Comics Praise be to the Gods! Romita RETURNS '08

I, like many others have already stated, have a feeling that they're overcompensating for the fact that One More Day will be TERRIBLE....
A story can be terrible and you just thank goodness it's over and move on...

They 86 the marriage and it's a terrible thing that's NEVER over.

For me, it's a deal killer. THAT's why they're scared. They KNOW it's going to be unpopular with A LOT of people.

So this REEKS of damage control.

I'm not really a fan of his boxy faces. There are many other people I'd rather see attached to it.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Joe Quesada doesn't do what's right for the Spider-Man books? I swear some of you people ARE ******ed.

Lets see...Dan Slott and Steve McNiven together on Amazing after OMD? Oh, that's not good enough?

Now John Romita Jr. returns and it's possible that Slott will be writing on the BEAUTIFUL pencils?!?!?!?! Could it be?!?!? Slott/Romita Jr.? Is it? If it is I'm going to go to New York and make out with Joe Quesada. Yeah, that's right. I'm going to turn gay because an editor in chief put my favorite artist and writer on a comic book together. Take that you right wing republican uptight squares. :oldrazz:

Somone get this man a towel!

Like I said before, Slott/Romita Jr. is just a little TOO perfect...something's horribly wrong...

I'm excited about Slott. As for Romita Jr....eh, whatever.

I respect the fact that JRJr has his own style, as opposed to just copying his dad's technique. He's far from my least favorite Spidey artist, but he's sure not in my top 10 either. Slott is the main selling point for me.

Here is a podcast from Spider-Man Crawl Space to John Romita Jr! He's very funny, and
I really like the fact that Spidey is his favorite character to draw. He has such passion for the character, which is one of the reasons he is such a great artist for Spidey. He also mentions that Venom is more fun to draw than Carnage. When he said said that
the 9/11 2 page spread drawing was his most difficult because of the background. He sure did an amazing job with it.

This has gotten me even more excited ofr Jr.Jr. and Dan Slott working togeather on ASM! He also answers my question. :spidey::up:

I used to like Romita Jr. before he started drawing Spider-Man looking as skinny as a teen going through puberty.

That panel from last year with Spider-Man looking like Capt America's anorexic son in ASM still gives me nightmares.

You know that used to bug me until I realized that Peter used to be as big JRJR's Cyclops or even Cable. At least now, he's making an attempt at relative proportions between the various superhero characters and i think it's really helped his art. Everyone else draws Spidey as being skinnier and shorter than Cap anyways.

I realize that Spider-Man is skinnier and shorter than Capt America, but not to the point where Spider-MAN doesn't even look like a man standing beside Capt America.

And Cyclops should be somewhere right between Spider-Man and Capt America.

Yeah the reason JRJR downsized web head is because he became aware of the fact that he used to draw him too bulky. After that he made a conscious effort to not give him the same build as Cap.

I agree that sometimes JRJR can go a little too far and Spidey looks too thin, but when he gets it right it looks perfect. See the cover to ASM#505.

He also mentions that Venom is more fun to draw than Carnage.

That's interesting.

I know he likes to draw big muscular figures like the HULK, but strangely JRJR's take on Venom is not as bulky as his popular image.

Infact, as great as JRJR is, I always thought his Venom was pretty weak because the dimensions were wrong and he was just too slim.
