PS3 - is it worth getting??

Now don't get me wrong, I've had my 360 for a while. And really lovin' it. But with Christmas nearing, I'm deciding on whether or not I need another game console. So I'm asking you guys, is it worth getting, or not?

You obviously like Luke Cage, and probably Iron Fist as well, so that makes you awesome.
For that, let me give you an advice.

If you already love your 360 and have all of the MANY huge games for it (not to mention all the awesome games coming next year), and still feel the need for another console, go with the Wii or Ps2.

Wii = Cheap, fun and has some really cool games, with some GC classics to boot (also cheap). Gimmicky, some people say....but still fun as hell.

Ps2: Even cheaper, and has some of the best games of last generation, most of them also very cheap.

Don't bother with the Ps3, it's an overrated and overpriced piece of crap with no good games, and when it does get good games, they'll most likely be on the 360. I mean, just look at all the "exclusives" that are jumping to the 360.

So yeah, be careful with your money, dude.

Its definetly worth buying, just not worth buying right now. Its value will go up by next year once its established in the market and the bigger titles are released. Id save my money for the moment

From what I've heard so far, yeah the PS3 is overrated, like you said. My friends told me something similar to that. Saying the price range was absolutely suckage, mainly cause the thing hardly has any games for it. . I've been happy with my 360, since the day I got it, and polish it every week. IMO, it's a far better gaming console. I had a PS2 before getting it, but I heard that the Wii is a lot of fun. So I'll prolly check it out, and see what it's worth.

this system is anything but an overrated piece of crap. I love it and prefer it to my friend's 360 (which i have played the hell out of and helped him get the day it came out). People who say it's overrated probably don't own one or are 360 fanboys. all other points are valid: lack of games at this point (though Resistance is incredible) and the price is crazy high.

The PS3 is a terrific system, and it's the sexiest game console i've ever seen, and i've seen'em all.

where you go from here is up to you. but take it from me, an OWNER, it's a very good system.

I'd wait. Not many games out right now that are worth shelling out so much cash for, and the launch shipment waves of any console usually have more defects than later on shipments. The dashboard is cool, slick and easy with the cross menu thing they made for the PSP, and I can't wait to get videos and music and pictures and stuff onto the HD.

Paying over 300 bucks for ANY game system is insane. Nothing is worth that price.

The release titles suck, period. It was like this for PS2 back when it came out. The release titles were pretty much garbage, but eventually the games it rendered were nice.

These forums are a bit heavy with X-box fanatics as you've probably noticed lol. It's worth it if you like Playstation. I've read many positive reviews from happy buyers. Obviously there will be bias on both sides. Like above where an actual owner of one says he enjoys it just to be told he doesn't know what he's talking about and that it is overrated from ppl who haven't bought one and have bashed Sony at every turn.

Ignore it, if you have the money to spare and want a PS3 then get it, if you are a bit short on cash and don't care which to you get then get an Xbox 360. Fact is if you're getting it not just for games, but for watching movies on higher formats and internet use, then PS3 is cheaper in the long run. PS3 with blu-ray out of box = $500-600 (premium version)+ free internet = $500 - $600. X-box 360 $300-$400 (premium version) + $200 for HD player add on + yearly fee for X-box live (Gold 12 month package) $60 = $560- $660. Plus that's a yearly recurring $60 as you have to renew once a year, so after five years a premium X-box 360 + HD add on + 5 years of $60 gold service = $300 more than PS3 at the same point if it continues to be $60 per year like the first year that is.

If you don't care for the HD add-on or X-box live then 360 is indeed cheaper by a good $200 bucks if you compare premiums to premiums or regular to regular.

Despite all the spin, PS3 seems like a solid system to me. Like I said, ignore those wishing Sony to do bad on here, and same to those wishing X-box to do badly. If you liked their previous consoles, chances are you'll like the current. You can always wait for the PS3 price to drop if you're unsure atm and go with a Wii or 360. Currently X-box might have better titles, but that's after a year of building up titles. PS3 is still in it's infancy with launch titles which are always bad. You could wait a year for the price to go down and more titles to be released, it just depends on your patience I guess.

Lol, I know you were talking to him but just wanted to say you might want to cool it off a bit. I don't mind arguing intelligent arguments when someone moves past "Sony sucks because someone else said so!!!". It's just with comments like that it's kinda obvious why you got banned. I of course am not going to report you or anything, but keep saying stuff like that an someone will. As for what he said, he is right in a way. Everyone has a bias and opinions. If you let someone tell you what to like or hate without ever knowing or having first hand experience yourself, then you're arguing without any real base. There were plenty of ppl in the game industry who said Sega Saturn or Dreamcast would blow all other systems out of the water and Sega's now out of the console making buisness. Simply posting someone else's opinion doesn't make you right or wrong, or mean a console sucks or rules, it means you posted someone else's opinion.
