Double Fine successfully launched many critically acclaimed titles between 2005 and 2018 such as Brütal Legend, Broken Age, Grim Fandango Remastered, and Massive Chalice. While each game produced at Double Fine in unique in its own way, there's one more title that left players in awe of Tim Schafer & Co.'s creativity - Psychonauts, which was released in 2005 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC.

Almost 14 years later, Double Fine is slowly getting ready to launch a highly anticipated sequel to that mind-boggling adventure with Razputin Aquato and his hilarious friends. In a recent video update. Shafer revealed that Psychonauts 2 is about to enter a whole new phase of development - Alpha, to be exact. The Christmas update also gives you a chance to how the TGA2018 trailer came together.

Entering Alpha means Double Fine is basically done inventing new things and now it's all about making and polishing the features they have been inventing this whole time to hopefully launch a complete and satisfying gaming experience. In Psychonauts 2, Aquato finds himself on an epic quest to stop a shady and powerful organization from resurrecting history's most cruelly powerful psychic villains.



Psychonauts 2 tells the story of Razputin Aquato, a gifted acrobat with psychic powers, as he fulfills his goal of becoming an international psychic super-spy. In other words, a Psychonaut. Raz joins the Psychonauts at a dangerous time: a mole has infiltrated the organization and is planning to resurrect history's most cruelly powerful psychic villains. Not knowing who to trust, Raz must dive into the history of the Psychonauts, and that of his own family, to fight the demons of their shared past.

Psychonauts 2 is set to release in 2019, on PC and consoles.

New E3 gameplay trailer.



The game will be delayed to 2020 and Double Fine is being bought by Microsoft, but the game is still coming out to the promised consoles.
