Now this is just plain strange... I'm not sure what to think about this.

Gaming website Shogun Gamer received an e-mail last night containing a link to a live-action Pokemon movie trailer. According to the person who e-mailed it to them, a private screening was held at a movie theater last night and the Pokemon trailer was shown. The trailer was three minutes long, but the person only managed to pull out their camera for the last 40 seconds of it.

It is standard practice for film companies to have “test screenings” of movies and trailers to gauge the reactions of audiences, so this isn’t something too unbelievable. While the trailer in-and-of-itself looks pretty legitimate, its content does not seem to conform to Pokemon’s young standards (Team Rocket, if that’s who they are, uses guns). Film students like me are gaining greater access to CG software every day, so this could just be someone’s film project that they tried to pass off as real. As of now, we’re not sure what we’re dealing with here, so please take this trailer with an absolute grain of salt. It still looks pretty interesting even if turns out to be a fake - someone obviously spent a lot of time on it!

Even if it turns out real (which I'm sure it isn't), it looks awful. It holds none of the style or fantastical elements that made the original games so fun and unique. To me it looks no different from Dragonball: Evolution or Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, or any of the other DTV quality Americanized adaptations of Japanese properties.

If they were ever to do a live-action Pokemon movie, the only way I could see it being done would be along the lines of Speed Racer, completely over-the-top.

That has a very 'fan film' vibe to it. Well-made for a fan film, but I doubt it's anything more than that.

hard to tell but just from the lighting and the fact that the cg looks like that foreign HULK movie, id say this fake, or at least not the product of any studio

I dont think its for a real movie. They would totally gear it towards kids and not make it near as dramatic as that trailer.

I hope that's not real it honestly looks terrible.

I'm surprised there isnt already a live action pokemon movie released.

Is there a live action Archie?

I don't think Nintendo would even be in the business of making a movie based on any of their series after the dismal showings that happened with Mario.

But Pokemon isn't their creation, so to speak, compared to Super Mario Bros., is is? It was a manga/anime first, right? Nintendo wouldn't be involved in any development of a live-action film, would they?

As a hater of the anime (although the games are OK), I almost had a heart attack when I saw this. There's no way this **** can be legit. It would be the beginning of the Apocalypse as we know it!

Okay, why do they have guns!?!?!? I have never seen anyone in the anime or video game of Pokemon anime or video games carry or use a gun.

It looks as bad as the live action Dragonball movie that came out....

I hope for the sake of all, that this is a fake.

I think it might have a better chance then you guys are giving it for the following reasons:
1) It looks thematically and tonally similar to POkemon Special, which was awesome.
2) I'm willing to excuse the CGI as extremely early versions, as opposed to the actual quality.

THAT SAID, I think it's either fake, or an add spot for Black and White meant to run on a tv channel geared towards older viewers.

It looks like it was a very well-made trailer made by students of film school, not a legitimate film. It's quite interesting, though, since it doesn't seemed like it's catering to young audience at all, with the Rocket Team blasting away with guns and not cute Pokemon.

I know the Safari Zone Warden pulled a gun on Ash and company in an episode. But that led to the episode being banned in America, so your point is still valid.

For anyone thinking this is legit, do you really think Nintendo would be able to keep the filming of a live-action Pokemon movie under wraps this long? It's obviously fan made, in no way would the first news of this movie be a trailer.

Most likely fake, but why all the bashing for its tone? Clearly whoever made that trailer was going for a more modern take on something thats really campy and aimed directly towards children. I dont think it would be so bad if they went the whole gun pokemon mob route if there were to ever be a live action movie, it targets a larger audience it would attract people who were fans but feel too old for it nowadays. Dont get me wrong im not saying you should have people getting shot and killed and have a R rating im saying have it be a bit more realistic and modern. I dont think the way pokemon is nowadays would be successful at all as a live action film just for the fact the audience it too specific and just for kids, you'd have to change it up.

Looks like a promotion for a new Pokemon video game.

or some fan made movie.

I'm not hating on the grittier take on Pokemon, I'm just saying it looks a lot like the live action DBZ movie did. Maybe the story would be better, maybe not. Regardless, I'd hate for it to be as big of a flop as that movie was.

I'd rather it be all kinds of awesome, not below mediocre.

Why would they make Pokemon dark and serious? why?

Anyways...obviously a fake and a terrible looking one to boot.
