I played the demo for Infamous and thought it was cool. But I also heard Prototype was similarly good. So which one do I go for? Which has better replay value? Or should I just save my money for Uncharted 2?

I think Infamous is generally considered better.

I've heard Infamous is pretty good. But personally, if it were my money I would wait for Uncharted 2. :]

Which has more replay value? Prototype does but that doesnt neceasrily mean its the better game. Prototype is pretty bad when compared to Infamous. Infamous is definetly the better title which I felt had a more solid gaming experience

I didn't care for either, thought both of em received praise they shouldn't have.

You just need to wait for Uncharted 2 which is guaranteed to be one of, if not the best game to drop this year.

infamous is better of the two. but im guessing uncharted will be the best of the three.

have you guys seen the vids of crackdown 2...looks awesome

Did you play thru both all the way? Just curious how you came to your conclusion. I can read all the official review on the web, but I can't get feedback I trust.

And I pose the same question to projectpat. I've only played the demo of Infamous, but it just makes me angry, knowing I'll have to wait to fully explore Empire City. Prototype I know nothing of firsthand, only that IH: UD is my favorite open-world action game by a mile. Not alot of competition, with only the Infamous demo, and SM2 to compare.

I found the Infamous demo to be underwhelming and frustrating. Though, I'm such a huge fan of Sucker Punch I'll buy the game when it becomes a "hit" and the price is lowered significantly.

Yes I did play both games all the way through, twice. The gameplay and controls in Infamous are much more refined. Eveything "feels" right and the powers work well. Theres a bit more strategy when taking on enemies as you cant always just go in and mindlessly attempt to kill everyone. Gameplay with Prototype is pretty much all about killing and destroying all in your path. It gets too hectic and chaotic. There are more powers in this game but I felt too much. You wont even be using most of them. Theres so many abilities and powers that it becomes hard to pull them off as the developers had to come up with some different way to map them onto a controller and bc of this they dont feel intuitive.

I thought the graphics in Infamous could have been better. They arent bad at all, but definetly arent the best the PS3 has to offer. Then I went and played Prototype and it made Infamous look like MGS4. Yeah thats an exageration but Prototype doesnt look good at all, especially not for a PS3/360 game

As far as the story, there is nothing special about Prototype. The hero feels very generic and the story isnt anything that will grab you as it isnt memorable. Theres definetly more of an emotional connection with Infamous. Theres an interesting twist that I wont spoil but definetly makes you want to replay the game and actually watch for things. You are also given the ability to make choices in the game. Whether you choose to be good or bad actually does affect the story and how your character progresses. You'll be given different powers and look based on how you play. You only get to play one way in Prototype and there isnt any real consequences to what you do.

I said that Prototype has more replay value and that comes in its side missions. There are tons of them across the city which are timed and scored. Infamous has side missions as well but not nearly as many as Prototype and they arent scored. I guess thats the one plus Id give to Prototype but not all of those side stuff are fun and the controls tend to ruin some of them, mainly the races.

I found the Infamous demo to be underwhelming and frustrating. Though, I'm such a huge fan of Sucker Punch I'll buy the game when it becomes a "hit" and the price is lowered significantly.
The final game is better than the demo. Demo only offers a small slice of the game and its not really the best way to convey the tone and story of it as you are pretty much just thrown into the action

True, as with most games, but for some reason the demo didn't sit well with me. I found the health system to be too unforgiving and the select missions were more tedious than fun. Also, the "platforming" -- for the lack of a better term(climbing up buildings, etc.) felt like an inferior version of Crackdown. Though, since this game has recieved a lot of critical praise and I love the three Sly Cooper games, I'll definitely buy it in the not too distant future. Though, I doubt I'll ever buy Prototype 'til it's less than $15. Its New York must be one of the ugliest open world settings in a next-gen game I've ever seen.

Personally I hated Prototype and loved inFamous. I'd go with inFamous.

I never played Crackdown, but I loved the platforming. One issue I had was that Cole (the protagonist) always autograbbed when coming from an edge. Sometimes I wish he would fall straight. He also sort of auto adjusts himself to land on rails when you are in the air. I think the developers simplified things bc theres alot of jumping in the game and I think it would be annoying if you had to be super precise as Ive seen that in games and it killed the gameplay.

As for the health system, as long as you find an electrical source, that will serve as a health refill. Things get challenging though as not all areas in the game have a power source early on and even then its not always easy to just stop fighting and look for one. Its balanced well and while it might seem easy on the normal setting, it becomes more of a challenge on hard

Prototype.

For some reason I love running around a city slicing up people, cops etc. Infamous was an awesome demo but when I played the actual game It just got too linear and old real quick.

Damn, I had the exact opposite reaction. I believe the health system was genius, and just forgiving enough. It made you actualy think about cover and using energy for health boosts, as well as recharges. Also, the only mission I disliked was the truck chasing one. It allowed the least amount of creativity. But I can't speak on the Crackdown comment, I never played it.

I was really disappointed with the whole game. The controls, the story, everything

I think my biggest quarrel with the game though was the fact that they gave you all these super powers and make you feel like a beast but nerf it by throwing so many enemies at you that you end up feeling like a regular civilian.

well both are great games, If it came down to you in the store and you only had $63.52 in your hand i would go with infamous but if you have enough for both you cant go wrong with ethier game. no matter what both have replay and staying power.

same here, especially the level where at the end when you are chasing that one guy in the tank and they have swarms of other tanks, and soldiers with missiles on every rooftop, it got frustrating really fast. It took me 5 days to beat that part because i would get close to him and then all the sudden i got 8 missles coming from 10 different directions. I think the only negative with prototype is that there is too much chaos with the soldiers and creatures simultanously attacking you. also if your suppose to be this powerful character then why does your attacks do so little to the creatures but when they hit you with one punch you almost die?

with infamous they struck a balance where you could enjoy the game with out having 100 hundred villians attacking you.

Both.

It depends on if you want to play a Spider-Man type game or a Hulk type game.

Both have their merits.

inFamous is more Spidey in that the public likes/fears you, smaller bad guys, thrill of gliding across the city, real world problems.

Prototype is more Hulk in that you're feared, hunted but can go on the offensive, thrill of destroying stuff and having unbridled power at your control.

I had to play that part twice because the second time I had to basically cheat the game, and by that I mean kill a bunch of the rocket dudes and then run away, run back, stand on top of the roof and shoot all the tanks so they couldn't see me. Rinse and repeat. It was boring. The last boss battle though was even worse in my opinion. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if there wasn't a time limit and secondly, why was the military still shooting rockets at me?!

The game had some cool things but it missed on too many fronts for me to really have enjoyed it. I finished it because I couldn't quit after playing for so long.

The boss fight with Elizabeth Greene in Prototype has got to be one of the most frustrating in any game released this generation

I loved Prototype and bought it on its release. But I have played a little of Infamous, and it looks equally as good. Just get both.
