Comics Spider-Man in August

What would be really great would be if Pete reverse-engineered the failsafe in his suit and found a way to shut Stark's Iron Man suit down. He wouldn't even have to fight Tony, which frankly would be beneath him. Just push a button and Tony is instantly imprisoned in his own suit, while Spidey gives him a good tongue-lashing.

What if on the off chance there is no control switch in the Peter's suit? What if Tony had that much faith and trust in Peter that he felt he didn't need that level of control when it came to Peter and their friendship?

Everyoen is expecting Tony to have some type of failsafe in the suit but would be a nice twist if there wasn't one.

Is it just me or does it really suck how this whole Civil War stuff is portraying Tony Stark as a bad guy? The way he's been portrayed lately makes him seem like a sneaky, evil dude. It makes us forget that he is Iron Man the hero. I know this story definitly makes me not trust Tony anymore. I dunno, does anyone else agree?

It's not the real Tony Stark. It's an evil clone ;)

Wow....looks like a pretty good month!

I'll be getting:
USM #98 and 99
USM Annual #2
Sensational Spider-Man #29
Spider-Man Family: Amazing Friends

I'm tempted to get FNSM#11 for the return of Mysterio, but I fear it'll be the lame-ass Mysterio from Spider-Man/Black Cat.....:(

I'm getting the S-M F: Amazing Friends...
Sensational seems tempting...
Holy Crap! I might be about to break my non-buying hiatus...

Man, i wish the Amazing Friends Special was set in current continuity. That would be wild. It's something i've been hoping for, for over two decades.

Sensational sounds..um...Sensational! Lol.

Wonder which version of Mysterio we'll get in FNSM? I really hope PAD makes himself useful and settles that mess once and for all.

I would still be buying FNSM itf it was all about artwork for me, simply because I love 'Ringo's art. I just don't dig the stories. Wrestlers....bringing back Uncle Ben...too much.

Still, if this marks the return of QUENTIN BECK as MYSTERIO, then I'm in.

Heck, i'd even settle for Danny Berkhart, at this point. Anyone BUT Kevin Smith's version from The Evil That Men Do.

Wow. The Chameleon returns in the pages of Sensational Spidey. Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Now we're going somewhere with this.

And whats up with the Mysterio hatred? How come people are hating the guy who is supposedly the new Mysterio from Evil that Men Do? I mean, the guy didn't even put the suit on in the book. He only saw the suit sitting in a canister. How can you dislike a character that hasn't even really made an appearance as Mysterio yet?

Cuz the character in tetmd was a dud....putting a classic suit on a dud serves no purpose than to devalue the original......

I love the descriptions for USM,FNSM and Sensational.

Mysterio and the Chameleon are back.Yay nice to see some classic villains. And Chameleon's recruiting a team of Spidey's deadliest foes.Excellent.I hope Ock is in there.I know he was due for a return this year some time.

A dud how? I don't know what you mean by a dud.

I thought that it was a cool idea that he got the Mysterio suit and was hoping to see him appear in the pages of Spider-Man sometime soon. Looks like it may happen but Marvel's continuity is rather poopy. Peter David might make it somebody else completely.

I just thought the character was lacking.....a good villain invokes emotion.....Francis is weak as a child and weak as an adult....there was absolutely zero growth of character, nothing to make him more interesting......at the end of the mini I was left with a sort of..."yah...so?" feeling....I didn't feel sorry for him, I didn't feel anger towards him....I didn't feel anything......so what's the point?....etc...jmo...(doesn't help the character's cause that the entire mini he was featured in was a mess)

EDITED TO ADD BBB (Bring Back Beck)

Speaking for myself; It's because Berkhart was established first as the new Mysterio after Beck's (supposed) death, however, he really wasn't even given a chance to shine before Smith uncerimoniously replaced him...(Translation: Smith never bothered to read The Mysterio Manifesto, or if he did, he decided to go ahead and do his own thing, because hey; he's Kevin freakin' Smith)...

In my opinion, If i support Smith's vision, then that means i support the blatant disregard of continuity prevalent at Marvel these past five years or so, as well as a certain air of "non-chalantness" towards Spider-Man's classic rogues gallery by the Spidey offices, and personally, i've decided i'm not going to do that.

The Mysterio Manifesto?

This obviously must have taken place before I got back into comics in 2002.

While I knew that the original died in the pages of Daredevil I had no idea that he had already been replaced by Berkhart.

I was under the impression that there hasn't been a Mysterio since Beck and the character from Evil That Men Do was the first to wear the suit since.

Obviously I was wrong. But I'm still interested to see who will be under the Mysterio mask in the FNSM arc.

Awesome!! The return of both Mysterio and Chameleon! And Medina's back! Not to mention the end of Spider-Man as Iron Man's lackey if the cover is to be believed (which it most likely is)! And the Ultimate Clone Saga! Wait, the UCS changed from 7 parts to 5? What the hey? Anyway, August looks like a very promising and awesome month .

I think there is also an add on arc called the Parker Legacy which wraps up the CS as well

Like issue 39 for Venom
