Police Officer Accidentally Kills 5 Year Old Boy

This is a terrible thing, the family must feel aweful and the cop even worse. How on earth could someone who's supposed to be trained to shoot end up hitting a kid? so sad :(

do you guys search for the worst **** on the net or something? like who wants to post this, and get more people sad cuz they feel sad? why do i want to be depressed?

Ummm... so do you believe the news should only show kittens and puppy dogs?

so you are suggesting that the cop was trying to shoot the 5 year old? or this whole story was made up to cover up the murder of the 5 year old by his grandfather for out fishing him?

oh yea and this isnt the news. if this is where you get your news, you are quite sad. i dont feel the need to post that i heard some sad story on the news so i have to go and tell everyone else about it. i hate people like that. you feel horrible so you feel that you need to spread it to others. pathetic, keep your sorrow to yourself.

Why would you shoot a snake, with no one in immediate danger, and how would it travel at the right angle to hit a 5 year old in the head? That's two different levels of range. I'm with Kritish- take away this cop's badge before this happens again.

So who forced you to enter the thread in the first place:huh:

NOBLE, Okla. -- A stray bullet from the gun of a Noble police officer, meant for a snake in a rural area, struck and killed a 5-year-old boy Friday night, authorities confirmed.

Jack Tracy said he was fishing with his 5-year-old grandson, Austin Haley, Friday night when he saw the first shot hit the water near where they were standing. As he pulled his grandson to his side, he said, a second shot hit the boy in the head.

According to Noble City Manager Bob Wade, two officers were investigating a call from a family about a snake. Wade said it was in a rural, wooded and isolated area near a pond with no houses.

Officers shot at the snake but then heard Austin screaming. He was taken to an area hospital where he died.

He said the incident was under investigation and that Noble's mayor and city attorney had been notified.

"All I can say is that this is extremely tragic," he said. "We are just devastated."

Very Sad :(

that's really messed up...

Nobel? How the hell does he decide to shoot at a snake and not only miss but hit rock TWICE?

WTF

First of all I get my news from digg.com a very popular website. Its not like I go onto google and search for every story involving dead children.

When people go into a thread entitled "Police Officer Accidentally Kills 5 Year Old Boy" they know that it's going to be sad. Maybe you should read the ****ing title of the thread before you go into it and blame the poster for creating it. There are people who want to know about **** that happens, and if you don't, read the title of the thread next time.

Quote someone, its very hard to know who you are talking to....

It is news, it has already been on several news outlets already......as some have already said, read the title, if its not something you want to read or discuss then don't.....but there is no need gripe at someone bringing a topic to this board.....if you don't like it, don't go in the thread.

Why would you call the cops to dispose of a snake in a rural area?

I hate when people do that. I went to a cabin with family in Georgia and they called the caretakers about a snake that was in our cabin...they killed it. I was so f'n pissed...still am.

I really don't understand how aiming at a snake hits a kid. I mean, was the snake standing upright of something?

That's my question, I asked if the snake was flying or something.....

I wonder if it was climbing a tree.

Rat snakes can climb, but not sure about other snakes found in Oklahoma.....maybe it was on a rock or something......

But that would be stupid as well, shooting at a rock may bring the bullet right back at you.......and the bullet that hit her couldn't have been a ricochet because the father said that a bullet landed next to them right before the bullet that hit her.....I don't see a ricochet hitting almost the same place 2x....

just weird....

what i wanna know is...how was the snake positioned so that a stray bullet hits a kid in a boat? like others have said...that should DEFINITELY be the officer's badge...

Thats sad, even if its not the cops fault. The boy is no longer alive.

dude who the hell fires at a ****ing snake? This is pathetic and the family must be feeling so crappy that they can't do anything about it because it was a mistake made my a cop. I bet someone else did it and they would be behind bars. The again its not the cops fault, but dude who the hell fires at a snake?

I know. I laugh when I picture a cop shooting a snake. To kill it just pick up a rock and squish its head. :o

he should have just thrown rocks at it

snake isn't going to bother anyone really, they do nothing but lay there and look cool.

When ever I see this thread I think of Reno 911.
