence. He won't be the coolest guy in town, but won't stand out as being a nerd either

PLEASE leave the Donner influence at home for all new SH movies!

He starts out with glasses in the comics. And he may not be the same type of nerd as Clark Kent, he definitely is a nerd before his powers give him confidence.

First off, if he's in college, he'll have more self-confidence (though he'll keep the nerd tendencies). Second, Donner's movies have little to no influence on non-Superman stuff, so why bring it up?

It is well known that director Sam raimi liked the Donner Superman movies, and the influence is there to see in SM, SM2, SM3, in the first movie he is a nerd with glasses who likes Mary Jane but she finds Spider-man more attractive (like Clark Kent always follows Lois Lane but she like Superman.)

In S-M 2, spidey loses his powers (the story is different to Superman 2 but the idea is same) and then realizes that he needs powers to protect people.

In S-M3 he is transformed into an evil darker spidey just like in Superman3 there is an evil Supes.

But all of those details and storylines, with the possible exception of MJ finding Spider-Man more attractive, were seen in the Spider-Man comics as well.

Peter Parker has always been a nerdy kid. He's the poster boy of high school nerdiness and awkwardness. That's the point. Peter Parker was and is supposed to be the everyman high school student who has something fantastical happen to him. He does become a stronger person in both 2 & 3 though

THIS.

AND let's not see this again :down

I think there was a Spider-man shirt rip shot in SM 2 which was taken from directly Donner Superman movies.

Every recent superhero movie borrows ideas from previous movies.

I don't think he'll be wearing glasses...except maybe in flashbacks if they have them.

Yes, but let's extablish the fact that Christopher Reeve was great as both Clark Kent and Superman.

When he was Clark Kent he was huge nerd and fumbling all over himself(I'll admit a tad much sometimes - no real gripe at all) and when he was Superman HE WAS SUPERMAN. No NERD WUSS SUPERMAN aka NERD WUSS SPIDER-MAN.

So yes, I agree, and this complaint has manifested itself so much that Webb and Garfield and Arad and whoever better get the message already.

I agree, way to many explicit and implied references to Superman and the movies for my liking.

Spider-Man has too many great storylines of it's own to "borrow" from Superman as much as Raimi did.

What about when Superman was a drunk?

I don't think I remember any time when Spider-Man was a wuss nerd.

The three stories in the Spider-Man movies are the best stories about power. The gaining of it, the rejection of it and the abuse of it. Those three themes are found in most superhero franchiese, just not always in that order.

And the big difference between pider-Man 2 and superman 2 is that at least in Spidey 2 it makes sense that he gives up. I don't see why Clark can't be with Lois and be Superman at the same time.

Well this movie is gonna be set in high school... so I'll will expect alot of Nerdy parker, puny parker...

I think the Raimi took TOO MUCH from Superman. Watch

Superman-Boy starts to develop powers and wants to show off. Ends up learning a lession on how to use his powers for good. He then leaves home and starts to work at a big city news paper.

Superman 2-Superhero gives up his powers so he can be with the woman he loves who finds out who the hero really is. But gets his powers back when she, and the rest of the city need his help.

Superman 3-Superhero shows his dark side which is brought forth by an unknown substance. The hero also revists his roots and past relationships. (Lana Lang and the return to Smallville)

You say that because it may be based off Ultimate Spider-Man, in which he isn't nerdy.

Raimi's parker was whiney and clumsy. The 3 movies are littered with ample proof.

Yep. Seen these points before over the years, it is qft.

No, he's whiney and clumsy.

Yeah at this point I'm convinced you haven't even read the comics. He played basketball, he's an agile superhero. He had to let Flash kick him in the butt so people wouldn't know he's Spider-Man. He has been whiney, but in a funny way. He was never clumsy in Ultimate. And if at all, it would have been before the bite.

What I gather is that Peter was an outcast because he was shy, nerdy and misjudged. He was never a clutz or whiney. When he was at home with his aunt and uncle he was his true self. Funny and fun to be around.

Bitten by the Spider boosted his confidence, and he learned to be himself around others. He wasnt shy anymore and showed the same level of cool that his aunt and uncle see. Eventually becoming slightly more popular and accepted.

Woah Woah Woah Woah.... You don't want a nerdy (or nerdy looking) Peter Parker?

Peter Parker IS a nerd and wore glasses at the very beginning of the comics. He has to be a nerd. It's mandatory
