HUB has been running the Adam West Batman series for the past few months. I've been DVRing it and finally got around to copying some of the episodes down to DVD to open up DVR space. I just finished copying the Joker's first appearance, "The Joker Is Wild" and was amazed at what I found in the ep.

Near the end, there's a scene in the Joker's lair. Along with the usual henchmen, there's a blonde woman there he calls "Queenie". She totally idolizes him AND has a hint of a Brooklyn accent.

On top of that, the finale is a performance of Pagliacci. The clown performer (Joker in disguise) is wearing a sad-face clown mask with a bright blue 5 o'clock shadow - could this have been Nolan's inspiration for the Joker's bank robbery mask in TDK?

I saw the episode a couple months ago but I can't remember the girl in the episode but as far as the mask goes it's an almost exact match for the mask used in the bank heist in TDK. I think the only difference was the mask in the 66 show had a mustache.

The mask was definitely a nod. It's pretty much the same mask.
