you know most people are very partisan. especially base voters. They tend to go along with whatever BS their party throws at them. I'm talking democrats and republicans.

If Rudy guilliani who supports gay marriage becomes preisdent, would all the republicans at these message boards and across the country defend it and suddenly support gay rights? They wont want to attack their own party's president.

He could end up causing the majority of Americans to support it, because the left already does.

edit. ...

two gay people decide they want to get married, buy a house with a white picket fence, adopt a few kids, and buy a family dog than I say they have strong family moral values.

Currently most republicans just don't get it. They don't understand family values.

Very few will actually switch sides just because of one politician.

why would anyone want to get married?

and yes I am married.

He makes a valid point though, the Republican powers that be, will have to support it simply because their "man" does.

That is exactly why Giulliani will never win a presidential primary.

IF THE REPUBLICANS WANT TO WIN, THEY'LL NOMINATE EITHER HIM OR MCCAIN. OTHERWISE THEY'VE AUTOMATICALLY LOST THE ELECTION TO THE DEMOCRATS (UNLESS IT'S HILLARY CLINTON).

AND I THINK THAT RUDY COULD GARNER SOME SUPPORT FOR IT, BUT IN THE END, THE MAJORITY OF THE REPUBLICANS WILL STILL BE OPPOSED TO IT.

I also think the majority of republicans will still be opposed to it, I just think enough of them wont be to tip the scale in favor of a majority of Americans supporting gay marriage.

Perhaps they would publicly, and the party always maintains the unity or claims to, but I'm not sure that a Presidential candidate would use that as the basis of his campaign.

If that issue was raised, he'd probably use the classic, 'I'm working with my party for an impartial America; come, work with us to succeed,' or something of that nature to dodge the question and secure, at the very least, a 1st term.

Every politician has individual alliances or desires, but they usually bow to the party dictation. The former Mayor is probably no different.

Or because he just disagrees.

bigot means to be unaccepting or intolerant of another lifestyle, culture, tradition, or whatever. He's unacepting and intolerant of gays or gay rights. that is the definition of bigotry. Is it not? People don't like the word bigotry because it sounds bad and it's a sin, but they commit it all the time.

So if someone is against pedophilia or beastiality, does that make them a bigot?

I'm not comparing homosexual relations to pedophilia/beastilality BTW.

I just want to know, because according to that defenition it is bigotry.

Ok then, by your rules, we're all bigots.

Bigotry is extreme prejudice; often, it's carried to the point of violence.

Yeah. . .
bigot means to be unaccepting or intolerant of another lifestyle, culture, tradition, or whatever.
to the tenth power so to speak, or in an extremely vehement or unyielding way, but not just in general . . . or whatever.

that's not true at all. you live and let live in peace. you let the kid live their life in happiness. That's not bigotry. every victim of child molestation wishes they weren't molested. I respect their wish to live that life and I am not a bigot.

How does it harm you. Why are you against letting people make a legal promise before witnesses to be monogamous?

I dont think they would, I know that I wouldn't switch my beliefs because a president does something.

But do you respect the wishes of the pedophile? If not then by your own definition you are a bigot.
