Possible movement on Black Widow spin-off?

I cannot watch the video. What are the cliffnotes?

Basically they say it's going to be a prequel that takes place around the fall of the KGB, and then years later where she's in America pre-Iron Man 2. They mention that it's possible she will be a love interest of Daredevil (which reads like BS to me much as I want to believe it) and that Winter Soldier might have a role in the movie. They also say it's gunning for a 2020 release.

All of that sounds plausible to me except for the Daredevil thing. I figured it'd be a prequel, but involving the Winter Soldier sounds like a good idea given that we know they have a history.

Yeah, everything seems like things that are speculated before. But that Daredevil thing, as much as everyone wants to believe it, I really don't see it ... Dunno.

Hmmmmm...that puts her back on my kill radar if it is a prequel, LOL!!!! But the Daredevil thing has me iffy on it. I don't see that being a thing either. I am assuming this will be our August 2020 movie.

Would be cool to see Charlie Cox pop up in this...but I just doubt it.

I'd love it if Daredevil got the guest hero spot if this BW film does happen. It would be a natural way for the films to acknowledge the Netflix shows given the characters' history in the comics, as unlikely as that is to happen.

I’m excited to see more women direct more blockbusters. Especially Amma Asante. I adored Belle

Yes like think James Bond but Marvel style when it comes to Black Widow especially since she is a spy...master assassin no doubt specializes in black ops/covert ops government missions she would not only be on the radar of SHIELD/HYDRA but the CIA and or MI6 or Interpol or FBI any other top secret government agency

I mean, minus the master assassin part, isn't that essentially Winter Soldier you're describing? Since both she and Cap did end up on their radar by film's end.

I wish they would introduce a different Daredevil for the movies, it’d be cool to see him in the MCU

He already is in the MCU, and it is amazing.

Yeah isn’t it weird we saw Spider-Man in the avengers before we saw the characters marvel actually owns together like Luke cage et all.

I suppose anything is possible. I used to swear til I was blue in the face the xmen and ff will never hang out with the avengers but that looks like it will happen. They might just have to drop a huge bag of cash at netflix’s door to let them do it though

Fun fact: More then 65 directors have met for the BLACK WIDOW job. Marvel being extremely thorough on this one

The presidential election is also in the year 2020. I wonder how the film may be represented during all this from a marketing standpoint.

Gosh 65 directors. How tiresome. Imagine hearing 65 pitches, they probably all sound the same in the end.

Still, at least they’re taking their time to do it right. I want it done right more than I want it now

A-Force film?

Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Gamora, Nebula, Captain Marvel, Wasp, Mantis

It's not really a matter money but coordination. When the film and television divisions are largely separate it's difficult to work in a cameo which fits into the timeline of both the movies and tv shows. Hopefully with Disney branching out into its own streaming services there can be more coordination in the future.

A prequel is fine with me. I'm cool with a Black Widow standalone, but I don't necessarily need her trilogy. A one off is just fine

I guess they just need to be careful to think of a way to do it which isn’t too similar to atomic blonde or that jlaw one from last year I think it was. Can’t be bothered checking

A sequel makes sense, especially as it allows for her death in Avengers 4. A sequel could reintroduce us to characters such as Bucky, Howard Stark and elements of Hydra, in addition to a cameo (or something similar) by Fury, Coulson, Hawkeye and the likes.

I'd say Captain Marvel too, but presumably if Tasha had been introduced to her by now, she'd have brought her up in conversation.

Trust me. A Black Widow movie would be not at all similar to either of those

Did you mean prequel there? :)

The problem is if BW dies in A4 and then after that, we get a BW prequel - the whole thing feels kind of irrelevant. Why spend one of the film slots on a character who is dead, set in an era of the MCU that has been thoroughly closed. You don't really add anything to the MCU that way.

So I am hoping for a sequel, though I'm certainly up for it digging into Widow's past. I'm thinking Widow, Hawkeye and Falcon teaming up to take down a threat to a newly reborn SHIELD.

Some prequel elements are ok, but I want to see older post-Avengers Natasha having to squeeze back into the spandex for a post-retirement mission.
