A few people have mentioned wanting to do, or wanted done, a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie Re-Imagined.

So here is the thread to post your ideas on how you think it should be re-imagined.

My idea for a Power Rangers (reimagined) movie, is sort of the same way they are now only with A level special effects.
Use lots of CG effects, in a good way and not overtly CG, and use special effects artists like Stan Winston.

They would still be teenagers called on by an alien to help save the world against invading alien forces, but I'd make it more realistic and dramatic. I'd eliminate most or all of the cheese factor.

I'd make the reason they were chosen more about their DNA or something, have Zordon look more alien and the effects on his floating jelly head in a jar look and sound better. He would also be more of an authority and not always so nice. I'd make him sort of like Marvel Comic's the Watcher. I'd also have the little robot being different, he wouldn't exactly be the comedy relief. There would be lots of different robots taking care of Zordon, since he is unable to do it himself. The robots would look more like robots and less like guys in suits. For example robot arms, robots designed for specific tasks. Like Robots on assembly lines.

As for the Teenagers, when they were human I'd still have them have their incredible alien powers. I would probably make it pretty clear that they were no longer completely human, and were now partly alien. When they have to fight as humans I'd make their fights more action packed, like when Peter hit Flash Thompson on the first Spider-man movie or when Clark ran fast and jumped very far in Superman Returns.

In uniform, I'd show that they colorful costumes were uniforms and the metal faces are their real body after being transformed. I'd have them be able to move their mouths. and redesign their costumes to look more like alien uniforms or something.

The robots would be done using a combination of animatronics, guys in suits, and CG animation and effects. They would look more like robots, but also alien.

The monsters and bad guys would be done like Alien, Preditor, type stuff. Suits and CG to make them seem real instead of guys in suits. I see the main bad guys being Lord Zed and Rita, only they are more evil and threatening than they were on TV.

There would be more stuff about alien experiments and technology on the movie. Also the US government, and other governments, would have more involvment such as sending in the army to stop a monster. And they would be helpful too.
The actors should also be good actors too, but not necissarily well known actors. Maybe unknowns for the teens.

I see the movie having the overall tone of the Spider-Man films, serious but not too harsh.

I'll have more, and better, later.

not bad maybe each teen could have his powers from a different PR souce
ex red ranger dino thunder
blue ranger ninja
yellow ranger turbo
black ranger animals/wild force etc etc:ninja

Yeah, I was sort of thinking of the same thing. Like maybe the reason they are different colores like red and blue is that each Ranger has powers from a different alien species or something along those lines.

Anyone is allowed to post their ideas for their version of Power Rangers re-imagined.
What would you do with them?

I don't think the acutal concept needs to be reworked that much. I think they just need to enot down the cheese big time and make things a bit more realistic. I mean, did these guys EVER have homework, family issues or relationship problems? What kind of toll does being a Power Ranger take on their personal lives? HOW THE **** DID ERNIE STAY IN BUSINESS IF EVERY DRINK WAS "ON THE HOUSE"?!?!:cmad:

why did no one suspect them when they always hung out together and wore their civvies as their respective ranger colors?:o

he was selling crystal meth to Bulk and Skull

Space rangers, no teenagers, zed actually evil, zordon an actual general, alpha five not an idiot, hard R rating...I have alot of in depth notes on what I would do with this, but I want to keep them to myself for if I ever make it in hollywood...it's one of my dream projects

And no unnecessary martial arts hand motions EVERYTIME they speak. Damn that was annoying...

Jeez, you guys don't understand the Power Rangers at all.:(

I think we do...the thing is that a lot of us feel that it has the potential to be a real serious type of fantasy movie.

I personally have always envisioned a MMPR movie in the vein of like the Green Lantern Corps. where the 5 are recruited and introduced to a PR Corp. in space w/ Zordon being like the 'leader' (Think JLU, but they're all Power Rangers). It would be a kind of thing where they are introduced to various PR from various planets whose mission is to protect the universe. Think of the PR as the "galaxy police" or somethin' and every planet is assigned a team.

Hence they could use, PR Zeo, Turbo, Ninja and all those other crappy incarnations and say that they are power rangers that protect other facets of the galaxy.

The "Original" PR are the Earth-based incarnation.

That's how i've always seen it.

This shows you guys don't.

Again it shows you don't. Unless you're talking about everything after Mighty Morphing Power Rangers.

I believe they already did that with their shows.

If by Original you mean MMPR, then yes.

I don't think you get what i'm or anyone else in here is saying.

I get the MMPR...like you I grew up watching it and enjoying it for what it was.

However this thread is about a RE-IMAGINING of the concept. And if I were to RE-IMAGINE it, this is how I would want it to be.

This thread is basically asking, if you could take the MMPR idea in a different direction...what would you do? This is what I would do...

Plus there are no wrong answers here.

Adding to my idea, up top, I would use the original concept. Have it be the Red, Blue, Pink, Yellow, Black, and maybe the Green Ranger, with their dino themed robots.

And I like the idea of showing what toll being a Rander would have on them, because after they are chosen to be the MMPR they are no longer normal humans let alone normal teens. And it would sort of be set in the real world.

and the rangers could have allies in the vr troopers

Power Rangers is for kids. They dont need their happy young lives bothered by teenage, relationship and financial problems.

If you give the Power Rangers a large SFX budget, and a storyline that makes sense, then you no longer have the Power Rangers.

I would def have the teens be a little more creeped out about meeting a giant floating head, and being told their the only ones who can save the world.

I would hope Zordon's qualifications would be more than "Teenagers With Attitude" as well.

Only thing forgoten is that, american version of power rangers was drastically changed from the japanese version. Refered to as Sentai Rangers, there are certain sentai ranger series that are more oriented towards adults, with alot more of an darker/dramatic feel to it.

One yall should check out is called
GARO

The Red Ranger is killed in the original...I believe.

What do you mean? I know in the Japanise version the green ranger dies.

Oh wait...there you go. It was either the red one or the green one.

At least make them look respectable...
