Possible malware imbedded here?

Yeah the hypes got a virus every time im coming on here everything goes nuts telling me about it.

Sort it out or shut down the hype people computers are at risk

Yeah, same thing that happened to me as to Asteroid-Man.

I've had to remove Acrobat Reader just to get on here. It was almost like whatever it is was trying to load it but my computer was fighting it. At the same time though, this would use up all the available memory that I had, meaning it would take even 5 mins for task manager to show up.

Some process, maybe a mouse over event spawned a new window (I am using SeaMonkey 1.1.13) and tried to load a pdf. I recall the IP address began with 76. the page itself had pdf_php or similar. I killed Seamonkey, then check Task Manager for suspicious threads. It hasnt happened again today, so far.

Download any virus protection software like Norton or McAfee...also the latest version of Spybot-S&D PLUS Resident which comes with it very important. I already had these installed when i have checked these boards and they went ballistic the past week. They managed to block it all....just a heads up on what worked for me. Mods can you give us a update on this stituation.

It seemed to be working fine this evening, but just alittle while ago it all started up again. Everytime I come to the boards my antivirus goes nuts saying it blocked a trojan.

I am getting it often when I come here as well. Unsettling.

If this goes on for too much longer I'll just have to stop coming.

^Now we wouldn't want that. I'm sure Mirko's doing everything in his power.

My Acrobat Reader kept opening and i didnt know why, guess i know why now.

I wanna take a sec and apologize to everyone getting this. I just got back this weekend from visiting some friends in Jersey [and yes, I went to the Quick Stop--we were four blocks away]. I've personally not seen anything happening to me, so I can't be sure of how I could do anything to specifically help, but in the meantime, you might want to consider ClamWin Antivirus. I personally use it [after Jag told me about it], and it's great. It's light, easy to use, and works great.

Every page I've loaded today has made my uni's Anti-virus pop with something called script[1].js what's going on?

I did a system restore, so far nothing has come back *fingers crossed*

I closed it and got this (this time I got the bottom ad in the scr too.

Yep, this is the one I've been getting as well. And that's on top of the numerous intrusion attempts my Norton antivirus has blocked. The notifications tell me the source of the threat is akademikerzeitung.ch.

I'm worried and disappointed about this, as the Hype forum is my favourite site, and my most trusted site. The last place I'd expect to be under virus attack.

Here's what I got from my McAfee:

trojanscreenshotan1.jpg

Each line is for every page I loaded or refreshed.

Since the McAfee I have installed is a corporate application, it logs these issues to a corporate server. SHH is not a blocked site here at work, and I don't get in trouble for viewing it here and there, but if this keeps up, there's a chance that the site or worse - the IP, will get blocked from our servers.

FYI - nothing happens when I do a client-side-only (AJAX/AJAXish) load; Like when I posted the above message using the quick reply.

thats the thing, i've got the pop up that has been mentioned here. but my multiple scans with avg, spybot and superantispyware all say nothing have downloaded. so you must have to be dum enough to actually download the thing

Mine just says worm blocked, then says Acrobat failed to open, bloody thing

*shakes fist*

I must say it appears the mod response to this has been.... well, somewhat leisurely, to say the least. I understand that resolving these things takes time, and they are probably busy at work behind the scenes, but at least a warning/update sticky to inform people of the threat, advise them on how to protect themselves, and keep us updated on the situation would be appreciated.

Aw crap, I'd been fine, but today when I clicked on the Hype my Adobe reader popped up :csad:
