And Bumblebee came from a different assembly plant than the other bots. :)
His point was that Hobbits and Wizards are different races. Jazz and Bublebee are the same race. wait a sec, I can't believe we are arguing over this.

LOL. Same race? No they aren't. Bumblebee was a minibot.
He's from the southern hemisphere of Cybertron. From a district called CyberShire. All the minibots were. That's why they were minibots. :D

I believe he says Jazz is a "hardtop" solstice (convertible) which is really a completely different looking car with the top on. Of course i would have to think that would make for some odd moments in the transformation as the hardtop is removable. It doesnt stow away like the ragtop.

I am a little suspicious of them making him the hardtop as I believe 2007 is the first year the hardtop will be available. Could be wrong. They may again be playing the advertising monkeys here.

I may just be making too much of the statement about him being a hardtop. That could indeed be what model he is and he just wont have the top for most of the movie. But if he does have the top he is completely different. Much more of a sports wagon look.

I agree Jazz could have easily been the camaro and Bumbles the solstice but who knows what kind of restrictions and suggestions they're forced to work around by the car companies.

Bay and Co is getting paid to feature the gas-guzzling V6 Camaro (or is BB the V8 version? That'd be even worse).
GM needs the help. They're losing market share by the minute.

Welcome to the boards.

You're right, the solstice is a whole different car with that fugly hardtop on. The convertible looks a whole better. I hate the thought of Jazz being a speed wagon.

Umm... What do you mean? Are you just overstating your dislike of the car? or do you think the pics I posted are not of a convertible? Just confused by what you said is all.

Thanks for the welcome, Shinobi.

Well it is the solstice. I know it looks more like a "speed wagon" (i laugh everytime i think of that word) but it's still the convertible that looks fugly as hell with the top on.

They list him as Shockblast, but looks like Shockwave to me.

A quote from the review in the link;

"Fast-forward to 2004, with the release of Energon Shock... blast. Apparently, in the 15-some year interim between Action Masters and Energon, the name "Shockwave" was scuttled away to some other toy company while Hasbro wasn't paying attention. Ah, well... spilt milk, etc etc".

Weird, I see a little guy called Shockwave in double pack at Wal-Mart all the time. He looks like this... http://tfu.info/2005/Decepticon/Shockwave/shockwave.htm

Yeah, it's strange how the names are being reassigned to other transformers.

Makes you believe that Hasbro really did have final say on who's in the movie and what they looked like. It's funny how everyone is b****ing about how, "They're changing everything! They should even bother naking the movie!!" And yet, Hasbro has been changing the toy line for years.

true. over the years the names and characters looks have completley changed.
so we shouldnt be so up in arms on the massive re-imaginings done for the film.
but.....its soo hard when u imagine what couldve/shouldve been.
besides the script while entertaining is cliched and couldve been much better.
to human oriented with the title characters just being action fodder.
lets hope they changed this.

That may be true... but when someone (Marvel, Sunbow... whoever) have to actually tell a story based on these toys, for the most part (AFAIK) they try to establish some sort of coherence.

So, for instance, Shockwave may be a car at some point in time. But, he was not a car nor Jazz a midget in the part of the Transformers history THIS movie is attempting to tell (which like it or not *is* the G1 story).
